I resonate with what you said about having that yearly blueprint and remaining patient. I decided I wanted to make the move this year. In 6 months when I complete my master's, I'm going to start applying for new jobs at companies with offices in the US. I'm a data scientist and I personally wanna immigrate to either Texas, Florida or Georgia. I want some heat!
i'm sick of living in the UK. i have a degree in law and masters in social work. I've done a lot of research and cant find a way out to US. Any assistance/guidance?
Hey, aside from work another two options are applying to study (university) or applying for the diversity visa (lottery process). It’s closed for 2024 but it will open again next November
i REALLY want to migrate to the US so badly as well, but unfortunately, U can only get to the US through, marriage/family sponsorship/Big Company Visa/Become international student. I dont fit any of these. And I already have a masters, I dont plan to take up more debt becoming a student in US. I am a bit depressed about this. I am asking God for guidance on what to do now.
I’m sorry to hear it’s been so hard for you. And I agree these are typically the main options for being able to move here. I first wanted to move in 2012 and literally had no options at that point. It can take time but if you’re meant to be here it will all line up and the right doors will open for you.

@monabrown101 please look into the Greencard lottery as an option. Every year it opens up&Brits can now apply too. Basically it's perm res without the attachment to an employer.
Hi , I am 15 year old boy( Year 10) who’s been to the USA 9 times in my life and I am a black brit (Nigerian). I love the country but there are no other ways for me to move there permanently. I am just focused on getting my GCSE and A levels , then do a mechanical engineering degree. Or any engineering course related too that at University. Do you think it’s possible to move and be living in the US before I am 25 years old.
Hi there! So I think you have two possible options 1) through choosing to do your degree at an american university and then potentially staying after that (if you get a job/sponsorship when you have finished university) or 2) through the route that I took which is working for a UK company and then transferring to its american office using a specialized skill which I believe engineering would be
Can I add as of this year as a Brit you can now apply for Greencard lottery aka automatic perm res without attachment to a job. Usually opens every year Q3/Q4 in the year. Lots of info on YT, US websites.
congratulations on your move! i’m hoping to move soon so i’m happy i’ve now found your channel. just one question- does your credit score from the UK follow you over to the states or would it start all over again?
Thank you! And all the best with your move! So from my understanding it doesn’t lol. When I was sorting out a car I ended up having to go through an expat company that my company referred me to as I had no US credit history to lease a car. The easiest way to build this up when you get here is to get a credit card!
Hey there! Interview practice is literally the key, once you nail that down it's a game changer! Here is a link to a video that I did in 2021 talking about how I prepped for my interviews which got me the job at the Big 4 and I also share some links in the video description to some videos that really helped me prepare. I hope this helps! ua-cam.com/video/R3yUs18x290/v-deo.html
Hey! Thank you so much for this insightful video. I work in finance in London and my company is regulated by the FCA. I work in compliance, any chance I could get a job in the US you think? Thank you
Hey there! So I also worked in compliance for 8 years! From my experience your best (and most likeliest) option is to work in compliance for a London company that has US offices and then transfer over. What worked in my favor was that I had knowledge of the US and EU reg rules.
This was extremely helpful! Thank you so much. Do you have any views about at what point in your career it is easiest to make the move considering visas etc?
Hey! So glad you found this helpful! So from a visa perspective - with the H-1B you can apply for this at any time (you just need to have an employer sponsor) however for the L1 you are only eligible once you have worked at the foreign office (which in my case was the UK office) for at least one year
@@moonlightbaesz as i'm not in that field I am not sure. I think it would depend on whether the model agency could prove that they needed a person in the US (from the UK/elsewhere) to carry out a particular function that is beneficial to their market in the US.

Great video! I'm fresh out of university and I'm desperate to move. How long were you in the UK company before you were able to move out there? Thanks!

Hi thank you for this detailed information. I live in the US and currently dating someone from London. We are trying to figure out a way to get him to move here; without having to use an immigration attorney. Any tips or suggestions? Thank you in advance
Hi, unfortunately I don’t. My experience was very specific to transferring with my company so everything was built into that process. I mean if he wanted to transfer with a company then they would also do all the legal work and documentation for him too.
Hi there, ermm i mean i didn't find it hard. I read the DMV Handbook beforehand and did some practice questions on the DMV website and on another random website I found. It was good prep as I got 100% on the day. What do you mean by vision/sign tests for international? Are you asking whether I had to do these? If so then yes I did. I did this before sitting the knowledge test.
Hey thanks for the video it was useful! Quick question; I have a business management degree and 3 years experience in leadership etc. will it be hard to get a job in this field in the USA? I feel my degree is too broad :( any advice please, where to look for jobs & standing out to be sponsored?:( x
Hi! Tbh as i've only ever worked in financial services I wouldn't be able to advise on anything outside of what I did as I wouldn't want to steer you wrong! My goal was to get a role at a company that had offices in the USA/had an international transfer program and then once joining, understand what people in my role/area of expertise did in the states to understand what value I could bring/ what skills I needed/what type of projects I needed to work on to be able to move. It was literally from doing a bunch of a researching and networking and speaking to people that I figured out the best route for me.

Hi! Unfortunately I can’t answer your question as it’s very specific and not in any way related to the work that I do. So I can’t advise specifically. But I would suggest that you speak to an immigration lawyer (you can google immigration advice) and talk through what your options would be. You could also research an American company who specialises in what you want to do and ask them how you could move across as a British person and what that would look like. You might also want to consider doing your degree in the US.

Hi! Unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to advise as my circumstances were very specific to financial services. I’m not sure what the requirements are for other careers/ trades. I would suggest that you get immigration advice to get the right answer but I’m assuming that you wouldn’t be able to convert a tourist visa to a work visa.
