Jack is kind of a dark and tragic character the more you think about it. He practically died as a kid and was revived as a winter spirit no one can see. And he spent 300 years in isolation no friends, no family or any memory of who he was. He was alone for centuries and the man in the moon never told him anything.
Based on the lore of the movie (idk how different the books are), the whole concept of the guardians is pretty messed up. Even as a kid, Tooth's implication that they're all people that died and turned into spirits creeped me out. Also, I always thought Jack's situation was the common one amongst spirits - nobody seeing them and without their memories - only the Guardians who were specifically chosen got to keep their memories and be seen by others.
This film was based upon a series of children’s books called ‘the guardians of childhood’. There are more figures from children’s stories and contemporary folklore like Mother Nature, who is Pitch’s daughter, she is neither an ally or enemy but quite literally a force of nature. Jack Frost himself was once a being called ‘NightLight’ a star personified to protect the man in the moon as he grew up from infancy, eventually nightlight gave up his form to become human losing his memories to live with a family. Like the events in the film, he dies saving his little sister and the man in the moon turns him into Jack Frost, repaying his old friend by giving him new life.
@emilyrose3490 sad story, I read that Mother Goose in the books were based upon the author's daughter, Mary Kathrine. Unfortunately, she passed away at 18 from a tumor before the first book was even released.
"You're all hard work and deadlines, and I'm all snowballs and fun times." Fun Fact: This was the last Christmas movie Roger Ebert ever wrote a review for. He did give it a good one. Fairy Tale Fact: In one scene, the Tooth Fairy finds a mouse beneath a pillow. This is Ratoncito (Little Mouse) Perez, or The Tooth Mouse, a children's book character created by Spanish author Luis Coloma in 1894 said to replace lost baby teeth with gifts in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Latin America. Historical Fact: Bunny mentions that Jack Frost caused a blizzard on Easter Sunday of 1968, a reference to an actual event. At the beginning of the movie, Jack Frost walks through a Colonial American village. In the background, the folk song "Kempe's Jig" is playing. This was a popular early eighteenth century English dance song, named in honor of William Kempe, a famous sixteenth century English comic stage actor, whose work influenced modern comedic acting, stand-up comedy, and improvisational comic skits.
So there was popular theory going around that time. If you look at little tooth fairy Jack manages to save from Pitch and afterwards gestures Jack to look inside his past, she has half blue eye, and half pink while other tooth fairies all have both pink eyes. Just like how Jack's eyes also turned blue when he died. So the theory was Jack's sister actually reincarnated to one of those tooth fairies. It's really touching how Jack saves her once again and this time his sister helps him back.
I saw this movie in theaters and 16:22 was genuinely creepy because Pitch's voice would drift all around the room. I was like 21 at the time and it still gave me some serious chills. I love Jude Law's voice acting in this movie so much he absolutely sold Pitch as my favorite character, especially how he came out the gate verbally sniping everyone. I really like the detail that his eyes change color throughout the movie. The more evil he is, such as when he is aiming the arrow before he kills Sandy, the more golden his eyes are. @@thelostmessenger it was pretty awesome in theaters. I think Bunny's harsh reaction toward Jack was BECAUSE of their heart to heart. He opened up to trust Jack and even admitted that they needed Jack there to protect the tunnels, yet Jack chose to chase after his own memories instead of going back to them. True, we as an audience get why, but for Bunny it felt like a true betrayal - especially since he was going through an emotional breakdown from suddenly being invisible to the kids. It was rather harsh, but I think his expression showed a lot of sadness and fear more so than fury. (And I mean, Jack was kinda selfish. He went against Baby Tooth's warnings, (and that poor baby got captured) then when he found the other faries he chose to look for his own box of memories instead of letting them out. That is selfish no matter how you turn it. Understandable Human emotion? Yes. Still selfish? Also yes.)

@@PlaceholderDoe123 Toothiana's mother was known as a Sister of Flight, she fell in love with a human man who had lept in front of a ruby tipped arrow to save her and when she healed him she lost her wings. Originally Toothiana was born in the palace that the Sisters of Flight lived in but she was born a completely normal and human so her parents thought it was best to raise her among mortal children instead so they settled on the outskirts of a village at the edge of the jungle. Toothiana was well loved and protected, living a simple and happy life. But when she was twelve she lost her last baby tooth and sprouted wings along with bodily feathers. While the children delighted in Toothiana's new ability, the adults of the village were shocked and frightened by this now half-bird girl. Some thought she was an evil spirit that must be killed, while others saw ways to use her as either a freakish oddity or forced to be used as a thief. Her parents knew that they had to leave and so they went deep into the jungle and avoided capture for many weeks until the parents of the children, who had been informing Toothiana and her family of their parent's actions, followed them into the jungle and found where Toothiana and her parents were staying. They left a trail of coins for some hunters who captured her parents and threatened that if Toothiana did not show herself they would be killed at sunrise. Some of the animals in the forest came to tell her what had happened but her parents had told her to never come if they were in danger. She went anyways, darting through the forest like a bullet. When she arrived her parents fought like possessed beings but as they did, so did the villagers and hunters. She tried to rescue her parents but they were too heavy for her to lift and so her mother took out a stringed pouch and gave it to her daughter, saying that its contents would protect and comfort her. Toothiana flew away with the pouch wailing a horrible, mesmerizing scream, half-human and half-bird. She flew to the highest treetop in the land and sat there for a full day in disbelief and sadness before she remembered the pouch her mother had given her. Opening it, she found a shimmering ruby box carved from the arrow that had almost killed her parents with a note inside it; Our dearest daughter, These are the teeth of your childhood. If you have them under your pillow in your sleep, or if you hold them tightly, you will remember that which you need...a memory of happy days, or of deepest hopes, or even of us in better days. Toothiana still did not cry. Instead, she slept with her teeth under her pillow and let the hopes and dreams and happiness of her childhood wrap around her like a loving blanket. There's more to her story but that's at least the build up to the heartbreaking part. If you think this is sad, Pitch's is even more heartbreaking.
i hate that the gave her a "human" face and basically white washed her. in the original design she had a literally white face but in the movie they removed a lot of the more ethnic based aspects of her look and even her weapons
i watched this movie for the first time in the theatres as a kid, absolutely loved it. elsa and jack actually have shippers tbh 💀😭 search them up and all the edits will pop up like 😭
Bro, I still don't know how my family hadn't caught on to why I was practically obsessed with this film when I was younger. _(I literally watched it, like- _*_everyday_*_ for months on end.)_
3:20 - Fun fact, it's always night on Earth, the Tooth Fairy does in fact work 24/7. (Funner fact, she still doesn't have to deliver to every kid every night, so until kids start loosing teeth on a daily basis (don't give me any ideas) she at least gets to spread out her deliveries somewhat, so at least that can alleviate some of the stress of "all in one night")
Man I still remember watching this movie as a kid, I think my favourite character was sandman and was so devastated when I thought he actually died I didn't even wanna finish the movie lol. Anyway, Happy Holidays Lakia & everyone! 🎄
Jacks power doesn’t come from a holiday or a specific idea, same as pitch, both of their powers come from naturally occurring forces of nature being cold and dark, which is why they’re apparently so much stronger than the normal guardians and can survive without being believed in, in addition, I could be wrong on this but the way I interpreted it at least is that the staff isn’t the source of his power, it’s just a sort of symbol of it also, I’m pretty sure in the source material Jack was some sort of entity created to protect the moon before eventually becoming human, when he died the moon repaid him by turning him into Jack Frost
Sandy is my favorite character to . I recommend you read the chapter books on the guardians you will enjoy them. the man and the moon has his own separate book by the same author. it’s not a chapter book but it is necessary to read with the guardians. Unfortunately they no longer sell the books in store you will have to buy them online.
I'm so happy your finally reacting to this movie, it's my favorite you can watch it any time of the year Easter and Christmas. I so wish that it got more recognition. The characters are great, this movie has the BEST SANTA, the world is beautiful and Jack Frost is SO CUTE. I'm surprised you weren't fawning over him. You calling Pitch a loser made me laugh
I love this movie so much! It's hilarious, it has heart, it's action packed, and it can be watched during any Holiday season! I love how all the mythical well known legends like the Tooth Fairy, Sandman, Santa, Easter Bunny and Jack Frost are all united as one big super hero team! I don't know if I want a sequel or a TV series following this film!
This film was based on a book series called The Guardians Of Childhood and it was by William Joyce, the man who created Rolie Polie Olie. The books really delve into the backstory of the characters more and it's completely different than the film. It's a great movie but I wish they had stayed true to the books.
1:27 The opposite actually, Jack was the moon’s babysitter canonically speaking, after his parents were killed by Pitch, Jack raised him. This also plays into why he doesn’t remember anything, I really wished they got into it and gave us a sequel(or prequel).
In middle school (after I saw this movie), I would say, "How many times have I told you to knock?!" whenever one of my family members would open my bedroom door and I'd be rocking out to my favorite soundtracks or doing something silly.
I was roaring with laughter through this video, you're so great at this, lol. Was a joy! Also need to quote: "You can't keep a good dream down". That was glorious. I really enjoyed your reaction! This movie is definitely a lot of fun. I've seen people speculate if it ever gets a sequel that a cool redemption arc for Pitch would be if he became the guardian of Halloween or something. I'm game for that story idea.
Very underrated Dreamworks film!! Sadly it didn’t do well in Box office but I would have liked a sequel. I only watched it because I thought Jack was cute.
I don’t know, I think this movie is soooo underrated. I just LOVE the character of Jack and Pitch Black too. Like, Jack is so charismatic and caring, also very funny and irresponsible like a real kid. For me personally Jack is 14 (his voice’s just changing😁), so he is very relatable like that. And Pitch’s voice really is GREAT! So of course every movie, book or really anything has their own flaws, but all in one I ADORE THIS MOVIE) And I LOVE your reaction video to it, I’ve had fun and remembered about this great classic, thanks❤️
I love this movie! the very idea of all the legendary figures coming to together to protect the children of the world is very interesting! also Merry Christmas to you Lakia!!!
Sandy's death actually destroyed me the first time I saw it, I watched this movie with my family and when he was shot I screamed. I was inconsolable for a good hour.
this movie will always have a special spot in my heart. years later and it’s still amazing and i never get tired of watching it. can’t say the same for other movies
9:08-9:11 every other christmas or seasonal movie during the holidays has a character that knows about Global Navigational System or has one set in their homeland, that's also part of their job to peek in on individuals(the good, neutral or very bad/naughty)
This was the first 3D movie I actually saw in theaters. I still love with and we deserved a sequel the cast was so😍🤌🏻 its upsetting to know it didnt get the love it deserved, back when I went to see it literally no one else was in the theater room.
Great villains like Pitch make you fall in love even though you know you shouldn’t. And based off his backstory in the books, the poor guy needs some lovin. Baby Bunny was sooo cute!!
😂😂😂😂😂I’m dead at the thought of tooth fairy buying our teeth!!! Eww no wait that’s weird. But the word transaction came to mind at first and that, that’s hilarious. Little fairy transaction
i just love pitch black. hes overall appearance and the threat he imposed reminded me of lobo from puss in boots. shame he never got the recognition he deserved as a villain. he wanted the same thing as the guardians. to be believed in. and he doesnt want to share. and thats what makes him a VILLAIN
I never grew up with the tooth fairy however I love that they included ratón Pérez because that’s what we believe and I grew up with so it felt nice to see that detail in the movie and the little ( European side ) hint of the tooth fairy 😂😂😊
Never thought about Jack's similarities to Peter Pan. Interesting "You just been stealin teeth!?!?" No, they just took them without leaving anything inst..... Oh. Ooohhhhh. Oh my gosh, you're right 😅 "Hahaha Loser!" 😂😂😂 Since Sandy is your "favorite guy", a little lore: Sandy's the oldest guardian, actually millions of years old. Maybe you could guess from his shape? He used to be a star but fell down on earth and became the first guardian. And he actually can talk, he just doesn't to not interrupt children's sleep. 😉
15:19 Jesus wasn't born in december, his birthday was just moved to that date/time of the year because a lot of pagans had their own traditions (celebrating harvesting or the turning of the sun, winter soltice) so instead of removing those celebrations it was easier to just change the reason why they celebrate. Not a christian but that would mean easter should be more important than christmas, seeing as christmas has pagan roots.
Your reaction videos are hilerious!! (I've just been too shy to comment before) But I also love this movie and I laughed so much watching your reaction to it! Also the Christmas vs Easter tangent, haha, I can relate😂
Okay so yk how Pitch is like Like he came from under the bedframe in the woods? So there's an old town I used to travel through a lot and every time I'd go through it, we'd pass by this church STG that church was sus cuz it had a small bedframe just like that outside by the graveyard and I found it so creepy
Oh, Sandy, my absolute favorite, pure sweet dreams fuel, adorable AND kicks ass. I think the only character I actively don't like is the Bunnimund. On top of being annoyed by him, there's something kinda yucky about an Australian Easter Bunny, since rabbits spread like a disease through the ecosystem of Australia thanks to colonialism. The Aussies do have the Easter Bilby though, and bilbies are so freakin' cute. Also, too bad we never got a sequel to this movie. It would've been a good chance to show more of Pitch's background from the books. As some have already mentioned in the comments, his backstory is tragic af.
I remember watching this movie when I was younger and I was TERRIFIED of pitch and tbh I still kinda am 😅 whenever he came on screen I would put my head under a pillow 😂

While the children delighted in Toothiana's new ability, the adults of the village were shocked and frightened by this now half-bird girl. Some thought she was an evil spirit that must be killed, while others saw ways to use her as either a freakish oddity or forced to be used as a thief. Her parents knew that they had to leave and so they went deep into the jungle and avoided capture for many weeks until the parents of the children, who had been informing Toothiana and her family of their parent's actions, followed them into the jungle and found where Toothiana and her parents were staying. They left a trail of coins for some hunters who captured her parents and threatened that if Toothiana did not show herself they would be killed at sunrise. Some of the animals in the forest came to tell her what had happened but her parents had told her to never come if they were in danger. She went anyways, darting through the forest like a bullet. When she arrived her parents fought like possessed beings but as they did, so did the villagers and hunters. She tried to rescue her parents but they were too heavy for her to lift and so her mother took out a stringed pouch and gave it to her daughter, saying that its contents would protect and comfort her. Toothiana flew away with the pouch wailing a horrible, mesmerizing scream, half-human and half-bird. She flew to the highest treetop in the land and sat there for a full day in disbelief and sadness before she remembered the pouch her mother had given her. Opening it, she found a shimmering ruby box carved from the arrow that had almost killed her parents with a note inside it;
Our dearest daughter,
These are the teeth of your childhood.
If you think this is sad, Pitch's is even more heartbreaking.
i hate that the gave her a "human" face and basically white washed her. in the original design she had a literally white face but in the movie they removed a lot of the more ethnic based aspects of her look and even her weapons
cause for sure the "what are you going to do? stick a quarter under my pillow?" line would not have worked with her book design
Her talking about Elsa being boring in comparison to Jack when there’s a whole fandom dedicated to shipping them 😭
Fr
i watched this movie for the first time in the theatres as a kid, absolutely loved it. elsa and jack actually have shippers tbh 💀😭 search them up and all the edits will pop up like 😭
The Rise of the Brave Tangled Frozen Dragons or whatever it is lives on I guess
@@mysticdigital5936 omds tumbller this day aria amv vibes
I was a kid when this movie came out and I also remember the Jelsa shippers lolol
When I tell you Pitch had me on an absolute chokehold; I was obsessed with that man💀
for me it was Jack Frost and I’m still obsessed 😭
I had a crush on Santa, The Easter Bunny, and Pitch, I am not apologizing for any of those 😂
The accents, OOOooooOo
Bro, I still don't know how my family hadn't caught on to why I was practically obsessed with this film when I was younger.
_(I literally watched it, like- _*_everyday_*_ for months on end.)_
@@stephaniecourteoreille5972 FOR REAL!
*FUN FACT*
The voiceactor for Pitch Black is Jude Law, who also plays young Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts movies!
Pitch leveled up because most of the kids were afraid so that made him stronger
And then the devs thought he was too OP so they reintroduced Sandy to give him a quick debuff. Turns out though, Sandy himself is too OP, so ya.
I love this movie, it gives me the same heart warming feeling that How To Train Your Dragon gives me 😊😊😊
Fr, that’s one of the reasons they’re my two favourite movies
I DON'T CARE WHAT YA'LL THINK! I developed an attachment at Pitch and Sandy when I first saw this movie as a kid 😭
FINALLY MY MAN PITCH IS GETTING SOME APPRECIATION
anyone else start giggling when pitch goes "YOU dARe hAvE fUN in mY prEsENcE!?"
I have fun BECAUSE of his presence.
Girl I’m Mexican and the Spanish voice of jack hits hard bc it suits him so much better ❤
omg same, the main reason I had a big ass crush on him when I was like 13 was because of his voice in dub, it just hits different
Nah fr his voice is so.. 😭💞💞💞
Man I still remember watching this movie as a kid, I think my favourite character was sandman and was so devastated when I thought he actually died I didn't even wanna finish the movie lol. Anyway, Happy Holidays Lakia & everyone! 🎄
"Is the moon his father?"
I died 😭😭
17:03 “I WAS LURED.”
Lol 😂 you crack me up 😂👏🏻
Jacks power doesn’t come from a holiday or a specific idea, same as pitch, both of their powers come from naturally occurring forces of nature being cold and dark, which is why they’re apparently so much stronger than the normal guardians and can survive without being believed in, in addition, I could be wrong on this but the way I interpreted it at least is that the staff isn’t the source of his power, it’s just a sort of symbol of it
also, I’m pretty sure in the source material Jack was some sort of entity created to protect the moon before eventually becoming human, when he died the moon repaid him by turning him into Jack Frost
Every character in this movie is like unreasonably hot, except sandman, he’s just a cutie.
And the children.
@@IssacVazquez-tp6xf
Thank god
Sandy is my favorite character to .
I recommend you read the chapter books on the guardians you will enjoy them. the man and the moon has his own separate book by the same author. it’s not a chapter book but it is necessary to read with the guardians. Unfortunately they no longer sell the books in store you will have to buy them online.
Frrrr
Jamie’s kinda hot 😭
I had a huge crush on Jack Frost 😂 it also helped that he was voiced Chris Pine
This movie deserves a sequel
Human Jack kinda looks like Hiccup from How to train your dragons, like his whole fashion sense
Santa really has a Russian accent. I also speak English as a Russian.😁
I keep having nightmares that if freddy kruger goes into my dreams he'll say "my bro you need help, you can't go on like this" 🤣🤣🤣
Lol
It's a great movie but I wish they had stayed true to the books.
pitch was the source of my nightmares when I was younger lmaoo
I understand lol
he was the source to my wet dreams for a while ngl
BRUHH I ALWAYS THOUGHT HE LOOKED LIKE A FISH 🐟
@@Nymphette_best response😂was expecting someone to say it in the comments
Hearing Pitch's voice while wearing headphones is just 🥵🥵🥵😵😵😵😍😍😍
1:27 The opposite actually, Jack was the moon’s babysitter canonically speaking, after his parents were killed by Pitch, Jack raised him.
My friends always had a crush on Jack but Pitch was my man through and through😳🫣💕
Very underrated Dreamworks film!!
Honestly the animators made so obvious that the tooth fairy had a thing for jack frost
He used to be human but now he came back as a winter spirit
Idk what you talking about girl jacks voice is perfect and AHHHHHHH JACK FROST SUCH A HUGE CRUSH LIKE HE CAN IRONICALLY MELT MY HEART LOL
I love this movie! the very idea of all the legendary figures coming to together to protect the children of the world is very interesting! also Merry Christmas to you Lakia!!!
Seeing Pitch and Sandy makes me want to watch the Sandman again hahaha
This was a such a fun movie, I wish there was a sequel.
I had a crush on Jack and Bunny, which made sense when I found out Hugh Jackman voiced Bunny (I loved me some wolverine as a kid and still do now 😗)
Our Prince Consort of Genovia Mr. Chris Pine being the voice of Jack and Jude as Pitch...chef's kiss choices!
Btw They all are able to be visible as long as people believe in them. If people don’t believe in the guardians they become invisible.
Sandy's death actually destroyed me the first time I saw it, I watched this movie with my family and when he was shot I screamed. I was inconsolable for a good hour.
Lakia went from disliking pitch to _really_ liking him😂👀 understandable
Pitch had me like Oh Damn" He's mine!
this movie will always have a special spot in my heart. years later and it’s still amazing and i never get tired of watching it. can’t say the same for other movies
9:08-9:11 every other christmas or seasonal movie during the holidays has a character that knows about Global Navigational System or has one set in their homeland, that's also part of their job to peek in on individuals(the good, neutral or very bad/naughty)
I'm happy that I guessed Jack Frost's voice actor right. It sounded so much like Chris Pine and I was right.
This was the first 3D movie I actually saw in theaters. I still love with and we deserved a sequel the cast was so😍🤌🏻 its upsetting to know it didnt get the love it deserved, back when I went to see it literally no one else was in the theater room.
They should make a sequel where they fight Krampus.
Me, the first 8 minutes of the video: "RUSSIAN! HE'S RUSSIAN!" 😆
The sandman is a very popular myth/folklore, his job is sending dreams to people 👍
If they ever do a sequel Pitch could be the spirit of Halloween
Great villains like Pitch make you fall in love even though you know you shouldn’t. And based off his backstory in the books, the poor guy needs some lovin.
Baby Bunny was sooo cute!!
Even based on the movie, you can tell he's lonely. Could use some huggin'.
Imagine dying having done something good enough for eternal preservation and you get stuck as a furry like the bunny or the groundhog
I think his voice fits perfectly thank youuu
This movie was my childhood and I rewatched this too many times. And I still have a crush on Jack Frost to this day.
The battle scenes for me where the best, especially between Jack and pitch, just a amazing movie
im glad we *all* had a crush on Santa
Also latinoamerica 💕
i always forget ab this movie every couple years, thank you for bringing back memories 😭❤️
Ptch and North were and still are my absolute favorites
Never thought about Jack's similarities to Peter Pan. Interesting
"You just been stealin teeth!?!?"
No, they just took them without leaving anything inst..... Oh. Ooohhhhh. Oh my gosh, you're right 😅
"Hahaha Loser!"
😂😂😂
Since Sandy is your "favorite guy", a little lore: Sandy's the oldest guardian, actually millions of years old. Maybe you could guess from his shape? He used to be a star but fell down on earth and became the first guardian. And he actually can talk, he just doesn't to not interrupt children's sleep. 😉
IDC that this movie takes place around Easter, it will always be a Christmas movie to me
I remember this movie…it was cool to see
When I had this movie…I would watch it from time to time
15:19 Jesus wasn't born in december, his birthday was just moved to that date/time of the year because a lot of pagans had their own traditions (celebrating harvesting or the turning of the sun, winter soltice) so instead of removing those celebrations it was easier to just change the reason why they celebrate.
Honestly one of the most underrated holiday films
I’ve seen the movie both in English and Spanish, latin American Spanish and the voice of Jack did fits him
Okay so yk how Pitch is like
Like he came from under the bedframe in the woods?
So there's an old town I used to travel through a lot and every time I'd go through it, we'd pass by this church
STG that church was sus cuz it had a small bedframe just like that outside by the graveyard and I found it so creepy
I remember this movies as a kids and i have a crush on jack frost i wish they could make this movie 2
I always thought the voice matched Jack Frost. Dang.... ig once I think about it, it's a bit odd
Thank you for acknowledging that it isn't a Christmas movie. People say it is just because North is in it.
7:42 LMAO BEST PART🤣💀
omg i loved this movie as a kid!!
I know people are talking about Jack, but I was always kinda a simp for Pitch Black. With that said,
PITCH TAKE ME WITH YOU 💖❤️
I remember watching this movie when I was younger and I was TERRIFIED of pitch and tbh I still kinda am 😅 whenever he came on screen I would put my head under a pillow 😂
the “hahaha loser” WAS SO FUNNY FOR NO REASON 😭😭😭😭
When he was human, he could not produce ice magic
Loved this reaction. You're my favorite reactor😅
Love your reactions! Keep it up🤗
This movie always makes me cry 😭 the memories, being seen for the first time,..UGH.
They're the guardians of childhood actually originally anyway
