Pisses me off that everyone's hating on the Celica cause it's FWD yet no one's hating on the DC2. Both are great cars and just cause they're not RWD doesn't mean they aren't fast
If you watch the entire episode you’ll know the Celica was his favorite car compared to all the Hondas that day. Obviously his prized hachiroku won’t be won over by a Celica but he still voted for the Celica
I dont like racing the celica at all. Comfy daily and fairly quick but that damn fwd just feels wrong and understeer is oh too real. I dont think ive ever had understeer in the ae86 lol entry speeds are freaking awesome
Well, I do not think the 1ZZ-FE is a garbage, in fact I think it's an excellent engine, reliable with a decent performance and fuel economy for its time, but for a more mundane vehicle like the corolla, it is assumed that the celica is something a bit more sporty, exclusive and special therefore it is worthy of something better like the 2ZZ-GE. regards
@@cody8860 it’s “rubbish” cuz it’s in a Corolla? Gtfo. It’s still a peppy engine. And the ECU tune and gearbox is different on the GT. How about you actually drive one. If you drive an auto GT, then you’ll slow af, but a manual, you’ll be alright.
@@omarawilson2853 I've driven a stock mr2 Spyder & a 2zz swap as an ex mechanic, they are garbage. The chassis is way over built and its a brilliant car around corners but limited by its engine. Both were manual and I swapped the engine & gearbox for a friend. The 1zz is not a reliable engine by Toyota standards either.
@@cody8860 well I’m not a mechanic. So I can only speak for myself. But I currently own a GT and have driven a GT-S and few other Honda products. My 2003 1zz is pushing 173,000 miles and is perfectly fine. So I’d say it’s quite reliable. And when compared to the RSX I drove, I’d take my Celica any day. The RSX was faster on straights but I didn’t feel the same level of confidence in the corners than I did with my Celica. So I personally love the chassis design. The GT-S was great on the straights but I never got to take it around corners unfortunately so I’ll never know about that.

I’ve literally never understeered in my Celica. It’s a joy to drive around corners. Learn to drive better
