Just talked myself out of this brace kit last fall, but now that you've shown the way keeping the body on you've kinda killed all my excuses lol. Thanks Mike
Mike, the other thing you might have tried (at 9:01 of video, re: center part of frame rail - bring the new plate half in behind that structural piece you cut 1/2 out. If you could slide the box section behind the plate, you could use the holes in the original ‘69 frame to rosette weld each half of your gusset plates. Then add weld beads where they overlap at each outer edge. Just visualized that as I got to this part. 😊👍
I love the train of thought. Unfortunately, those existing holes are not on the same plane as the new side plates, almost a half-inch away. It would be difficult to slide the angled side plate in there too... not a lot of room. Again, love the input!
Great video Mike, I to am a POR 15 fan but I have not used the accelerator yet so it’s great to hear it worked not sure if it is important to you but I might have measured the thinner and added it to the paint can’s to help remove all the paint just because it is so expensive or maybe I am just cheap Ha I can’t wait for the next video . Thanks as always ✌️
@@FastMonty can’t wait to hear how your bad ass GTO handle’s after the frame stiffening is completed . Hears a thought maybe if you have enough spare time you should start a car club for Pontiac’s ,maybe Monty’s Ponty’s
Hi Mike, great job on the install, it turned out great! I have one question, as I know you mentioned how you had to relearn how to drive the car in a later video. Can you please do a video of how the car feels to you on the road? I did see that you did a torsional measurement, but is there a big difference in feel or just a minor one?
Good question Brad... I honestly can't explain the difference, but yes, night and day. Kind of like going from a Cadillac ride to a Corvette, if that makes sense? It just reacts differently to imperfections in the road, etc... Sorry, like I said, really hard to explain. :)
@Fast Monty's Garage Mike, Thanks for the quick response and explanation, I understand what you mean. I love the Pontiac videos! Your channel has been a great motivation for me on my 64 GTO restoration journey and also very informative at the same time! Keep up the awesome work!!! 👍
You are just butchering everything you touch with that plasma cutter - NOT what it is designed for nor is a sawzall that you keep mentioning. Not to mention you are lucky you didn't burn that car up - again NOT what the plasma is designed for

You are having waaaaaay too much fun with that plasma cutter! Amazing content, as usual.
Ha! Yes, yes I am... might need a plasma cutting support group after I'm done. Thanks for the comment!

Great job Mike
Thanks Bill!
Nice work buddy!
Thanks Roddy!
Actually I think I'd prefer to do it as you have with the full weight on all 4 wheels. Can't wait to see how it rides . Ps. Don't forget to weigh it 🙂
Ha! Thanks Roy! Yep, I weighed it... I'll be discussing that in the last video. (The FINAL Install) Thanks!

Thanks John! Interesting idea about getting the last of it out of the can... I might just implement that, next time. Thanks again!

Yeah, I got addicted to Plasma cutting. lol agreed that a cut off wheel is the way to go. Thanks!
Hire someone to come weld for you - cost you a couple hundred bucks. again, butchering a great car
If I can do it, anyone can. That's the point of the channel... it's fine.
Great job Mike
Thanks! Much appreciated!
