I saw him live once and he was late for the gig. By quite a lot of time. But as soon as he started to sing I was mesmerised. He was wearing an old check shirt and a knitted beanie. Still mesmerised ! 🥰
Shoutout to all the Savage Garden fans on this page! I used to feel like the only Savage Garden fan until I came here!! Woohoo! Awesome band! Love them and you too Jay! ❤
This is also a good song from a parent to a kid. I heard this after I had my son and tears were streaming down my face because is couldn’t have been anymore true. I definitely knew I loved him before I met him.
I used to sing this song to my special needs niece after she was born as I became an Aunty before being blessed as a Mother 💜 she passed 2 years ago due to health problems 😢 when I hear this song I always think of her 💔
So pleased for you to have a healthy Neice now. Wishing you all well. I waited a long time for my Son and always sang this to him as a little one. He's a wonderful 18yr old now. I must play this song to him x
I'm split on the song. I think it's good, but man. Back when the song was in it's prime and I was being dragged to weddings (since I was a kid), this song was ALWAYS picked for the bride-groom dance. By like the 3rd or 4th wedding, I wanted to yell at the bride and groom and even DJ to pick something else to dance to. Plus yell at the bride and groom for trying to tell everyone that it was "their" song. How can I see it as "their" song, when I know a couple other married couples that consider it their song? The less I know, the better. I know one couple can't claim it and stuff, but if another couple comes along that I don't personally know and didn't go to their wedding, I can believe it. But this song is one of those that I would like to add to the list of songs that should banned from a wedding reception. IF I can ever get married (I have to find a girl first that finds me attractive, which I'm 0-1000 on), I can guarantee this song will be banned from the wedding reception. Or at least wait until later in the night for it to finally be played. At least I don't hear it as much now at weddings. It's prime days are over with, so maybe I won't exactly ban it. Actually, wedding receptions are no longer romantic and stuff or about love. The last couple weddings I went to, everyone was sick of the romantic/slow nonsense at receptions and just wanted party music. They were even demanding to dance to anti-love songs. The only romantic/slow song I hear at weddings now is whatever the song is that the bride and groom pick to dance to. It's all about dancing and drinking as much alcohol as they can. This might explain why divorce rates are so high nowadays. Nobody cares that two people found love. It's all about partying and a reason to drink alcohol. Plus maybe see friends and family.
This song was actually dedicated to his unborn daughter. That's why he says I knew I loved you before I met you. Knowing that, the song and lyrics makes much more sense.
@@PixelatedH2O I both of them too, haven't listened to them in a while but I knew I loved you is always on a playlist; a shame they only did two albums together
I love Savage Garden, this is my favorite song. I was truly hurt when they split. We actually played this at my daughter's wedding during the processional with a list of R&B songs. Also my daughter's favorite Savage Garden song.
Given they had only 2 albums - it isn’t treat surprising. The two he has reacted to were the biggest international hits but their other songs are more interesting
Oh, yes. :) Goodnight Girl extended version recorded at their Royal Albert Hall concert shows how great they were live. (and do not forget their jazzy/blues songs... 'Maybe I'm in love' was their original bigband song a decade later...)
In 2002, before it was not a strange thing, I went into an AOL chatroom after meeting a Welshman on holiday and losing his email address. I typed in 'are there any funny Welshmen in here?' and a different Welshman replied 'I'm funny looking, does that count?' We struck up a friendship. He came to visit me in California 3 times and I visited him in Wales before we decided to marry. 19 years later we are still laughing and enjoying our lives. This was the song played for our first dance at our wedding reception. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
No lie I didn’t like this band as a kid in the 90’s because my step mom played this album on repeat but now I respect the talent. Funny how things change.

Listen to “to the moon and back” & “I want you” & “crash and burn” next ... these are more upbeat and their best songs even better than the 2 you reacted to already!
I did an interview and I asked Darren what song he was most proud of writing. He said "Two beds and a coffee machine" I agree, it's a great song and tells a very emotional story of domestic abuse "‘It’s a song about how I grew up. To the Moon and Back is by far their best song but this one still get the girls all cuddly.
Same for me...like a few of their other songs quite a bit, including this one, but To The Moon And Back is just soooo good.
Its so good!
My favorite from them
Yes, "To the Moon and Back" was definitely the better song.
This song is still popular to this day.
Darren Hayes was classically trained. His voice is astounding. I saw them live in their home town when I was in highschool. Amazing
