Welcome to the US! I moved to the US from the Uk back in the 90's Was a lot different then. Social media was near non excistent then, so it truly was a lonely experience for me. Lived in Chicago for 20 years before moving to Georgia. Still miss all my family and friends in the UK but over time you learn to live with it. Overall...greatest decision I made for my career and advancement, But without the Lord, I dont think I would have made it...Once again...Welcome to the U.S.A!
That’s so funny 😂 when I studied in the US (NY) no one was amazed by my British accent. It’s hilarious because the people amazed by the way I speak are always British 😂. Can’t wait to move back I just pray God makes a way ❤ I’m so happy for you
I really admire you doing this massive move/change in your life! I’ve felt stuck lately, and it’s really encouraging to see that it can be done even if it’s hard. Alsooo, yes! It takes 14-16 hours to drive from one side of my state to the other lol people joke that Americans never travel and see the world, but I feel like we travel a bunch… but it only gets us around a few states lol
Yes its wild how big the states are! And yes it really can be done. I would say start with planning out your goals for the next 12 months or so and setting out what you want from life - that really is the best place to start and then it causes you to embrace everything that fits within that and reject opportunities/steps that do not align.
What’s it like in terms of maintenance like hair, nails and buying clothes? Abit of a silly question but I’ve wondered like how would i know where to go 😩
Not a silly question! So I haven't done my hair here yet but when I am ready to I will ask for some recommendations from my black friends here, and nails...not gonna lie I googled the closest places and read some reviews and decided that way (I still haven't been able to find a better pedicure than London salons but hey ho lol) and buying clothes again I just googled the nearest mall and thankfully found a H&M and there is also ASOS here. I also order from PLT and Nike too and then when I am in New York I hit up Zara.
I really feel you. I actually first wanted to move to the US in 2013 but nothing was aligning. I was trying so hard to plan the move but it just wasn’t time. I know this sounds so cliche but when it’s your time it will work. In the meantime keep working towards what you can now with what you have and if it’s meant to be you’ll get there! I had to wait 7 years before I got the green light and all the work I did in the waiting, on my career, on my healing journey, ministry, friendships etc I’m reaping the benefits now in this season. So hold on and keep grinding away at the dream and vision you have in your heart x
Does the food taste different to you? What about water? Good or bad? Do you find that people are friendly? Do you find that things (shops) are too far away as opposed to when you lived back home? Additionally, prices vary depending upon where you shop. Maybe a Super Walmart would be cheaper for groceries. Also, prices change, for the same items, based on the areas you’re in as well. So perhaps you’ll be able to spend less, but it will not be a huge drop. Glad you like it so far. Good luck. Hope there is someone at work that can show you around .
Hi! Yes food definitely tasted different, very salty and sweet at first but I found some really good supermarkets where I could buy fresher ingredients. The water tastes different, not bad just different. For me Walmart groceries did not taste good so now I shop in a few other places. I generally find that I have to go to different places for different things but it's also a way to keep costs down.
@@Alexandrasblog_ LMAO. I feel the same way about Walmart, but I wanted to put the option out there. I didn't want to mention it wasn't the best quality. HA. People swear by Aldi for fresh fruits and veggies but, the store I went to, the options were limited. Anyway, it seems like you have found what you needed.
Fabulous videos, are you buying a property out there, if so can you make a video about that on UA-cam. You have a good soul and the powers that be will Bring people into your life that will build your confidence in yourself and your environment. I moved away from London 2 1/2 years ago to Devon by myself, there was a reason for everything that proceeded to move me and now feel more confident in myself to now move to USA. Keep strong and healthy, don’t expect too much of your emotions, positivity wins the day. Someone said to me once, never go backwards always go forwards, the best advice I have ever been given, I write this down once a week to keep me focused 😊
Love this! So at the moment I don't have any plans to buy a property but once I have more of an idea of my long term goals from an immigration perspective then it will definitely be something that I look into given that the property prices in the south are so much more affordable than London (for obvious reasons lol)
So I had already purchased a car through an expat car company that my company is connected with but I couldn’t pick it up until I had a US drivers licence. So I had to find a driving school and take a couple of lessons so they could see how I drove and then I used the driving school car to do the test. And yes I also had to do a theory test. Apparently each state is different as I have a friend who moved to nyc and all they had to was the theory test and not the practical test.
Yesss!!! I've been waiting for this video for so long. Buy can I ask you what church u went to in the UK? I need to find a church home🙏🏾🙏🏾 I actually have a dream of moving to US too, but I realise especially last year that I needed to grow in my faith and also to surround myself with positive/faith believing friendship. 2022 I really lost alot of friendships, but in hindsight, I think God was stripping me of bad company. I'm trusting God 💯 for His guidance fully this time, by His grace.
Awww I’m glad! I hope you enjoy! I tend to post a few more updates on instagram as it’s a lot easier! And yes ofc! Here is the link to the church I attended youtube.com/@phwalthamforest it’s a great church and they have branches all over the UK
So I actually wanted to move here in 2013 but after praying about it and speaking to my pastor I knew that at that time I was trying to run away and it just wasn’t God’s timing. It’s funny because my pastor actually said that I needed to grow in friendships and be vulnerable and allow certain things to happen and boy did they do just that! I lost a lot of friends and went on a crazy journey however a lot of what I went through led to healing, deliverance and being in a position where almost 10 years later I was ready to move to the States and receive all that God has for me. Continue trusting Him! He will not fail you and He will open the right doors at the right time x

I just found your channel and I’m literally obsessed 🤩
U are GLOWING ❤
This is so insightful ❤️
Ty for making this video 💕
Love to hear this for you! You’ve given me up that maybe there is better life out there for me too 👏😌
There really is! It’s all about being strategic and planning through what you want and what would work for you.

For the driving test, did you use a rental or did you purchase a car and do the driving test in it? Did you have to do the theory test too?

Is there a different in the holiday allowance between the US & the UK, i get the impression you have less time in the US
So there would be usually but my company is actually an exception and offers unlimited vacation - in the UK firm I got 25 days
