Here's little tip for scratch free removal, try to use a bit of insulation tape around your cold knife blade. I would also say keep the open primer away from the customers car😉. Good job anyway.

when your applying the urethane start on the bottom then cut it off at the bottom corner then start again from the top and then reconnect the urethane at the bottom corner with the urethane going on the inside or else water might leak in if you continue starting at the top and connecting the urethane at the bottom corner starting at the top and finishing at the bottom end causes the joints where the urethane meets to go against the direction water will flow naturally during rain fall

what about that registration sticker on the old windshield? Did you remove it and put in on the new one?

Most people who replace windshield do not use an assist. Like you place the farther side on it and place your side till it sits properly.

Nice job...you did it the correct way by removing everything cowl panel
And wipers...and anything else that needed to be removed...I was trained by other people at one time
Who would not remove wipers or cowl panels and wanted to short cut
Method done...which I refused to do
And got judged for it...but then I was sent to the FORD CARLITE school and was trained by LEN STOLK AND
AL GERRARD...WHO I CAN'T THANK ENOUGH..and learned the correct way to replace glass...I become one of the top installers in INDPLS...and was always requested by dealers and body shops to come in and do all their glass work...again great video..because remember the windshield is part of the strutual
Integrity of the vehicle and a safety
Restraint for your safety and the airbags....

The general public doesn’t understand how important the installation of your windshield is. It’s critical that the bonding of the glass to the pinchweld is strong. He is right. Many installers will “ stuff “ the windshield , meaning that the cowl is left on. A definite no no. I was always taught that the windshield holds 70 % of the structural integrity of the vehicle in the event of a roll over. A faulty installation could mean someone getting injured or killed, and the installer could be held responsible. By not cutting corners and not skipping steps, and installer can ensure safety for the driver, and longevity to the vehicles pinchweld and surrounding area. Nice job ..

Didn't see him index the wipers for exact replacement, didnt taped off paint around windshield, scratches are not ok, hood should never be used for a shelf things get knocked over,, slide, role, no fender covers, work apron scratches the crap out of paint, standing on sill plates without protection. Other than that.

this is not prof job at all.. how about using kevlar string like it is done in Europe which easier, faster and no damage to paint.

+ according to many service manuals you need to apply glue to the glass first, not to the pinchwelded frame

  • @YamahaDan100
    @YamahaDan100 4 роки тому +1

Never step on the door trims to reach certain part of the windscreen.
Gravel or dirt in your shoe would scratch this.
If you are scratching the paint even 1 out of 20 vehicles you need to be using an alternate cut out method. Ie wire tool. The customer will see the primer covering the scratch even after the new screen goes in, its too high and the trim won't completely hide it.
There is no need to place any items on a car bonnet even with mat. The mat will scratch the lacquer especially on show cars that are flawless.
