the limitation of base PS5 is pretty much two choice, 4k and 30 fps or 2k and 60 fps. NOW PS5 can do both at the same time. The difference is best seen in person. UA-cam video does not show 70-100 fps (only work on TV that's capable) and also you just can't see that 2k=>4K boost without looking on a 60in 4K TV.

I have been using the ps5 pro with my Lg c1 oled. The difference is astonishing. The extra price could already almost be justified just with the extra storage. So the performance upgrade is almost free. If you want a ps5 with 2tb ssd storage, it would basically cost you the same as the pro. According to me it is absolutely worth it.
I think most of the time , the PSSR issues are because the devs do not utilize it as they need to. Proof to that is that there are many games where PSSR is doing magic like Hogwarts Legacy, Callisto Protocol, Stellar blade and almost all of Sony first party games. Tip of the day: Creating videos on PS5 in 4K is still possible on base PS5. You just have to manually set Rec before doing your stuff. I can add a game that changed drastically with the PRO and that is Hogwarts. It is now completely playable in Fidelity with raytracing mode. My personal opinion is that Stellar Blade and Demons Souls shows the PS5 Pro upgrade the best. I am very very satisfied with the upgrade to PS5 Pro.
Same position here, I don't see the value of the Pro if next Gen is like 3/4 years away still, if not sooner. Had a PS4 slim since 2018, and only bought a used PS4 pro last year for mostly to tinker with. not sure I'll do the same with the PS5 pro, really depends on home brew and what not. And don't want to jailbreak current gen until its last gen.
@@MadShadow_ Are we really expecting games to look different without effort from game studios to use the new hardware? The same issue with the Pro will apply to the 6. Most games will likely target PS5 and will look the same as they do on the Pro.
@@mmstick Nah not really we are visually graphically, stuck at a ceiling atm. Since the PS3 era or at least the end of it. And the PS6 will hopefully be backwards compatible still. So I'd rather invest in next gen then a mid gen refresh. Sorry but if you have to look for visual enhancement with a looking glass . While immersive playing won't even spend a split second paying attention to it. The only benefit the Pro has right now is higher FPS, and I do my multiplayer stuff on PC. So there isn't really a big incentive for me to go for the Pro.
So far I love this system it is incredible to finally actually play games in 4k 60 or higher on a console...Games like Stellar Blade, Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Ratchet & Clank, and both of The Last of Us games look insane.
Good review of the pro here, I actually did buy one and enjoy it and actually do find that games look both cleaner and smoother with it than the base model. Yes, it is expensive, but I think what a lot of people didn’t cover in their reporting of it, is that you don’t need two PS5’s so yes, you can sell your existing base model PS5 to offset the cost of the pro. It also comes with 2TB SSD so if you didn’t already buy an M.2 SSD expansion, this would have you covered on that end as well. Definitely is a niche product but I think the value proposition is often overlooked if you take these two factors into account on top of the improved performance
I bought my first oled this Black Friday and currently playing RE8 on the pro and I’m absolutely blown away. Runs at 120 fps, never seen anything like this before. To me personally since I didn’t have an oled before, this jump feels like the Xbox to the Xbox 360. That’s the last time I remember being blown away by graphics.
@briquesbts there’s no air vents on the floor of the console so no it won’t have issues. The stand is just an add-on to keep it sturdy. Mine’s well ventilated and never gets touched
I got the og base console ps5 and for me still looks good no difference I enjoy it very much appreciate the fact that Sony still graces us with good consoles. Good video 👍
I moved over to the PC ecosystem since the cadence of game releases to technology upgrades no longer hold the same excitement like the shift from PS2 to PS3. If consoles aren't going to offer true stability and I end up waiting a year for games to get patch support anyways I've just changed my consumption habits. With all the remakes and endless last gen support I'm gonna focus on the backlog. Excited to see what PS6 looks like but I'm afraid gaming has shifted in a major way based on how much time and money it takes to make them nowadays. Wish we could go back to stylized graphics and a quicker release cadence. Thanks Mystic for your great coverage as always!!
I feel like shelling out for the PS5 Pro now will make upgrading to a PS6 a lot less special. The diminishing returns we are getting with each gen means that this Pro launch just cannibalized most of the new tech and features that might've gone into a PS6. And rather than getting fully baked, developer buy in on all the new games, it is these weird patches that may or may not make games look or run worse. At this point I am happy waiting for the PS6 while people with the PS5 Pro are paying a high premium to beta test the features I will enjoy in a finished state on the next console.
@@Oscar-sz7sp Yeah, I think so. I've played nearly all the PS5 exclusives so far. I don't really replay games, so any benefits to the existing games don't do anything for me. Unless quite a few games come out in the next few years with enough of an increase in overall experience to justify the purchase I think I am good to wait.
Well being cdn- I got the ps5 4 years ago, so it’s the original. Sold it for $400 cdn and upgraded the ps5 pro for $600 cdn …. So it was worth it for me
I bought it at launch and am happy with the games I've been playing on it but I fully understand those who are playing AW2, Jedi survivor, Outlaws and SH2 etc will be disappointed so far, games should definately not be looking worse on the premium console so that needs fixing ASAP. I'm fully confident as PSSR gets updated we will have a great console next year.
I bought the Pro because I was tired of sharing the base model with my bro. Haven't tested it out fully yet because of work and its college football season (gotta watch my games) but from the few games Ive played so far I like it.
I'd love to own a pro but I'm perfectly happy with my core PS5. I'm sorry but for $700 plus cost for disc drive and stand, we should be getting 120 FPS at at least 1080 but it should be 4k.
Nice review and rundown, it should help people decide whether to spend the substantial amount they are asking for the PS5 Pro. When you add the stand and disc-drive and perhaps a 1TB SSD upgrade as well as another controller into the overall cost it's a large amount of money. I am happy with my PS5 Slim which I got for a good price with a PS4 trade-in. Thankfully I have a nice Hisense TV that can take full advantage of the console. We had massive availability issues in Australia after the initial release of the PS5 so I was a couple of years late to the PS5 party. The 30th anniversary theme looks fantastic on my screen, with the release of the PS5 Pro a nice touch to complement the celebration. Admittedly a 1TB SSD upgrade is on the cards for my console with the SSD prices very reasonable these days. This guy's tips on how to setup the PS5 have been beneficial with a few tweaks to my console done after watching his videos. 😎🇦🇺👍
There’s no way Sony is getting many sales for these. I walk in to my local Walmart and target almost every week and see them fully stocked while the regular PlayStation 5 is normally almost gone.
PSSR will get better over time, its still pretty new.... the pro games look great on an OLED with 120 and VRR.. its hard to tell when watching youtubers copmare the two when watching on a 1080p screen tho.
The struggle you were going through to make a good point in favor of Sony, really gave me everything I needed from this review. Thank you!!! Not encouraging crappy and anti-consumer practices from Sony.
FarCry 3 classic edition on my PS4 was at 720p and it looked rather pixelated so I tried it on my Pro in boost mode to see what if any difference there was. The result was impressive, it looks like 4k now and plays beautifully….like a modern day game should look! So now I’ve got to try some of my older PS4 stuff to see if I can get the same uplift.
I've had the base ps5 on launch. Recently had to tear the whole thing down to clean for the first time. But my gf got me a pro for Christmas. Right off the bat I love the 2TB ssd storage. I noticed a difference my first match on bo6. My eyes adjusted and it's very smooth frames. Have yet to play a few enhanced games in my library. Excited! Again I feel like it's worth it for ppl like me. I have lg c3 65 inch and have never expanded my ssd, along with quite a few enhanced games I don't need to pay for 💯. This was a great upgrade for me.
I bought the ps5 pro. I really noticed the difference. I do have a lg 120 hertz tv. I think if you have a led or 60 hertz television. Might not notice the difference as much. I am very happy with the purchase. Not only the ps5 games look better but the ps4 are better as well.
damn, when i started my ps5 pro today i thought im hearing wrong when the ps1 startup sound played. that was absolutely amazing, but then i read it is for a limited time only. WHY? that should stay as an option forever.
The PS4 game upscale is a total scam. Why not have something like fps boost when even a $300 xbox can quadruple the framerate instead of only adding a couple of pixels?!
I thought I was in a minority to prefer native over upscaling but it turns out I'm not. Gamers Nexus did a poll. The problem with upscaling is it does a good job when you look at it when things are not moving. But quality drops dramatically when things are moving. That is my observation with DLSS. My eyes can get used to whatever graphics. But when it changes is when I notice it and that bothers me, because "quality is relative". In the poll 68% chose the option "Decrease the graphics quality settings and run native resolution", over the 32% chose "Keep the graphics quality settings, but add upscaling".
I'm primarily a PSVR2 User. So I will wait what the future Patches will bring. Native 90 Frames for Metro, RE4, RE8, Into the Radius (with Graphics Mode) and the upcoming Hitman Update and I would consider it. But probably will wait for PS6 at that point.
With some with an 85 in tv in his room, playing blood borne on the ps5 pro actually looks like a remaster. It’s still a locked 30 fps, but the game looks phenomenal and it’s addicting. I put 20 hours this holiday weekend on a new game lmaoo
For those of us who don't get to play every game as they come out could you consider adding a title in the corner to identify each game in your b-roll footage? I often see games that look interesting but have to jump through hoops just to figure out what they are.
really enjoying the ps5 pro, it will only get better as it gets more time and games added. PSSR is a new tech, DLSS wasnt what it is today out of the gates either. The only complaint is availability of a physical disc drive as scalpers have ruined that market, and physical games had better sales than the digital but i didnt buy any bc i dont have a disc drive or anyone else around me.
My only gripe is that developers took the extra head room reserved to increase framerate and just ramped resolution again so we just get another 54fps performance mode, but in 4k. LOCKED 60 or nothing Sony. Not hard.
I've been saying since the start that unlocked framerates and VRR should have been made mandatory for every game release this generation. Not only would we have seen the benefits of this on the base Ps5, but it would have helped sell the pro model as well. Also atrocious that Sony hasn't implemented low framerate compensation yet either. Very happy I chose the PC route over Sony's ecosystem.
You kill me with this whole “sticker shock” price. Dude, it was announced and I pre ordered two. Lol. But I’m also the guy who paid $600 for his PS3. If you love PlayStation, you don’t really think twice when new hardware is announced. I didn’t at least lol. 💯
it simple if you want the pro look into the main differences there a few compare to base ps5 & you have options sell things you own or get on finance I see a phone shop doing a 2 year plan & 250.00 ps store credit with the ps5 pro
I would have initially thought that PSVR2 games would be enhanced by the GPU alone. If you lived in Texas, I'd offer ya assistance in seeing the difference between the PS5 and the Pro
Too bad the disc drives are impossible to get because of the annoying scalpers. I don't have a PS5 yet but I'm leaning more towards just getting the slim with disc drive, the cost of the pro plus hunting down the disc drive for regular retail price just doesn't sound worth it to me.
Im hoping for the disc drives to come back in stock; or, for Sony to realize they f'ed up, release PS5 Pro with a disc drive and priced at $700, and price drop the disc-less Pro to $650.
@dapperfan44 Yeah I agree, they should have been producing more drives in preparation for the launch of the pro. I also feel like for $700 Sony really should have just included the drive, I have a hard time justifying a extra $300 over the slim when that extra $300 can get me a nice stack of physical games during sales.
I played gt7 with my pro today. I noticed a MASSIVE difference with my previous OG FAT PS5…….. The difference is that the PS5 PRO makes more fan noise than the OG PS5. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh and picture quality? Honestly? I can’t really see a difference. Anyway… yeah I regret the purchase. 🎉
I will buy the ps5 pro ONLY for gta 6 if it run at 60 fps and the normal ps5 no. I know a lot of people said that gta 6 is gonna be 30 fps on both console cuz of the CPU. But I don't know MAYBE with pssr ps5 pro is gonna have 60 fps for gta 6 ?
Every single game will not see improvements .. some old, some new may or may not....ps5pro is really for the future games to look spectacular...the old games are just the cherry on top
I love playstaion but I wish it could be more user friendly for the little things like connecting airpods, wireless keyboard, etc. I have to use specific bluetooth device just to connect the airpods, ended up using ps app instead. Also need to specifically look for particular keyboard that support. All these little issue leads me to upgrading PC last two months and never bother getting the Pro.
It’s difficult noticing the difference in a youtube video on your phone or tablet. I got the pro. You need to experience it yourself to notice the gameplay difference
The thing about the base #PlayStation5 and the #PlayStation5Pro is that most comparison videos are showing the base model using fidelity mode and the PS5 Pro is just a smidge better graphically but what people need to do is show the game in performance mode on base PS5 and compare it to the PS5 Pro because PS5 Pro is both fidelity and performance together. Also the SSD is more than twice the size over the #PlayStation5Slim and it has more C-ports and a better wifi adapter. I did a test before I got my PS5 Pro and downloaded Spider-man 2 at 3:00am so the internet traffic would be not so busy and it took 52 minutes to download and it took the PS5 Pro 32 minutes at when I started the download in the afternoon on a Saturday which should have made it a busier and slower download.
if we are going to use the inflation argument then trade in values should be adjusted for inflation as well. RIGHT NOW if i was to trade in 2 ps5's i wouldnt come close to being able to pay for a ps5 pro. THAT is how u know its a major price gouge
People need to relax instead of telling others how to (not) spend their money. In 2020-2021 people were spending 700+ bucks on the base PS5 and now somehow it's a big deal and everyone is talking about it.
Given that Microsoft inherited it through buyout, I don't think they'll be jumping at the chance to make their biggest seller look better on a competing platform.
the valueof the console will only be proven with time based on how many games get patched and support its new features properly (for upcoming games) and how good pssr performs across the board
$800 vs $500 for something you can barely tell the difference 😅. Even worse whenever the PS5 Pro uses PSSR a lot of games look worse than the regular PS5...it really needs to be called "PiSSeR mode" cause thats what its really doing 😂 Good thing I didnt buy in to the hype...keeping my PS5 still 😊
@@Apocalyptic_Sentinel Replying to you here, too, but yesterday, my cousin in law Facetimed me and my wife with her new Fortnite PS5. When I saw she had the discless one, I told her to take it back for the disc one since it hadn't been opened yet. I also convinced her mom of why she needed to make the trip back to Walmart to exchange it despite that it was already in-hand via online pickup: my CiL needs the disc drive so that she won't be locked to just the PS Store, the disc console is only $50 more, and the alternative is waiting for the $80 disc drive to come back in stock since they are being scalped for $50 more. not sure I'll do the same with the PS5 pro, really depends on home brew and what not. And don't want to jailbreak current gen until its last gen.
the Pro is a mid-gen refresh....why would the PS6 not be a bigger jump..................?
@@MadShadow_ 4 years is a long time away. But yes if you don't see the improvements on games you own, stick to your base PS5.
Happy with base ps5 till ps6

I actually keep my PS5 vertical without the stand, doesn't seem to be an issue unless you're touching it.
It blocks air vents. Your system will get hotter, and it can reduce it's life
@briquesbts there’s no air vents on the floor of the console so no it won’t have issues. The stand is just an add-on to keep it sturdy. Mine’s well ventilated and never gets touched
I got the og base console ps5 and for me still looks good no difference I enjoy it very much appreciate the fact that Sony still graces us with good consoles. Good video 👍
If you are blind, yes.
@@N1ckZnah he’s right base looks better than pro. The pro looks like from Ali express😂
@@iatepacman745 you are just jealous because you can't afford it.
PC is permanent last gen support.
To be fair the remakes have been absolutely fire this gen. Demons souls , resident evil, silent hill, dead space ,!final fantasy 7 etc.
You willing to wait another 4yrs for a PS6?
@@Oscar-sz7sp Yeah, I think so. I've played nearly all the PS5 exclusives so far. I don't really replay games, so any benefits to the existing games don't do anything for me. Unless quite a few games come out in the next few years with enough of an increase in overall experience to justify the purchase I think I am good to wait.
@frozenninja4030 I play tons of games but only once also, so i chose to get a better tv instead of a PS5-pro the best decision.
Congrats 🎉on hitting 800K!
Well being cdn- I got the ps5 4 years ago, so it’s the original. Sold it for $400 cdn and upgraded the ps5 pro for $600 cdn …. So it was worth it for me
I did the same last week. Getting rid of one to replace the other is the way to go
I’m Canadian , lucky to get $400 and everybody selling for 1k+ used for the pro lmao people are dumb
Pro with the portal is a savior for football games lol
I'd love to own a pro but I'm perfectly happy with my core PS5. I'm sorry but for $700 plus cost for disc drive and stand, we should be getting 120 FPS at at least 1080 but it should be 4k.
24/7 i bought mine launch day and i love it
CONGRATS ON 800K !!!!!!🎉
Great video as always
The struggle you were going through to make a good point in favor of Sony, really gave me everything I needed from this review. Thank you!!!
Not encouraging crappy and anti-consumer practices from Sony.
I love it, FF7 and Stellar Blade looks SO much better
0:28 God I freaking hate the glossy plastic they keep insisting on using. Looks so cheap.

3 weeks in I think I’m starting to miss my regular PS5
You don’t buy tech for a promise of what will come in the future.
Tell that to everyone who spent $10k on Tesla’s self driving capability.
No, many do just that
Some of those pro patches are bogus. The Finals is advertised as being “enhanced”, but not a single thing changed
Interesting to hear more info about PS5 Pro.
I just played cyberpunk 2077 on my ps5pro and wow im speechless, it’s enhanced like mofo
FarCry 3 classic edition on my PS4 was at 720p and it looked rather pixelated so I tried it on my Pro in boost mode to see what if any difference there was. The result was impressive, it looks like 4k now and plays beautifully….like a modern day game should look! So now I’ve got to try some of my older PS4 stuff to see if I can get the same uplift.
meanwhile xbox rocking the 360 version at 60 fps 😂
I've had the base ps5 on launch. Recently had to tear the whole thing down to clean for the first time. But my gf got me a pro for Christmas. Right off the bat I love the 2TB ssd storage. I noticed a difference my first match on bo6. My eyes adjusted and it's very smooth frames. Have yet to play a few enhanced games in my library. Excited!
Again I feel like it's worth it for ppl like me. I have lg c3 65 inch and have never expanded my ssd, along with quite a few enhanced games I don't need to pay for 💯. This was a great upgrade for me.
I am 100% with you on this, RE8 looks amazing
@alexi111 one game that i don't own! Hope it's free in the future.
I bought the ps5 pro. I really noticed the difference. I do have a lg 120 hertz tv. I think if you have a led or 60 hertz television. Might not notice the difference as much. I am very happy with the purchase. Not only the ps5 games look better but the ps4 are better as well.
PSVR Without Parole shoutout!
17:17 what does that card do? I’ve never seen it before!
damn, when i started my ps5 pro today i thought im hearing wrong when the ps1 startup sound played. that was absolutely amazing, but then i read it is for a limited time only. WHY? that should stay as an option forever.
You’re absolutely right
The PS4 game upscale is a total scam. Why not have something like fps boost when even a $300 xbox can quadruple the framerate instead of only adding a couple of pixels?!
Even just a 16x anisotropic filtering and ambient occlusion would have been way more preferable than that machine learning upscale shit.
Xbox is a dying breed get used to it
Biggest developer owned by microsoft, yeah they are as good as dead.
to play whtat games on this triple frame boost hahahaha
Space marine 2 goes hard on ps5 pro. They made that game run really well with pssr.
I put 20 hours this holiday weekend on a new game lmaoo
this is a very indecisive video
For those of us who don't get to play every game as they come out could you consider adding a title in the corner to identify each game in your b-roll footage? I often see games that look interesting but have to jump through hoops just to figure out what they are.
Will get the PRO at some point, it's just a thing I will do regardless. Probably wait a big sale or if I can get my hands on a cool collectors edition
those beats in the background, I thought someone was knocking on doors upstairs.
really enjoying the ps5 pro, it will only get better as it gets more time and games added. PSSR is a new tech, DLSS wasnt what it is today out of the gates either. The only complaint is availability of a physical disc drive as scalpers have ruined that market, and physical games had better sales than the digital but i didnt buy any bc i dont have a disc drive or anyone else around me.
If the Pro would've been $500 like it should've been., it would've flown off the shelves.
Arken Age, cyubeVR and Subside are other PSVR 2 titles that you didn't mention.
One thing to keep in mind I got my PS5 Pro at Best Buy open box excellent condition it was basically brand new 620 instead of full price
I said I wouldnt get a pro when the ps5 generation started. I bought one and have zero regrets. Best console period.
Horizon Zero dawn remaster is just unbelievable on PS5Pro.
My only gripe is that developers took the extra head room reserved to increase framerate and just ramped resolution again so we just get another 54fps performance mode, but in 4k. LOCKED 60 or nothing Sony. Not hard.
PS5 Pro: $499
+
Concord Tax: $199
= $699
Concord Tax lol.
the storage space should be adjusted for inflation! the 2tb was a pleasant surprise. the only real L is the disc drive.
Let's be real most gamers are just happy to get a PS5 base
Only reason I’d get this is for gta 6
You kill me with this whole “sticker shock” price. Dude, it was announced and I pre ordered two. Lol. But I’m also the guy who paid $600 for his PS3. If you love PlayStation, you don’t really think twice when new hardware is announced. I didn’t at least lol. 💯
We need to get Sony to send Ryan the PS6! He does amazing Job ain't no way he can't get a review unit.
it simple if you want the pro look into the main differences there a few compare to base ps5 & you have options sell things you own or get on finance I see a phone shop doing a 2 year plan & 250.00 ps store credit with the ps5 pro
I would have initially thought that PSVR2 games would be enhanced by the GPU alone.
If you lived in Texas, I'd offer ya assistance in seeing the difference between the PS5 and the Pro
So basically.
It's a really big upgrade I have the ps4 pro And i'm going to get the ps5 pro For Christmas.
Hopefully
Oh and picture quality?
If gta6 gets capped by the cpu, no amount of horse power on the gpu will solve this.
Every single game will not see improvements .. some old, some new may or may not....ps5pro is really for the future games to look spectacular...the old games are just the cherry on top
I’m still undecided on their intent to introduce ai into the system. What data info will it be mining for 10 years on your network
They just released themes for PS5.
Of all game i play need ps5 pro is FF7 rebirth
Just 1 game so far for me. So for me is kinda not worth it. But for future game maybe
I am baffled how people can see any differences between the two, especially with the PS4 section.
They should have thrown in say a digital copy of Astro Bot to soften the blow of the price.

As someone who has the pro, there’s literally zero difference in bo6 compared to ps5.
And this is why I didn't buy one
Given that Microsoft inherited it through buyout, I don't think they'll be jumping at the chance to make their biggest seller look better on a competing platform.

the valueof the console will only be proven with time based on how many games get patched and support its new features properly (for upcoming games) and how good pssr performs across the board
$800 vs $500 for something you can barely tell the difference 😅.
Even worse whenever the PS5 Pro uses PSSR a lot of games look worse than the regular PS5...it really needs to be called "PiSSeR mode" cause thats what its really doing 😂
Good thing I didnt buy in to the hype...keeping my PS5 still 😊
To add to that, you can't even get a disc drive for it because they are all being scalped.

@@Apocalyptic_SentinelAnother deliberate move by Sony that has come back to bite them in the ass.
I also mentioned the disc drive is already pre-installed on the disc console. Thankfully, they went back to the store, found the disc version (still Fortnite), and they were able to exchange it with just a slight price increase.
