  • STI have a great reputation for accuracy and this pistol was no exception. A typical 1911, built sturdy however I replaced the original STI magazine with a Wilson Combat one for better reliability.

As a CZ fan, then forced to Glock, when I got onto the 1911, just wow, accuracy and handling was great, only downside was single stack mags.

great review I own a Spartan (my first semi 9mm) loved it so much I purchased a Trojan love them both … a bit old and sore and have reverted to revolvers (hard to pick up shells) but I still love to give the STI's a run a times

Been running a Trojan 9mm for IDPA for the last 6 years. The thing has never skipped a beat. Phenomenal gun for the money.

I've seen these STI pistols at my local dealer but never gave them a lot of thought, maybe it's time to go have a closer inspection.
I do like 1911 looking pistols and 9mm is my ammo. of choice.

If you shoot CASS rules for the Wild Bunch, you can use 45ACP in the Traditional and Modern categories. Depends on your club, club state association and state laws...

Your stock mag probably has a weak spring so doesn't lock back the slide. Can try stretching the spring out to give it some more strength. Also try Mec-Gar 1911 9mm mags, bit more affordable. Nice shooting and good review 👍

i am curious as to why, in Australia, you aren't allowed to shoot at paper targets with anything bigger than a 45acp?, or did i misunderstand that?

In order to obtain a sporting handgun license you can only use the handgun under sporting conditions. So what ever your shooting a handgun at must be approved for club use by the relevant state police. As far as I'm aware you can shoot say a Desert Eagle in 44mag at paper but again it must be approved by police for that club to do that. What he was referring to is that one of the only ways you can get those calibers under a sporting license is to compete in Metallic Silhouette.

Standard pistol licence is up to 38 cal any higher you need to get an approval to use a higher caliber in acreddited events. You can still shot at paper targets wit a caliber above 38 but you can't log it as it isn't an acreddited event (MS, WA)

I think it's a QLD thing. Apparently they have restrictions on anything that is over 40 cal but NSW doesn't which is strange and another stupid gun law designed by clueless politicians.

@@deezeed2817 yep you're correct. I had a laugh too. 50 Bmg is specifically banned in QLD but no restrictions on calibers that I know of, I mean you can get a cannon on a Cat A licence for crying out load lol damn sideways laws
