You made that clamp much quicker than I did as an apprentice in 1967! No machine tools - Hacksaw, Files, Hand tap and dye, clamp surfaces flattered using a surface plate and scraper. Looking back, I really enjoyed it, but today's possibilities are amazing and no less skilful.
Here the list of what you did wrong: (1) Wrong material. Cold rolled steel is not suitable, too soft and has inner tensions. Better take a C45 or C60 (2) Where on earth did you learn to use a file? (3) Gloves. First of all why and secondly very dangerous. Can pull your hand into the machine. (4) Clamping on the thread in the lathe chuck. You already damaged the thread. (5) Welding… ? Not a toolmaker style, but of course it works. I prefer soldering. Indeed the toolmakers clamp is a nice tool. It can clamp plates better than any other tool. Thank you so much for the video, even when I felt the need to critcise it.

The long part is called the tap and I believe that it is a m10 type tap and the part that you hold is called a tap wrench
