  • Highway Dragnet 1954 film noir. Richard Conte, Joan Bennett, star in this full length film noir crime drama movie. A recently discharged Marine sergeant visiting an old friend in Los Angeles gets framed for the murder of a fading fashion model. One of my favorite Richard Conte movies, though the entire cast does a good job, the final scene with the Salton Sea as the backdrop was unique for a 1950s film noir movie. - Broken Trout - Broken Trout Movies

I feel Richard Conte is an incredibly underated actor. He is an actor that has probably appeared in more noir movies than anyone else. When they stopped making these type of movies his career seemed over. Apart from oceans 11 and of course the godfather he rarely appeared in any movies which is a shame.

Once again, a thoroughly engaging *_'Oldie But Goody'...._* that I've enjoyed so many times over the years.👌
A well-scripted little tale full of "gotcha" moments, with Richard Conte in CLASSIC form; Joan Bennett in a somewhat unique character role; and Wanda Hendrix with *_definitely a "20 inch waist"_* !!! 😍
The only "goof" was Las Vegas police receiving a call from the Inn on the California side of the state line, and telling the Inn manager, _"Thanks..... I'll be there in 15 minutes"_ !!! 🤣

This is the greatest film noir it was so good I watched it twice in one day yesterday. Richard Conte is the king of film noir. Clever story & plot with many unexpected surprises.
A bit far fetched & improbable but entertaining.
I like how he turned the tables on the police & escaped in a patrol car & then stopped to help the 2 women fix their car.
And when the car broke down they get into a station wagon & he crashes thru roadblocks & 2 motorcycles & the car is a total wreck & still running in the desert. Thanks for uploading this movie.

Yeah, it is a noir. I'm convinced moderns do not get what NOIR really means - it ain't about lighting. Directed by Nathan Juran from a story by U.S. Andersen and Roger Corman (*yep). The first feature film on which Roger Corman worked as an associate producer. Corman based the yarn on a trip he took to the Salton Sea. "I saw all these old houses that were deserted. The first floors were flooded, and I thought it would be a great climax to a picture - some sort of chase across the desert and a shoot-out in the flooded house. So, I started with the climax of the film and worked back to create my story." Love that.

The area of the last scene, the Salton Sea, could supply all of the United States lithium needs if it is properly mined.

Marlon Brando was, GAY!! He had male, lover's. Now here's where "THE GODFATHER" fans get all bent, out of shape! "Ohh, he wasn't gay, how dare you"? But actually, he WAS. Remember Wally Cox? He was the voice of "Underdog", and had his own TV show, "Mr. Peeper's". Was in a Twilight Zone episode, and a handful of films. And that's just one, guy…………

I've watched a lot of these movies from the 40s and the 50s, and in almost all of them people are just so rude to each other. I thought people today are rude, but it seems like back then they were worse.

Film noir is filled with actors who play tough, gritty characters. That is what film noir means...the wise guys and their dames.
Films don't necessarily reflect real life.
