I would love to see a Code: Veronica remake

@Donovan Davis yea mine as well I don't think they will remaster that one either
@@InnerRise but zero has already been remastered and 4 it's best to not touch it. I think this is the last one
I raped that game back in the day... Loved it!
Or at least release CVX physically on PS4.
Dude your such a OG gamer and i love it,the way you talk is nostalgia on its own love your reveiws stay safe.
Fell in love with this dude as soon as he said remake Code Veronica next!
Me: That’s it I’m subscribing to this channel and becoming his number one fan😂
Dude, I am so glad you brought up Veronica. I hope they remaster everything except Alfred Ashford's voice and dialogue: just lift that straight off the dreamcast disc.
same
His laughs are hilarious especially the one in the intercom before u fight bandersnatch
got so scared you were gonna say "remove that shit" but nah, they NEED to lift that right off the dreamcast disc
@@becc8617 I don't care if it's super compressed compared to all the other dialogue, hahah.
Respect for having the Dreamcast version of Code Veronica, I owned it myself and never played X on the PS2.
Soul Calibur and Code Veronica were my "pack in games" for my DC. I very quickly grabbed Jet Set, Crazy Taxi, and Space Channel 5 then Skies of Arcadia. I miss my DC, it died on me around the time GameCube came out. I did get Soul Calibur 2 on PS2, Shenmue 2 and Panzer Dragoon Orta and Sega GT for XBox, and Arcadia on GameCube. I also got Jet Grind Radio for Xbox. I got Space Channel 5 2 on PS3, but Crazy Taxi can never be duplicated on another system... YAyaYAya! Hey hey hey, come have fun with Crazy Taxi!
I regret regret trading in my Dreamcast with a copy of Code Veronica and Soul Calibur for a PS2 back in the day. I did get Code Veroinca X later on but it has nothing on the Dreamcast version.
when Nemesis used to always say "starsss" my cousin would say "HBO" in the Nemesis voice because Starz is a movie channel here like HBO lol

I for one definitely want a RE: Code Veronica remake 👋🏻
Johnny, thank you for always being your authentic self. Not a whole lot of that on UA-cam anymore.
Excellent review. To anyone who is a fan of the Resident Evil games, this is a review that you should listen to as it came from someone who is actually interested in playing this game, not from the reviewers on the video game outlets who are having a bunch of games in the list to review.
@@CodeLikeHell The only downside that i agree is $60 is a lot of money, but RE games are not known for lengthy campaign, and no AAA titles these days lauched at cheaper price than that. It is a remake why would you expect the 1-to-1 conversion? I would prefer shorter 'quality' campaign to pointless 20-hour+ campaigns like in most games this age. I am sure true RE fans will replay the campaign multiple times trying to beat more difficult challenges.
JPisHere couldn't agree more!
@@fujumphol It's not about being lengthy or not. It's about cutting content for no reason. Live selection? Mercenaries? Puzzles? Iconic locations like the clocktower... Not to mention the different epilogues, costumes and even enemies

When Jill pass out in the game you have to play re2 remake beat it and then continue re3 remake that’s how you really play this game
Play the originals instead. These remakes are cash grabbing trash. The originals shit all over these half assed remakes.
@@MassivBlak I've played 1 and 2 remake as well as the originals and I gotta say remakes eon both times especially were 1 is concerned
Julian F I thought I was the only one thinking this lolol
That's how I did it too back in the days of the originals.
Code Veronica is the most underrated RE hands down. They better remake it 😂
I wouldn't call it underrated but it's a mixed bag in the RE community mainly because some fans bitch about the difficulty. It's a challenge but that's what makes it fun at least for me it does.
Big Boss under the radar would be a better term. A lot of people who I talk to simply skipped over it because it wasn’t a “main game”.
@@TheSkaterguy668 I believe you. Some of them probably don't realise that Code V is actually the true RE3 with it being the direct sequel to RE2.
Big Boss yeah dude and its so sad. I’m a little biased though cause Code V is my favorite haha.
Your $60 is worth it as long as you had a great time. I had more fun with my 10 hour initial playthrough of RE2 remake than my 50+ hours playthrough of death stranding, god of war and days gone. I had so much fun with RE2 that I spent another $60 to play it xbox one X. Just finished another run this week, total playtime is 50+ hours!
Yes, I still have a PS4. I got the 1x around May 2019. They said RE2 looked better on 1x so I bought another copy. As for RE3, I already played the demo 9 times, so I'm sure I am gonna enjoy it.
A 5 hour initial play though sucks though. Especially as it’ll be your only play though as there’s no new characters, modes or multiple endings.
@Vladimir Thriftex God Of War had dead and boring combat combined with the visuals and action of it's predecessors, and the world was barren.
My first playthrough was almost 8 hours. I explored a lot, made sure I cleared every area of items, and loved the whole experience. If it weren't for FFVIIR this weekend and my backlog, I would have immediately started a second playthrough.
RE3 Remake isn't much shorter than RE2R. AS RE2 just *feels* longer because of the two characters and the second scenarios. However the two campaigns really aren't that different from each other and the second scenario had you retread most of the same things in the RPD, only changing a few scenes, the final boss and having the true ending.
I completely agree, the only thing that is disappointing is a lack of Mercenaries mode for me. My inital run through the game collecting everything was over 8 hours long.
6:15 "the story is about people with a virus trying to kill me. I'm already on edge in real life" LOL
Code veronica is hands down my favourite, then RE5 then RE:ZERO, THEN RE2. Code Veronica once got me through a difficult time in life, so its very special to me.
theandroids code Veronica was my first old school resident evil game.
Code Veronica was awesome. Might have been my favorite from the older consoles
I beat it in a single sitting (on hardcore too!), it is super short, certainly feels like a RE2 remake addon - but it's still a great time
I don't always watch this guys videos, I actually forget most of the time to come check out what he is saying. When I do watch them though I always get the impression he's a really likeable guy like he'd probably be a really good friend to have. I enjoy listening to your take on these games.
Just beat it on first difficulty now for normal. I'm loving it!
Still disappointed they removed the story branching/multiple endings and the Mercenary mode. It takes away from the replay value and makes this look more like a $30 DLC than a $60 game.
Chris L Resistance is replayable...
Are they going to release future DLCs?
@@kirivanyam6035 I hope so. The game is great but it would be a GOTY contender if they add the stuff @Chris L brought up.

Just got the RE2 remake. Mind blowing so far. Shooting infected people actually feels gross for the first time. Doom Eternal is a cartoon next to it...
If people are complaining that it isn't exactly like the original, just remember: it's a REMAKE not a REMASTER!
They aren't complaining that isn't exactly like the original; they are complaining about the game taking steps back from the original and RE2 Remake and being short as f*** and without content for a 60 bucks game.

Remakes are supposed to improve and add content, not remove. Just look at REmake 1. Still the best remake and also the best RE.
Walamonga 1313 I disagree, the best REmake its 2, REmake 1 win the second place. And its more a remaster than a remake

Thanks i always enjoy your....remake of older games/ type of videos.
Resident evil 3 remake is going to be my classic game of all time💓
Was looking forward to this, but they cut so much that it's an easy pass and should have been like a $20-30 release
I despised this action game. They forgot to make a horror title. Boring and stupid.
@Kris ?? What kind of strawman bs is that?! Attacking me for having an informed opinion? (claps)
@Kris you're the type of person to say "oh, your subjective opinion doesn't align with my prealigned bias and world view? you must be mentally ill!" Get real dude, the game is severely underwhelming and a major step backwards from RE2 Remake.
@@carlweathers5714 the original 3 is action packed too, this is a remake of 3
@@thedarkapex5327 Wrong. The original was still a survival horror game with slower areas and constant dread. This game is action set piece after action set piece with a terrible use of Nemesis. All of you that are saying the original is an action game are just moronic fanboys who like to apologize for everything they like. Stop it.
It's the same length as a normal run on resident evil 2. I really don't see the issue
Kind of disappointing with the cuts and how short it is compared to RE2, shouldn't be $60
@Link Breath Of The Wild bruh what
@James Hunt yeah I dont think so buddy
The game took me 7 hours to beat taking my time. It ups the replay ability if the game isn’t too long. Instead of making a long gsme they made a very detailed beautiful world that’s very fun to play again and again. It takes me awhile to judge a great game. To me a great game is a game that I wanna play again. If I wanna play a game again 5 years after it’s been out then it’s a great game.
My first playthrough took just over 8 hours, on my second playthrough now to try and find all the Charlie collectibles. Then trying to figure out which 4 notes I missed.
I totally agree. Actually felt like replaying it immidetly on Hardcore mode. Final fantasy 7 got in the way though. Great replay value. Perfectly paced and Nemesis was and will always be a great boss!

@@nintendohandheld9556 thank you! I just subbed to you're channel awesome content you do!
Yeah, the original was a short game for its time as well. A lot of people want to say otherwise, but it's true. I'm happy with the length. There's a lot to unlock, and there will be future content with this game I'm sure. They might even work on a mercenaries mode. Also, the multiplayer will be pretty good on full release. Betas typically don't have enough people to fill the queue times and make them shorter.
pathetic
@11:00 Dude! I still have and love that shirt! It says Capcom on the pec on the front and basically has what you have on the standee as the back image. This was a MASSIVE conversation starter back in college at the comic store I worked at. Glad you brought it up and are loving and appreciating the game!
And still waiting for the full review :)
I have started Resident Evil 3 COUNTLESS time and is the only classic Resident Evil I've never finished - I sometimes don't like "un-killable" enemies tracking you but the demo was interesting; the mood was painted SO WELL that nowhere feels safe
3 was the first RE I played and also the last I finished. I literally finished it for the first time like 3 years ago even after playing it for the first time in like 2005.
There's just something that makes it really hard for me to keep going. I'd blame the dodge mechanic, my god I hate it so much lol
Nemesis isn't unkillable (Well, ok he doesn't stay dead forever. But he does until the next scripted encounter.) in the original.
finally someone who doesn't just dump on the game for being short
Although he said it’s short but initially stated he’s only halfway through it...🤷🏽♂️
Andy Klaut Tbf, the original was short as well. Even with all those extra locations that were in the remake. My main issue was not enough of Nemesis in his original form . Other than that, I find this game to be better than the original and a lot of fun.
I didn’t have a problem with the length. I have a problem with the story, gameplay and monsters. They all sucked and didn’t make any sense. They missed a hugh opportunity to make re3 stand on its own. But it doesn’t.
RE3 was also released on the Dreamcast. Looking at my copy right now.
Such a good and underrated REmake. I loved it start to finish and didn't mind the parts from the original that were missing and/or changed.
Code Veronica is one of my favorite games. I don’t think it needs a remake lol.
I know I'm going to absolutely love it, but in these isolating times I need games that are LONG unfortunately. but I will definitely pick this up eventually.
Can't believe its been 20 years man.
I was kind of disappointed that the old options theme song didn't appear.
They better have alternate outfits though...Jill Valentines default outfit in this game just looks like Lara Croft's from the Tomb Raider reboot. Pretty reductive.
Got to realize her original outfit looks like what a college student would wear during a summer party it makes 0 sense.
This new default outfit looks like a tactical/utility uniform which considering she is a member of STARS fits perfectly
They brought back Regina's costume from Dino Crisis so I'm a happy camper.
@@moggless not about realism, it's just ridiculous to wear a party outfit in the middle of an zombie apocalypse
Yoy're just too dumb to tell the difference I guess
MUH CLASSIC OUTFIT OH NO I GOTTA COMPLAIN ABOUT IT lmfao
@@gus8426 Uhm. So?? I loved that student outfit on her.
@@ricardolujan4791 if you love it you should've pre order the edition which comes with it and stop crying over meaningless stuff I for once prefer the new one since it fits better with the setting of the game or if you play on pc wait for the modders to add it
This game has bigger issues sadly than the stupid costumes
One of my issues with this is that they cut the branching paths. That's what made the original RE3 fun. Also that it takes 5-7 shots to drop one zombie. And don't start with the "it's survival horror" garbage. The original took 2-3 shots to drop zombies and if one wanted to they could avoid or face zombies, etc. I've played the original both ways and it didn't take away from the experience. Now is it a bad game? No. It's still fun. Is it short? Too short? YES. Is it a(and I'm assuming it still is) 60 dollar game? No frickin way.
I remember when Resident Evil 3 first came out. My friend got a Japanese import and we both went through it in a day.
Thank you for spoil free review and for just using demo footage. Very smart!
I'm glad you like the game. I love it. So replayable. Started on Assisted mode now going for a hardcore run! Was much more intense in normal mode.if they release free DLC I'll be stoked.
I’m ok with games being 6-10 hours. When I was younger I spent my time playing 20+ hour games, it’s not believable these days with work and raising a family.
This game cut so much content and areas from the original. Nemesis doesn't really stalk you for too long. They relegated to him only as boss fights midway into the game which is disappointing.
Mugen Lord which is why I will be happy to play this one and the OG one.
Sam here I just don’t have time for 60 hour plus games anymore
Yeah, but 6 hours for 60 dollars is not worth it. I would even mind if the game was short if it had additional scenarios, but it doesn't.
ryan schreder even with the additional scenarios with RE2R they were not even that much off added content. Basically rep playing the game again with minor differences. But shorts games that are full priced; well that depends on the person.
RE2 has always been my fav in the series, but I'm looking forward to checking this out again too.
A code veronica or dino crisis remake next would be awesome
I don't mind that it's 6-ish hours long. This was the game that got me into Resident Evil, so yeah, I remember the original being not that long. I rented 1 and 2, but I felt I was too dumb to enjoy it. After beating 3, I had the confidence to go back and beat 1 and 2.
A Code Veronica remake would be cool, because the original was seriously a pain in the ass! I beat it, but I still remember wishing it was more enjoyable back in the day.
@Daryl Dixon 3 hours for sixty big ones? That's gotta sting.
I don't mind short games, just means I can finish it before FF7, and also get to play more of my backlog lol

Centurion OG Re3 is my fav RE because of the anxiety nemesis gave me, but I will never understand the "they cut blah blah" complaints, I didnt not expect them to do a full remake. @Dr VR Hell yeah, DC 4 life.
Yeah the game is too short because they cut too much contents from the original it’s not even funny! I just got to the train crash. And noticed there was no rpd section for Jill. No nemesis fight on the train. Nemesis appeared randomly didn’t happen often. Very rare. Only certain part of the game. So far I’m very dissapointed.
I hope they don't make a rush campaign for the upcoming remakes.
NEMESIS is capable of walking up and down the stairs, use a flamethrower and can talk but can't turn a door handle! 🤔
I would love a RE game where if you stay in the safe room for too long zombies will bust the door down or just wait outside the door for you like the latest iPhone release! 😂
The original RE3 will always be my number 1 of them all and being chased by NEMESIS was mind blowing back then plus mercenaries mode, a shame it's not in this game 😌
7/10
I wish Merc. Mode was in re3 but I did give resistance a shot and actually it isn't to bad. But I still would rather have Merc. Mode than resistance.
Can’t wait to play this, just sucks it’s that short and I thought RE2 Remake was really short.
Hope they don’t rush out RE4, I really hope they take their time on it and do it real justice.
Day 1 buy I have to go digital for this one to play but buying physical copy for my collection I'm soooooo happy 🥰🥰
I always liked RE, but I wouldn't call myself a fan, but if the game plays anything like the demo, I will love it. I didn't have much interest in picking this up til I played the demo, and I was hooked. I don't pre order too many games, but I did with this one, and of course, FFVII.
There's still missing one... To complete the main series... We need Veronica... Resident Evil: Code Veronica....
Fair review. I trust your opinion and for a second I was scared you won't mention that it is extremely short.
Right now only 16% of those who have played this game on PS4 have the "Veteran" trophy for completing Hardcore mode...
All the complaining is from the fragile 84%
I believe people are forgetting what a game with 0% post game content is... Those people should compare re3 to the order 1886. The order 1886 is a game with 0% extra content. I have the platinum trophy on both and let me tell you that the people complaining about re3's longevity probably just completed the game on assisted or standard!
I'm praying for Code Veronica remake as well :)
Glad this game got done, as RE3 is my favorite and i am glad it was done mostly well. However 4 to 6 hours I just can not see paying 60$ for, so I will be waiting 9 mo or 1 year til the game is at 30$ and i feel much better about buying it. Thanks Johnny for your views and usual enthusiasm :).
I understand why people feel this way but personally I would say its quality over quantity for me. The campaign in RE3 may be short but its absolutely relentless from beginning to end. The six hours I spend with RE3 were way better than the 30 hours I spent with something like say Horizon Zero Dawn or Far Cry 4. Not to say those games are bad but RE3 is nothing but AMAZING moments with no superficial padding to extend the length. I feel like I got my moneys worth.
so tight you have the stand-ups! re 3 was my first foray into the nightmare and ive been a fan of the series since! also lemme just say, it is really good seeing you on the regular again. hope you’re doing well, HCG ✌🏽
People say the game's too short. Play hardcore it unlocks nightmare mode and that unlocks inferno mode. There ya go.
No Johnny it isn't a short game for having the same joy I had playing the original it truly brought back that RE3 experience in a new way. It's an amazing experience as it was the original. Now we need RE8, RE: CV remake and RE4 remake this new art direction of the series has brought it back from the dead!
How you did a 1st thoughts on a 5 hour game is beyond me. You are skilled.
great review man
Actually it’s around 8/10 hours if you count the cut scenes. The time given to you at the end with your overall score excludes them, which I’m sure you’ll be able to skip in a second play through. But on your first try you’ll have to sit through them. Time also depends on the difficulty level and the player.
Brenda Correa its 5 hours max dude. Watched a live full playthroughs with 8 deaths without speed running and or efficiency in mind and the stream was 5 hours 😂 even re2rm was 10+ hours on first scenario.
Right that intro u did is crazy man.
I am thankful for your honesty. Sadly I can't afford Resident Evil 3 Remake. Capcom didn't adjust the price tag for my country. The price tag is double. Imagine if you have to pick RE3 Remake at $120 bucks. It's a big NO for me. :(

So much content was cut idk how it's a good remake. At least re2 remake actually kept most of what happened in the original but this took away the beginning how you run around before finding the police station and then running around the police station. Oh and the clock tower and the puzzles?? And nemesis is so bad in this, so scripted and like a mini boss fight when you knock him down he gives weapon upgrades? It's a sad remake compared to 2. Nemesis was always scripted. What actually makes it different is the lack of Live Selection. That feature is what made RE3 worth replaying (along with the epilogues and costumes ofc)

You've just made me even more excited to get this game tonight / tomorrow. Already pre-ordered on PC. I don't mind the game being a bit short: RE2 was hardly a lengthy campaign either (just we had 2 characters and that A and B scenario to make up for it). RE traditionally has been about short survival horror experiences that invite you to replay them, get better at them, unlock all their secrets and reap the rewards from it.
Very stoked for RE3! Looks incredible and the demo was stunning.
0:00 funny joke, love that John, genius comedy :)
So glad to see the extra love for RE: Code Veronica. I'm biased because I have such fond memories of the Dreamcast, but that one is my favorite RE game of all time.
I got RE3 for Dreamcast back in the day (still have it). Definitely was more anxiety inducing than the first two. At least in 1 & 2 you could sort of build a "safe" area where you backtracked and didn't have to worry about enemies so much after you killed them but with 3, everything is always moving forward that was rarely the case... as well as Nemesis of course. I'm interested in checking this one out.
Oh and a Code: Veronica remake would be awesome! That game was fantastic.

They need to stop wasting time with that Resident Evil Riverdale edition.
lol, exactly, the amount of effort they put into that shit they could have added the clocktower and raccoon city park instead into the main game.
Code Veronica is definitely the next to get a remake👍🏼
I always think code Veronica is the proper resident evil 3 rather than this dlc like Jill adventure 😂, but what is done is done, and we get nemesis as proper re3
The fuckin' remake is so beautiful, graphically. Every detail. I mean, they have fuckin' fingerprints on items when you examine them. The fog and lighting from the streetlamps.
It's phenomenal. But.. it is really short.
RE3 Remake is for lack of a better word Anemic, but for what it is it's a good game but because of the short length, the quick pacing and lack of content I would recommend waiting until it drops down to at least $40 which I don't think will take very long. Unless you're a hardcore fan of the series and don't mind paying full price.
An interesting fact...RE 3 Nemisis was initially never supposed to be “RE 3.” Code Veronica was the third entry in the series, but do to contract commitments RE 3 needed to be a ps1 exclusive on launch.
