- Russian forces have launched a military assault on neighbouring Ukraine, crossing its borders and bombing military targets near big cities.
A missile sparked a fireball as it hit Ivano-Frankivsk International Airport in western Ukraine.
Russia's military breached the border in a number of places, in the north, south and east, including from Belarus, a long-time Russian ally. There are reports of fighting in some parts of eastern Ukraine.

When Russia said in 2014 "Those are not our troops in Crimea" - we knew they were Russian troops.
When Russia said "Our country is big enough, we have no desire to annex any more territory" - we knew Russia's annexation of Crimea was imminent (it happened just 48 hours later).
When Russia stated 16 times in the last month that "we are *not* going to invade Ukraine" - that's how we knew an invasion was imminent.
Now Russia says "We do not intend to occupy Ukraine" - that's how we know they mean to occupy the Ukraine.

There is still time for Ukrainians to surrender, they are not from a warrior race like Afghans, who can fight for 20-40 years non-stop. In this case its the same culture and religion too, so even less incentive and motivation to resist. The sooner they surrender, the better is the chance to strike a deal with Moscow which will give them some level of autonomy...
