One comment to the Novablast 5 .. imo you can't use that for walking (much) or standing all day. It's not really stable for walking but great for running. Just my experience from the last 2 weeks.
@@Trustiieee yeah I only run on concrete in dry conditions so I don't care too much about that but heard that part. The Novablast are awesome though :) super fun to run
Some models in the Saucony line that have a PWRRUN midsole also have a PWRRUN insole which adds another level of comfort than your usual Ortholite insole.
Personally they need to make a three segment mid sole firmer for stability arch support. Ball of the foot really soft. And heel not as firm as the midsole. But make it a walking shoe, zero drop.
Hi James, excellent review. Thank you. Can I check with you if Mizuno Wave Inspire is still one of your recommendations for preventing calf strains. Also, what alternatives are there for me. Best wishes for 2025 and keep up the great content.
Personally, I found the NB More V5 and 1080 v14 are the most comfortable shoes for recovery run and walking/standing. Also the Mizuno Wave Sky 8 is great as well.
I have a very wide feet with high arch. I just had surgery on my right foot to fix a bunion and hammered big toe and the one next to it. I am a big fan of your channel for all the information you give to us, so thank you! I wear most my New Balance 990 V6 size 13 width 6E, and would like to ask which ones should I get, between the Topo Phantom 3, the Hoka Gaivota 5, the Asics Gel Nimbus 26, or should I keep the New Balance 990 V6 (or other sneakers from the video) I am located in Los Angeles and I walk a lot (not much running). Thank you for any info!
Hi - thanks for your comment and watching the channel. I can't provide direct advice without an assessment so broadly speaking. There aren't many shoes on the market that have as many width options as the 990's and there aren't many shoes on the market that are a 6E. The downside to the 990's is the 15mm heel drop which can place extra pressure on the forefoot. Of the 3 that you mentioned, the Gaviota 5 in a wide may be the best option to try see how it feels.
I walk and stand a lot at work and I take around 16k steps a day and around 2k steps a hour at times and I need a shoe that will help with tired and sore calves but I can’t wear a shoe that has a high stack height. It kinda gives me knee pain and also I have a super narrow foot for a man I’m closer to a B in width so I need a shoe to where my feet are not swimming around in them.
I really love novablast 5, but the only problem is my outer ankle bone keeps rubbing the padding around it. Not sure if there is something I can do to fix it🥲
Gaviota 5’s

Yes anything with a high heel drop or with a very good forefoot rocker 👍

You could try a slight lift in the shoe
