Re. rim brakes: One DOES have to be careful not to smash the brake discs, but disc brakes work better in the wet and muddy weather. Rim brakes can be downright HAZARDOUS. Also rim brakes on carbon rims don't work very well even when dry. Re. alloy bike. Why? Why not steel, if bike weight isn't a big concern? (ex. if the rider is fat, so the 3 lbs. on the bike doesn't matter) Why not carbon, if a fellow has plenty of budget and is not going to be knocking his bike around? Trek warrantees their carbon frames the same as alloy ones. Re. bright clothing, it's only effective during the day, as it needs light to reflect the brightness back. For dawn, dusk and nighttime riding, lights and reflective material are a LOT more effective. (GCN channel covered this; look it up, as they have researched it very well)
I am a 60 kg guy and it doesn't matter what saddle I use. My ass is is constant pain :(. It feels the same as using no saddle at all, just the fkin seatpost.
If you're new to cycling it might take 5 or more rides until your body adapts at those parts (with regeneration period between the rides) and if it continues after that you should probably look for a new saddle.

Most decent entry level frames are aluminium these days. If you go for a good steel frame you'd be looking at used, really old stuff.
those hood covers or levers don’t look installed properly. Something is off there.
you can let go of the handlebars while standing, you just need to make sure your legs are squeezing the seat for stability. I do it all the time!
Yea, rim brakes are absolute garbage in the rain. And unfortunately I live where it rains 300 out of 365 days in a year :(
Rim brakes with alloy wheels and Kool Stop Dura 2 are really good in the rain, carbon rim brakes are garbage.
