  • Here at BT Life Events, we don’t believe that beautiful things have to cost a fortune. Too many of us know that when you’re wedding planning and reaching out to various vendors and venues, the mention of the word wedding often causes prices to skyrocket. We believe that you can have a chic, gorgeous wedding with an understated budget; because of this belief, we’ve begun a new series named Chic for Cheap where we will feature affordable DIYs that bring the drama but save your budget. This week’s challenge: a gorgeous centerpiece crafted from hula hoops, a pool noodle, and clipboards. Grab your spray paint and your glue gun and let’s get crafting!
    I was able to get the materials I needed at a total of three stores: Dollar Tree ( Silk Flowers, Clipboards, Ribbon, and Hanging Orb ), Walmart ( Hula Hoops, Rust-Oleum Spray Paint ) and Lowes ( Pool Noodle and Screws ). I have included a list of materials and prices below; anything without a price listed is something that I already owned.
    Materials Needed:
    • Drill
    • Silk Flowers ( $30 )
    • Pack of 1” Screws ( $0.50 )
    • ( 2 ) Hula Hoops ( $2 )
    • ( 1 ) Pool Noodle ( $1.98 )
    • Gorilla Wood Glue
    • ( 2 ) 9 x 12 in. Clipboard ) ( $2 )
    • Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks
    • Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover, Metallic Spray Paint in Gold ( $3.96 )
    • OPTIONAL: Ribbon ( $1 )
    • OPTIONAL: Hanging Orb ( $1 )
    • OPTIONAL: Rectangular Wooden Plaque

    Lovely idea. I think adding greenery would make it look more naturally and reduce the number of flowers used . Thank you so much for such an inspiration.

  • @gardenjoy5223

    Nice! But I don't get what you need the clipboards for. I'd just screw it on the wooden log and put some wooden branches in the pool noodle to tie it all together. And I think I'd secure the pool noodle parts with three zip ties each. The cost of the thing might be reduced, if you work with foliage a bit more. Especially foliage you had left from previous projects. But I like to seem some greenery. Might bring the costs down to 25 dollars, if you find your flowers in bulk sale as well.
    Overall a beautiful centerpiece with a lovely color combination.

    Hi there, looks stunning 🤩 just one question? why did you cut the pool noodle cause I made these and I just opened my hoop and slide the noodle in instead of cutting it and when you want to remove it just slide it right out again instead of cutting I just thought it was easier that way but yours turned out gorgeous I made one for my brothers wedding☺️☺️

    • @BTLifeEvents
      @BTLifeEvents  3 роки тому +1

      Orginally that was my plan too lol I couldn't figugre out how to open my hula hoop though so decided to cut the noodle and just wrap it around the hoop. I plan on remaking this soon though so I'll defeinely give your way a try next time because it probably is the easier way!

    Hi Brandi! I made this centerpiece and had a quick question...how do you keep the pool noodle from falling down and or leaning back? It’s like it too heavy.

    • @BTLifeEvents
      @BTLifeEvents  4 роки тому

      Hey Opal, I'm so happy to hear that you made your own version!!! If your pool noodle isn't staying secured to the hula hoop, try attaching the noodle to the hoop using a hot glue gun or E6000. If the hoops are tilting backwards, try discreetly securing the base with more screws to balance the weight!

    • @opalwade5332
      @opalwade5332 4 роки тому

      Brandi Tatiano Life Events thank you! I tried to hot glue it and it was melting. Then I tried it on low. It was ok but I didn’t try and glue it to the hula hoop, so next time I’ll try e6000. I will also reinforce with extra screws.

    This was very interesting tutorial, however I could not hear you. The music was no tc offensive but loud. It drowned out your voice. I wear ear buds to watch videos. I was in love with the finished product. Thank you for the inspiration.
