In this video, I will take you on a late-night Indonesian street food tour of Surabaya to try some death-level spicy Sambal and the best fried duck in the city.
To start our Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya, we went to a legendary spot to try the famous Bebek Goreng, fried duck.
Moving on with our Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya, we tried another iconic dish called, Tahu Telor.
After that, we had the most unique Nasi Goreng I've tried so far, Nasi Goreng Cumi, squid ink-infused fried rice.
To end our Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya, we had an incredibly delicious Soto Ayam and the spiciest meal I've ever had in my life at Sego Sambel Mak Yeye. This almost killed me!

So the sambal itself is not that spicy if you only eat it with the egg and tempeh. However, there’s something in the smoked stingray that can build up and elevates the spiciness 😂 if you eat it together, for sure it will numb your tongue 😂

Yeah, thats the problem with sambal, its addictive, its super spicy, but make you want to eat more n more 😅

that's the most delicious sambal you gonna taste in indonesia. in term of spiciness there are a lot more sambal around indonesia that is more spicy than that. but in term of taste, nothing can beat the east javanese sambal. maybe you should try the not so spicy one instead to actually taste the real flavor of it. if you can not really handle spicy food but want to taste sambal always heed the seller warning when they ask you "sambalnya pedas atau tidak?" just don't say pedas. even in indonesia there are people who can't handle spicy food but they love to try sambal anyday and there also the option where you can have the not so spicy sambal.

as someone who enjoys sambal but can't handle the spice, I'd usually ask for some kecap manis to mix with the sambal. idk if only my family does this but we really love to mix sambal with kecap manis 😆

Smoked stingray (iwak pe asap) make sambal more spicier. Hot taste + hot temperature.

Poor stomach... one of the first ways to deal with a hot stomach after eating spicy food is to drink milk or other processed products. This is because milk contains protein, so it can bind and dissolve capsaicin which causes the stomach to feel hot and burning after eating spicy food.
