    If you cut them off they might grow back. I know if you cut a chantrell off go back there 2 weeks later and you will have another mushoom. If you cut them you don't disturb the micellium (roots) of the shrooms. if you cut a large stemed chantrelle x cut the stem with your knifr and in two weeks you will have 4 nice buttons!!

    Only in WA state ... Invasion of the Body Snatchers .... Reason for cutting is to leave the mychorrizal base (and root filaments in the soil for further growth and regrowing on the same fruiting base.

    Good video but I was sad to see that you guys were using solid bags. You should carry mesh bags like an onion bag. That way you'll be dropping spores while your walking to insure new growth. Spread the spores!

      It’s not a necessity. To judge someone’s knowledge/experience on their bag is sad & immature. True it does spread them a ton with a bag like that but you’re still spreading spores all over if you pick them regardless. And mushrooms mycelium is always grow resistantly and constantly without our help. It’s fine.

      While it may make you feel good using a mesh bag, in reality land mushroom spores are so small that it's completely unnecessary. They will drift out the top of even the most tightly knit sack.

  •  4 роки тому +1

    I like that you cut them from the ground instead of taking the mycilium too! It disturbes the mycilium so it is not very good to do.

    • @ReviewOutdoorGear
      @ReviewOutdoorGear  4 роки тому

      That’s why we cut them. 🙂

    • @liliyanatiazhko3583

      Not really mycelium lives deep in the soil where the roots are and it will keep on blooming until it dies completely

    We used to find them, plenty of them in the Blues above Dayton, Wa sometime around Memorial Day weekend. We'de head toward the TuCannon then look for the down timber areas. The biggest challenge was hitting the hills for them ~ before ~ the deer found them! Moved away in '01 but sure do miss going up into the Blues for those wonderful morsels. Thanks for this video!

    Appreciate the video, but good ethics dictate that you only take 1/2 to 2/3 of what you find and leave the rest to grow naturally for spore production and food for wildlife.

    Watching this video gave me a lot of laughs. They are using a solid bag and NOT spreading the spores.That is the Worst thing a morel hunter can do!Regardless of what the mycologists' say,the best way for regrowth is to spread the pores.There is billions-yes I said billions -of spores in each mushroom.
