In this video, Australian angler Che Carson demonstrates the correct method of how to tie a GT Knot. This strong joining knot is used for connecting braided mainline to mono or fluorocarbon leader and is ideal for casting. This is my new knot, but I attach it to a spider hitch. 100lb braid to 80lb flouro. I reeled in fire trucks all last weekend with no problem whatsoever!
Great knot - this is the true GT Knot not as seen in those other videos.
I've had personal experience fishing with this, there was no slipping. Tied the other knot as seen in viral videos knot slipped (curled ends).
At first I couldn't understand how a supposedly super strong knot failed then realised those knots were completely incorrect.

That's the right way to tie a gt knot. All the other demonstrations on UA-cam are wrong

where do ou get this is the GT know? the GT know was a simple figure 8 on the mono and a uni know on the braid. thisw is not close to what is show. what is your reference?

This is only half the knot, they didnt show how to tie the bimini which is also part of the whole thing lol. by the time you got the new GT after your line broke, the boat is already docking :)

Does not look anything like other "GT" knots. Maybe it's an "AGT" knot standing for "Australia's Got Talent", or maybe just call it the "AG knot." Looks nice, but needs to be put to a pull test. In any event, the proper figure 8 knot is 2x wraps before going through to create the "8". Then lead line goes up the hole following the tag and then down the other hole. Maybe it makes no difference, or one is better than the other, but needs to be put to a test.

The knot may be good. But that video is awful! The constant change of background behind the line makes it a real nightmare to try to figure out the whole thing. Even worst because one of the lines is clear and transparent! Next time, do it over a black mat and shoot from vertical. We don't care about the guy, his furniture, plants, etc...
