That bull didn't have no dadburn rabies, he got into something that was toxic. And since you have Buckeye trees that'd be my guess as well. And he wasn't foaming at the mouth, he was drooling from the toxins in his system. And even when it's just drool, it can get a little frothy looking when they work their mouth. You did good with him, I'd say the charcoal is what did the trick. And also, there's a few people in those Facebook groups that have some knowledge, but the majority of them don't know their hind end from a hole in the ground. I'd suggest finding an Ol' Timer in your area that's raised Livestock for years & make friends with them. There's a wealth of GREAT knowledge you can learn, because more than likely they've seen it all & know what to do..
@TheCrazyFarmWife I get it. I just couldn't handle it. I'd have to have a lot of physical help, too. Too old for that hard work now. I hope much better times are ahead for you & your family. I wish you well. 😊
Doss family farms are good to their animals and unexpected things still happen there too. There's two others in the Doss family Chad Doss always knows what to do❤️
You can get loose mineral in bags at the feed store and if you have a place to keep it dry you can put in a box or feeder and let them have constant access to it. Also I had a friend whose horse got rabies. She was bitten by either a skunk or raccoon but their dogs didn't keep it away or kill it. She had some similar symptoms but until she became aggressive they didn't know it was rabies. It took a few days for them to decide she had to be tested. So it can happen and that's why people were suggesting it. That and if it were that treating your other animals and your selves quickly would be necessary. You might want to vaccinate your cows. Some farms do.
I’ve had rabies shots. I had fourteen. Was thirty two. I think it’s four now. You should vaccinate your cattle first rabies. Much cheaper than losing animals.
With all your animals, I'd do what Jami & Lester does. They have a huge locked cabinet full of animal meds. From their vet. She's an awesome vet. Nothing like that vet that refused to do Sammys autopsy! They have it ALL! Fron Suites to Boots 👢
if it Rabies he will die. If he dies then have him tested to see if it was rabies. It was good to see he got improved for you. He beautiful bull. Good Luck.
Best noninvasive test for rabies is offer watter. The rabies virus causes them to be extremely thirsty, that's why they foam, but it also causes them to be scared of water. So if there foaming or drooling bad and won't take any water then it might be rabies and you can go from there. This case looks like uou were probably right on the buck eyes. As a side note, if a deficiency is seen and you treat them, they will perk up very fast. It's like a engine needing oil, as soon as you put it in everything runs better. Best mineral to do, is a mineral buffet all the animals can use it and you will see great results.
Just saying, I was chased by a rabid racoon with a baby in my arms in the middle of the day. That racoon jumped into a deep swimming pool, swam across, and climbed out on the other side to get us. I was calling for help, my brother's retriever came running and grabbed the racoon by the back of the neck, the racoon, the racoon bit the dog on the neck and was holding onto the dog's belly with all four claws and they were spinning in circles until my brother shot the racoon off the dog. We had the racoon tested and it was rabid. The dog was given a rabies booster, but that racoon was stumbling across the yard until he saw us and he ran towards us and jumped into the water to get to us where I had run to get away. So idk if the water thing is always true.
Buckeye fall you did good B complex and charcoal. Don’t worry about magnesium. Push fluids get him up walking. Drool means yes toxic injected. This is urgent tell husband other chores can wait.
Also when you think an animal has rabies please please keep them away from other animals and kids because it could spread to them & good job on saving the youngster ❤
Distinct vocalization, bellowing, that some veterinarians say is specific to rabies is a common sign. Rabies should be on the differential diagnosis list for cattle that exhibit abnormal behavior, inability to swallow or choke, neurological abnormalities, and lameness.
Hi, I'm new on your youtube channel . I hope and pray that your bull made it and doing better. Sending love and healing prayers.💗🙏🕊⚘️♥️ Is there any new updates on your bull how hes doing and if hes well now. So did you figure out whats wrong with your bull? Was it the buckeyes?Gods Blessings ❤
if he has Rabies none of those things will help him , if he has Rabies you should have him in a small pen by himself. and have the vet come out and check him. and let them do what ever they do with cattle with Rabies. and you should not let those kids around him, the saliva has the Rabies versus in it and can spread to your kids and your selves. there is no cure for Rabies, I would keep and eye on him, and keep trying to get the vet.
@@ritakinder4452 I knew that he didn't have rabies. It was just a bunch of not so smart people on Facebook that said that when I was asking for advice.
That was my question. I’ve never been around buckeyes. And don’t know how many are around. Would it compromise their land? Apologies I’m new here to the buckeyes
Looks to me like you need to have all different kinds of medicine on hand talk to your vet about getting this stuff when you’re able to get a hold of her or talk to some one who knows more about cattle. Looks like you have a lot to learn with. There’s nothing wrong with that. You just need to explore the idea.
The vet will not give me meds to keep on hand I already asked. I grew up on a farm but I've never seen buckeye poisoning before. But thankfully I was able to use the knowledge that I do have to save his life.
He would have no recovery if it was rabies and he was down. No matter the treatment he would have declined and died. The fact he is up and eating says it is not rabies at all.
Ok I have only seen two videos of your and both have animals getting sick and dying. You need another vet you had the same problem. Ivermectin might be your way to give all your animals
I am so devastated as a owner of 4 fur ruff baby's know it's never easy my heart aches deeply I lost 4 in recent years and none of them been easy 😭😔😭😔😭 dang it dang it from the rooftops I want all my dogs back
1. None of the kids were around when I said it and 2. I can assure you that if our kids went to public school they would hear way worse. You raise your children the way you see fit and I'll raise mine. Have a nice day

I agree with you 100%
Congratulations on saving your bull! Great job, girl.
Thank you!
If it were rabies, he wouldn't be improving. Rabies is a death sentence.
You did a great job! 👏
I'm glad your bull is doing better and hopefully fully recovers . Thanks for sharing your farm adventures and advice.
So sorry. Too many tragedies on your farm. Unbelievable. I hope you can find a better, more available vet(s) in your area. Good luck.
The more animals you have the more things are going to happen. That's just how it is on a farm.

Hello learning from past experience Baking soda is the best thing to give ruminants when they are bloating or have eaten way too many buckeyes.
@@kitmann2718 thank you for letting me know! I didn't know that about baking soda.

I'm glad Raz is ok he's a very pretty bull he'll make very strong and beautiful babies
He wasn’t foaming, he was drooling.
It turned into foam when he was chewing his cud.
@ ok
I think you’re right on, I am so glad you did not lose him!!😃
He had poison s in his system
Such a good looking fella
Chacoal worked to a treat
That was so sad, glad he's doing better!
Yay!! He was getting better!
Tractor suppy sell mineral and potassium bags of it. Its good to mix a 1/2 butter bowl in a 50 pound bag of food its good for them
Thanks for the tip!

Your agricultural office can arrange replacement trees. Even allow you to pick what kind you want

Our neighbors one time lost about three cows and two calves from buckeye poisoning. So sad when something like that happens!
That's devastating! I'm so sorry that happened.
Obviously NOT rabies. You did a wonderful job.
Bovines and equines do not react to rabies the way other animals do.
Great guess. Glad he’s doing better. Sweet - the other cow 🐄 “hey, what’s wrong buddy?”

Add molasses diluted with warm water to the feed to encourage them to eat.

He is such a beautiful handsome bull. ❤
@laurapoynter2970 thank you! He is doing much better. We still don't know for sure what it was. You can see him in my most recent video 😊
When he started flipping around it was the charcoal working
Does he need water
GoldShawfarm lost 2 bull calves to magnesium deficiency earlier this year. Same symptoms, but they were younger. Good luck.
I know this is old, but drooling is stress related. I honestly believe it is the buckeyes.
SEEMS LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE AN ANIMAL DOWN IT WOULD TAKE PRIORITY FOR YOUR HUSBAND TO COME HELP YOU… NOT GOOD
Increase garlic intake. Will help repellent on most bugs. Try to see if it will work for you
Im very excited that Raz is ok. Watch for bats flying around. They have a tendency to carry rabies. I can hear him
B vitamins are water soluable. You can give that daily as well
Rabies is fatal people can get in. Never touch animal that rabies they infect entire family

I think the foaming was part of him being cast on the ground like that for an unknown amount of time.
😂. Rabies is not my first thought. My horses slobber from nitrogen exposure from clovers. Slobber is just slobber 😂
Will he come to a feed bucket?
@@AZJH8374 yeah he is very friendly. He lets us walk right up to him.

Pretty cows! Are they a full grown variety or just babies. This is my first video watching of yours.
Thank you! They are still babies 🙂
Will they eat some molasses over their feed.
You did good, ignore the bad comments.
Thank you!
Two things to have on a farm is charcoal and penicillin
I wish I could get penicillin. But they don't sell it at the store anymore and my vet won't sell it to me to keep on hand.
I dont know what was wrong but whatever you did helped him good job 👍👍
Thank you!
We had to cut down all the black cherry trees in our horse pastures. So many things to think about on a farm😮
Unfortunately we have a lot of those too. It will probably take us a few years to cut down all of the toxic trees.
the only way you would be able to get Rabies is if the cow bit you or you have a open sore
Im happy your bull ok 😊
I believe you are right
i looked up Buckeyes and they are highly toxic for cows.
And hide the pulls in food. They like bananas
Rabies, lol.i would worry about anything around him, especially your kids.
She can say what ever she wants flicking I say it all the time
Put out a mineral block for your cattle
We have
Looks pretty good for rabies lol
He would have no recovery if it was rabies and he was down. No matter the treatment he would have declined and died. The fact he is up and eating says it is not rabies at all.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes a cow can OD on magnesium!!
That's good to know! We definitely didn't give him enough to od on. but that's good to know if we ever have that problem again.
put molasses on the feed
not rabies..good grief
❤
One thing after another. I want to have some animals do get rabies to begin with?!🤔
Possums are immune to rabies
Razz might need selenium ❤❤❤
Give more B and the mag wont hurt. Also calcium. Might be that polio
What is a buck eye
It's a large nut that is toxic. It's also called a horse chestnut. I never saw them or hear of them before moving to our farm.
Chestnuts
Ok I have only seen two videos of your and both have animals getting sick and dying. You need another vet you had the same problem. Ivermectin might be your way to give all your animals
This was not the same problem. Ivermectin would not have helped either animal.

Plz consider giving a home to a needy orphan animal. ❤️
Ohio is the buckeye state.
Could he have more B-vitimins glad he's better
Would it better closer to the your house .😮
You need a backup vet.
Trust me I've looked for one. A backup vet doesn't exist.
Ugh you guys have too much going on ☹️
He looks bloated.
That bull was ill for awhile. It’s skin and bones. They should have known. This is sad watching him suffer
He was not sick for a while and he is not skin and bones. He is a dairy bull. Dairy cows are not as fat as beef cows are.
Imagine being so confident while so ragingly ignorant and wrong at the same time. 😂 My god.
Please don't ever say frickin' around your children. They'll pick it up! Like Maverick on Eldridge Farm Fam. You all know what it's slang for, right?
1. None of the kids were around when I said it and 2. I can assure you that if our kids went to public school they would hear way worse. You raise your children the way you see fit and I'll raise mine. Have a nice day
