  • Do you have a US issue blanket sitting around that you never were sure how to put the US on? Watch this episode to learn the easy to do and common chain stitch. The chain stitch was used on the originals that several reproduction blankets were based off of, including the Woodburn Mount. The stencil from this blanket is now available through Civil War Digital Digest. Watch the episode to learn the stitch and how to get the stencil. Thank you to Matt Woodburn for his support of this episode and the hobby over the years!

This is awesome! Now I have to find my stencil and thread and get to work on my blanket. It’s only been about 15 years sense I got my blanket ,just didn’t know what to do. Thank you

Thanks CWDD for the demo . *LIKED* another fine production ... I picked up some wool yarn from a pard to try this on my blanket.

What is the approximate length of yarn needed for each line of stitching?

I’m honestly not sure. I didn’t measure that. Sorry. Will

I tried it out on my own using a pretty light weight yarn. I used 5-6 times the length of the line I was stitching and it worked well.

Are you supposed to soak the blanket like the other stitch?

That isn’t a bad idea. The stitch is about the lettering. The shrink is about preparing the surface.
