For more security of the hoop, i epoxied it between the 2x2s and clamped them together until it cured. That way you don’t have to lean and squeeze while trying to secure the 8x8. Also I found that I had to trim the square to about 7x8 because the arc of the hoop kept it from sitting flat
I doing something similar for my party except using a cakestand to attach the hoops because I am using 2 hoops intersecting and this gave me more ideas!

This is really good. Which one do you prefer the hoop or firewood rack. My only concern is I will be adding balloons, will the hoop stay round. I hope it doesn’t bend.
I think either would work the firewood rack is much bigger than the hula hoop one I think both would hold their shape for a balloon arch though.

Do you know the measurements between the circle base to the top of the hoop? I am curious to how big of a cake I can fit in there.

The type of spray paint is the kind that can be found at a hardware store in the paint section or a craft store. So places like Michaels, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. would have it, the brand she’s using is rustoleum (hope I’m spelling that right), it’s a good quality brand with nice coverage and they carry so many colours, shades and finishes!
Can I use this tutorial to make a large round backdrop stand? Would it stand? I’m curious this hooks hoop doesn’t fall forward or backward? The wooden pieces keep it snug snug?
I have never tried a super big arch with this technique but you could absolutely try! You may want to build a bit more support though coming at an angle near the bottom for additional stability
What size is best for a centerpieces for a quinceanera
Can you spray paint without removing to plastic? I can’t get these decorative plastic off the hoop!
You can definitely try there may be some texture that comes through but it may not matter depending on how the hoop is covered with greenery.

how do you keep the hoop from leaning? squeezing the blocks while drilling didnt cut it. :(
Hiya, instead of nails can the wood be hot glued down?
You could try not 100% sure how long it would last or be sturdy but its worth a shot otherwise wood glue may work too!
How do you store this? Is it easy to separate the hoop from the base?
Super easy! The hoop is floating in between the base so unless you decide to secure it more you can easily separate the base from the hoop for storage
