Now that you pointed it out I can see the deer. I also understand why I didn't notice them earlier...I was distracted by the worker bee. Shifting gears I want to thank you for your videos. Always entertaining and informative. I can only imagine the time it takes you to edit and I want to say THANK YOU! They are appreciated and enjoyed.
I have a 55 hp tractor with a 84" snow plow with wings so it can become a pusher. Over the many years where I have been maintaining the roads in my neighborhood, which are both paved and gravel, my favorite combination is snow plow in front and box scraper in back. The box scraper serves many functions, not only as a pusher but as an icebreaker. If you have to deal with ice there are times where the plow just doesn't break through, where the box scraper does. On the gravel roads the box scraper shines, I don't mind driving backwards for the first pass then I widen it with the plow. Driveways are a breeze, I just backup to the garage door drop the box and the plow, then pull forward enough say 10-15 feet raise the box and plow, back up again and pickup the droppings from the box and off I go and finish up the driveway.
That was hilarious! I really liked when you whispered "talk louder" and your lips didn't even move but the microphone picked it up. You are a man of many talents. Great video.
Mike, we live in WI and probably have about the same snow as you have in PA. After years of pushing and plowing snow, I found the the only solution for me was a snowblower on my 3pt. hitch. The main reason was with a pusher or plow you have to push the snow somewhere, which can be a problem later as your road and other areas start to "tunnel" and fill in. Then you have to move frozen snow with your bucket, a big time challenging job. With the blower the snow is virtually gone. The only challenge is you are driving backwards, which is not a problem if you go slow and easy. You will find the blower is not that much more in cost that the pusher or blade. Maybe test a blower also. Just my two cents worth after many years of moving snow. Bob
I have NEVER seen a place with as much outdoor staircases as the Morgans!!!!!! :) (I guess if Mike has his 'hand rubbing'; Melissa can have her stairwells that pop up anywhere / anytime.) Happy Birthday!
Getting ready for Tom Messups forcast of 1inch to 20inches of snow this weekend! Have a Deere X585 with cab and front blade/snowblower and a DR Field and Brush mower with front snowblower. Upstate NY Snowblowers work the best along with a front blade, my dream tractor is a Kubota GL60 with a front snowblower/blade. Im surprised you didnt get a blade big enough for the RK55?
I installed a 72" quick disconnect snow plow on my Kubota. I also installed a thick rubber cutting edge so as to not scratch my "Golden Calf", as my wife calls my tarred driveway. I love it!
Hey Mike - thanks for the discussion on pros/cons of snow pusher vs. snow plow. How about a similar talk about snow pusher vs. bucket to push the snow on a subcompact tractor?
Mike, for the embankments on either side of a driveway, unless it is tall or steep for a long distance, I would choose a snowblower. Snow is gone, no berm to work around. I might also suggest a plow mounted to tractor sub-frame rather than loader if doing a lot of plowing. Less risk to loader arms and framework.
I'd say you are correct about the blade and snow pusher for the different applications . I prefer the snow pusher . That way you can get rid of the piles and push them back . Not only that if you had a blade on top you can back drag the snow away from a garage door or building . A good blade on the back so you can groom the gravel driveway when needed is good .Now if you live in an area that gets tons of snow like Northern Ont than I prefer a snow blower on the front and a blade on the back for a driveway . Now if you are short on money and who isn't these days than the snow pusher is good because they cost a lot less than a snowblower . Happy up coming Birthday Melissa . Gee I wish that I looked that good when I was 29. Didn't see any deer in the first video . Was too busy looking at the young lady . LOL
Good Times! Love the deer in the videos. When I'm out in the in my woods with the tractor the deer are rarely spooked and don't run off very far at all!
I agree with your pusher vs plow assessment. I am a firm believer that whatever you put on your machine, it should be at least 2 feet wider than your machine. We live in central Maine, the land of snow with an 850 foot driveway raised with drainage ditches on each side. I run an 8 foot blade on my Kubota L series. The 8 foot width does not dump the cast off directly under your wheels. This also allows me to stay up on the driveway while winging the banks back from the edge. Probably the most important plowing equipment for us is aggressive, heavy duty tire chains with ice studs.... not something you want to run on paved surfaces. I did snow removal for several years at large, commercial lots with a Michigan loader and a pusher. I really enjoy your videos.... we are kindred spirits !
Happy birthday Melissa! I honestly don't see you in a Range Rover. How about a nice all black Jeep Grand Cherokee with black wheels? Now that suits you. I'm sure Mike understands that you are more than worth that small token of his love. Go ahead Mike head down to the Jeep dealership today! Wishing you both the best!
I’ve owned them all and like what each offer. I now run an HLA snow wing 4203 on my Fendt 516 front lifting arms (loader removed) which is my smallest tractor. I know you said subcompact tractor which mine isn’t, but if someone offers a plow like mine with hydraulic wings, that’s the best of both worlds. I’d say for a compact, I’d chose the snow pusher. I don’t own a tractor in your class except for early 70’s Ford 2600, 4100 and 8700 but those were my fathers. I don’t use them anymore.
Plow for long road and pusher for yard. I just sold my V plow for pickup... Using skid steer with regular snow/dirt bucket. I had to have been 2nd for the mingo marker!?
0-50 in seems reasonable ha ha ha happy birthday Melissa and congrats on the new toys Mike I'm still using a bucket to remove snow ha ha ha guess ill just have to live vicariously through you
I purchased the RK 55 hydro in August along with the grapple and 72 EA snow plow so far so good love my new Machine. The real test will be Sat were getting 12 to 15, I enjoy your videos nice job
after your plowing and pushing is done. can you ask RK about a front mounted snow blower! My wife and I drove 4 hours to Dothan to look at the RK line. The 37 cab Hydro will fit our soon to be new life perfectly. Were moving to the upper peninsula of Michigan, our driveway is a short 1/2 mile long with not much space to push the snow. Blowing it is our only hope. I can't find anything about a front mount snow blower for an RK. Thanks.
Great way to deal with snow - as a kid in Beaver County, it seemed that almost everyone broke their necks plowing snow with their 8-N's; thank you for awesome videos !
Happy Birthday Melissa, and I agree with you about plows and pushers . I had a brizzard 8-10 and I loved it ,there a heavy plow and they stay on the ground. I always used the wings, I have an older western now ,it’s ok for what I do. I have 1/2 mile private road and a 200 foot driveway. Between my l3901and my dodge and my neighbors we get the job done ( Love what you do keep it up)
MIKE! , good description for the use of each implement ,with this forcast this weekend, looks like yinzer gonna get 4 to 8". I fabricated my 7 foot meyers snow plow with a quick attach plate to fit my RK 37. Guessing this weekend will be its " maiden voyage "! Happy Pushing and Plowing? !! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELLISA
Would you tell what video and the time in the video. I can’t find them either but I do see the deer when you pointed them out? Could they have been omitted on the you tube posts? Has me wondering how I am missing them?
Yep; same accurate forecast here in Orange County, NY; 0" to 50"; they will narrow that forecast after the storm winds up on Monday; that'll sell a lot of shovels, salt, bread and milk!!!
Curious, are you currently receiving mineral rights from a gas well on your property? I work in the industry and am proud of it! Western Pa is loaded with nat gas
Happy birthday Melissa. We here in lower Michigan are looking at "the forcast" 3-5" of snow. This will be a good test for you to test them on. Great video 👌 and keep them coming 👍.
Should be some good additions my driveway is 500 ft then another 1500ft of road to another section I’ve got a plow on mine love using it more than my 70000 dollar 3/4 tone pick up see ya Napa mike

Please make a video of all this snow they say y'all going to get. With living in Marlboro County SC there is very little snow here. Wish we could get some this year as well. Nice buck. Have a great day and be safe
When you change to the plow, please also show details on how to remove scooper ....would be interested to see ease or not ease of removing/attaching equipment on RK tractor, thank you.
Hey Melissa , looooooking good in that Stocking cap. I was in Colorado last week and they had -10* the week prior. When I was there they had high winds 85mph in the rocky flats.
Mike what size mold boards are the pusher and plow? and does the plow have (1) or (2) angle pistons? Im curious because I picked up a used hla 1500 6ft pusher for my compact tractor Kicti ck4010, never used it but I wasn't ultimately happy with the height of the mold board or sides (around 20") with box wings that go out approx. 15" in the front, I ended up buying a new 6ft tarter pusher the mold board and sides are 34" in height, plus the sides go out approx. 30" Like you im forecasted to get anywhere from 8" to 20" on Sat / Sun, looking forward to playing with the new toys.
Big snow about time I herd 8-12 your way and for me south of you 5-8 For me I would like to see 24 inch snow fall And I hope you have a grate Birthday young lady
