Hello Dave! I hope you'll reply🥹 I would like to use the fog light and the angel eye at the same time, when the car turns and as a fog light. (As I used the factory ones) so no Drl at all. I saw a same comment to this, where you said you can just easily wire them up. But.. My problem is, that I tried one fog light on, just to test it. But the CANbusz (that orange thing idk) is always heating up too much. I can't even really touch it it burns even after like 2 minutes of using them. I'm very worried that if I install it it might cause fire or something. I bought my set in aliexpress.
The orange thing is a resistor to prevent bulb error on the dash, yes they get very hot because isn't doing it job. I have ran these lights on 2 cars and not had an issue with them being behind the grilles
No resistors used, indicators are wired to pin 9 on back of light. Power and ground are wired my glovebox light. You can run power from top row in fuse box also. The leds need 12v to run correctly, won't work if you wire to lights as the voltage fluctuates due to canbus
hihi boss, I want to turn on and off the fog lamp and angel eye at the same time, do I connect the angel eye wiring of the product to the canvas wiring? together on and off fog lights and angel eyes, not DRL
Hi Dave , angel rings will work all the time after u unlock the car ? After u start your ignition they will still work untill u stop the car and lock it ?
I have bought the same fog lights for my Scirocco, there was also a black/green wire, what happened with that ? Also how and where was the canbus attached to ?
I guess you mean resistor rather than canbus, it connects between then factory harness and the new fog light. Black and green wire! Mine came with black and red. Black being ground and red being live, so I guess green wire on yours is live 🤷♂️
@@whatsdavedone104 I have got a black/red wire which you connected with the white cable, same as you in the video, but also a black/green wire... With canbus I mean that golden thing with 50 W 6RJ on it, if that's called resistor, than yes that's what I mean.
@frankpfaff3256 the "canbus" is a resistor. One end plugs into factory harness, other end into the fogs. It has a resistor because the new fogs are LED not halogen, it stops a bulb out warning on the dash 👍

Hi pal just a quick question. It says plug+play on the description on the website, but i know you did all the wiring etc? Is that just cos you were wanting them to operate different than would normally happen with them?
The fog light section in centre are plug and play, plug straight into original fog light plug. The led ring round out side need connecting to a ground and a 12v, the 12v I chose was glove box as I want the light to come on when unlocking the car, alternatively I could have wired to an ignition live fuse (fuse 4) and they would have come in with ignition
Hi there Dave brilliant video I've got to say I've just got 1 question, I have a 2009 golf mk6 tdi but stock they come without fog light, is it still possible to get them fitted and working?
You can fit these to golfs that don't have factory fogs yes.....2 option just run the drls halo section wired to fuse 4 ignition live....or option 2, you can install an aftermarket foglight harness then you can run the fogs and drls halo. The cheaper option is just install the halos...then you only require grilles and the lights. If you want fogs then you will need harness, grills, new switch with fog function. ua-cam.com/video/KQM04bvPNrI/v-deo.htmlsi=_ADNYI3se4H83QSc
Hey man, love the lights and installed it on my golf after seeing this. Only issue is that I'm having bad battery drain issues since then. Do you know what could cause this?
@whatsdavedone104 to the glove box like you have as getting to the firewall is a pain😅. Other electronics I have previously added are a android head unit, wireless charging pad, charging USB's and various LED's, the only one I know to have power without the ignition being live is the head unit.
@bobmarley8000 your headunit will be the issue....remove the headunit and look at the harness, you should see a small black connector plug with orange and red wires running through it....disconnect the plug and the unit will turn on and off with ignition. The connector isn't needed when running a canbus box on the unit
I disconnected my glove box switch so the light is on when car is unlocked....if you don't want to disturb the glove box light you can go to fuse 13 under the bonnet. Fuse 13 is ignition live so light will come on with ignition, after turning ignition off they will stay on for 20 seconds then turn off.
Never seen wiring run around the firewall like that. Interesting idea. I assume there is a grommet somewhere on the firewall we could run a wire through?? I have my fogs setup (obd11) at 50% dimmed as DRL's but these do look better. I think there's some issue using LEDS in the fogs for DRL's only certain dimming levels will work.
Why can't you wire them into the auto switch? I fitted an auto switch to my 09 mk6 and the lights come on when unlocking and for about 5s after locking. My car doesn't have fogs as standard.
You can try going to auto switch, I haven't gone to auto switch for 2 reasons, 1 I have led drl lights and if I leave in auto position when starting the engine I get bulb error on dash and 2 auto lights won't come on if it's light, they only come on in the dark.
I've been having a few bugs with my computer flashing up a bulb error and then the error disappears again.. but the only change I've mad to the car was the auto switch itself
Sounds like one of your bulbs it's on its way out. A scan with a code reader will tell you which bulb is at fault, my guess will be a number plate bulb 🤷 carista is a good scan tool and tells you which bulbs are at fault

Any images with the fog lights on? How is the light output?
The light output is far better than factory fogs lights. Can't share pictures on UA-cam comments Unfortunately 🤷♂️
For that led drl strip, did you use some canbus adapter or some resistor, and where did you wire them up, on headlight plug or inside of headlight ?

Hi, Dave could possibly the halos be wired so that you may turn them off whenever you want? My Golf 6 2011 came with a factory-installed euro switch.
You could add an aftermarket switch in to the wiring or wire direct to your drl wiring.

Yes I could have gone through the fire wall but that involves removing the battery and lifting the carpet. This way is quicker and simpler 😝
Also hello again. Is there anyway I can have the halo lights on with the headlights?
To have three halo come on with headlights you would need to splice the power wire at pin 6 on back of headlights, pin 6 is dipped beam.
