A pro-skater, but not in the traditional sense…
Dan has made his living from skateboarding, through the unconventional route of becoming a UA-camr and social influencer.
When the lockdown hit, Dan saw an opportunity to change his life and the lives of those around him. He started creating skateboarding content for TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram, not just for himself but also to uplift his friends and his local scene. His dedication and consistency have paid off, with over 100k UA-cam subscribers and over 300k TikTok followers.
We linked up with Dan on a very rainy trip to Manchester to discuss how much skate influencers get paid, how to tackle online hate, what his favourite content is to film, explore the perception of being a "UA-cam Skater", plus so much more.

I don’t understand why people hate on him so much just cause he found a way to to make money doing what he loves I’ve skating since 99 an one thing I have realized is there are so many hater’s inn the skate community he loves skateboarding that’s what matters just cause he’s different from you don’t hate on him the skaters are the ones that respect the other persons love skateboarding

People are just jealous. Simple as that. Dan is a good dude. Hell, he sent a skate to me all the way in Canada on one of his contests, thats a high shipping cost.
Well theres the whole... video that is deleted now where he brought up the sex life of strangers for attention which is some human garbage behavior and if he was a high schooler.... with 0 following and made the same video about a classmate he would get suspended for sexual harassment.
@@jonathanhodges2561 Yeah, no offence dude but I'm not going to trust some one on the internet complaining about shit. Most the times things are blown way out of proportion, taken out of context (either out of malice or stupidity) and/or remembered falsely. I would need to see the video to make a judgment. That being said, unless it was straight up talking about illegal shit, people make poor judgment calls at times, mistakes if/when owned up to honestly can and should be forgiven, and again I would need to see the video and context in which it was said.

Inspiring! I had no idea you could make that much money from skateboard clips lol. I sometimes suffer just to get back out there as I've been asked "Aren't you too old to skateboard?" lol. Didn't bother me when I was a bit younger but it has bothered me recently. I will defeat this mental battle though and get back out there!

I respect the grind, I really do but it’s weird for me that you’ve been skating so long and really aren’t at the amateur level of skating and that most of your fav skaters you listed are newer “unique” skaters. Maybe I’m just too old school since I’ve been skating since 98 and don’t have a great “appreciation” for UA-cam skaters. Especially when there are so many better skaters getting no love because they aren’t social media hustlers, or the fact that some UA-cam skaters talk about skating as if they are at the pro level. I’ve never even seen a skate part from this cat. Guess us older skaters are just used to the raw gritty scene where we weren’t hugging or sucking each other after a trick. I just loved how you had to earn your stripes instead of just getting likes and subs to establish yourself.
