I think you mis-categorize the story behind Hit Vibes to call it "funny" in any way. Ryan has publicly said before that Hit Vibes was "about suicide" and made during a very dark time in his life (right before he dropped out of school entirely, actually). And beyond that, he was making the album at the same time as the Boston Marathon bombing, including the 24 hours we were all on a literal citywide lockdown/"shelter in place". Makes the joy and optimism of the album even more profound IMO, and it's something people never talk about. I think that's a shame.
This was so chillaxed to watch - love how the vinyl is just in a simple black sleeve, reminds me of old acid house records, always raises the curiosity as to what it sounds like
A few differences between the vinyl and the digital: On the track 'Skylar Spence' the highs are more noticeable. (Don't know what else to call it. Disco wow-wows? IDK) it's pretty cool nonetheless. On the intro of 'I Tried', the rain sounds are more prominent and up front. There's a fadeout on the track 'Strawberry Lemonade' that's not there in the digital version. That's about all I can pinpoint from my red pressing. Overall it's a great pressing and a super cool item to have. I spin it almost daily! 😁
Love the end quote! "After another promotional, you go back to your home where it's just a normal atmosphere, and it's just you and your piano and you are your guitar and you soon just get down to doing the work." Keep up the good work Pad
Yet another fantastic vinyl review. I don't even own any vinyls but I still have a great time watching your reviews. Very excited to see your next album review/analysis!
Congrats on 10k, your videos are great and I hope, someday, soon, we're looking at that number with at least another zero on it. Love Saint Pepsi, he is more or less the artist that got me into VaporWave, along with Dan Mason and Haircuts for Men.
At last, the beginnings of future funk. Also, score on the price, Chad! Great job. I'm happy to be part of this community. Already I have a collection of tapes, and even my own player in two months. Alright, this album. What is there to say? The iconic sample openings, the tasty bass licks of each funk sample, the production value. This is more than some free press. This is actual music production. Hit Vibes will be something I pass to young ones as music from the 2010s as our Earth Wind and Fire. The internet age way of bringing music back to am artist and his own instruments making barely anything cash wise. Just the passion to make something. This album is what I would use as a study example in sample using as good as any Aphex Twin album. It is about taking nostalgic sounds and beats we remember, distortions and all, and make more music. It's truly a new way to listen to music. That is the beauty of this genre. We make stories with music alone. The canvas is our ear. The paint is the note. We as fans should listen to vaporwave not only as a personal story, but a shared nostalga of generations ast, present, and future.
I'd love to see some more reviews on vaporwave records but just any other music records too just to see your opinions on something. You have a very colorful way of describing music. Keep up the great reviews
Lovely album! And you finally got it! I actually checked my purchases archive and figured out i payed for my black promo copy as yours just 25$ back in 2015 :D
Wow. You are really really lucky dude. Also the review was excellent and hoping to see more reviews coming from you , i really like your way to tell stuffs Love it :)
I’d really like it if you did a review of Saint Pepsi/ Skylar Spence’s newer album Prom King, to sort of see how he’s changed and where he’s headed. I know it’s not really Vaporwave but some sort of artist review would be really neat.
Hit Vibes isn't just the greatest Vapourwave/Future Funk album... it's one of the greatest albums ever put together. It deserves to be on the same list as Back to Black, Abbey Road, Buena Vista Social Club, Lonerism, etc
been here when you had about 3 videos man, keep up the great work! by the way at 0:04 is that a bootleg copy of "Late Night Delight"? It looks amazing.
I got the cherry red vinyl for a little over $100 back in 2015 off discogs (this was beyond the initial release so third party sellers were pretty much the only way to find one). Sadly, there's minor warping on one side of it, but otherwise it plays just fine towards the end of the album. I also committed a possible sin by writing the album title and tracklisting on the jacket with silver sharpie because the plain black jacket was dull to me. I wanted that artwork too!
Great video. This package and label looks like the 12" dance singles/remixes that were sold back in the day (probably done that way on purpose...) appropriate for this title... funny, you've experienced nearly everything about getting a record that you don't experience anymore by simply pressing "purchase" on your smartphone.. ;)
All this resurgence of old formats is crazy. I just got my copy of "Luxury Elite" on Cassette and am eagerly awaiting my copy of "Foral Shoppe" on 8-track (thanks to your video)... Please send help... :P
This video was like a taboo for me because I didn't have a copy. Now I'm pretty happy that I was able to get 1 out of the 300 original copies, and also one of the upcoming repress.
I love your channel pad and ive always loved your take on what vaporwave meant to you and what albums were about and your interest in them. Your literally the anthony fantano of vaporwave (except a lot nicer lol) I know you recently were in contact with saint pepsi though and i was wondering if you could upload your vinyl rip (with their permission of course) of this album because we've all been waiting so long and is so rare. If you ever did upload it you'd be considered a god to be honest because so many people want to hear it even if it means losing a little bit of quality I know this is asking a lot but I hope you at least respond either way but Ill still love your channel if you decide to ignore this or to decline.. By the way thr interview was amazing too! Hope we can see more collabs with him lol
Do you like Saint Pepsi? His early work was a little too Vapor Wave for my tastes, but when Late Night Delight came out in’13 I think he really came into his own, comercially and artistically. The whole album has a gloomy and distant, yet familiar and soothing sound, a new sheen touch of consumer culture that really gives it a big boost. He’s been compared to Luxury Elite, but I think Pepsi has a far more dynamic, driven style to his music. In ’13 Pepsi released this: Hit Vibes, his most accomplished album. I think his undisputed masterpiece is «Cherry Pepsi», a song so catchy most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it’s not just about the pleasures of soft drinks by Pepsi, and the importance of capitalism (and bringing your own baby), it’s also a personal statement about the artist himself. Hey Paul!
LanDoody I actually didn't get a Wish You Were Here vinyl not long ago. I've got a whole cd collection and Roger Waters tour book but this was my first Pink Floyd vinyl. Just gotta save up for a turntable and I can listen to beauty the og way.
Heard about it getting reprinted this december or something like I really hope he uploads his vinyl rip or something along the lines of it before then or if he asks for permission to, because I know a lot of us are dying to even hear it on vinyl and really its probably not even gonna be repressed in a good quantity if it does ever come out. And thats even if it means losing a little bit of quality.
He said there would be a repress early 2020. He took the tweet down tho lol. But a vinyl repress is GUARANTEED. He released the remastered version on his bandcamp page and said it was for the “limited pressing”. saintpepsi.bandcamp.com/album/hit-vibes
a Fluance RT 80! Absolutely love it and highly recommend for the price, you can't beat it. never ever had a problem with it, here's my amazon affiliate link for it if you're interested!: amzn.to/2H1XjeQ
Had to come back to this today after getting it. I'm here thinking "$90? You fuckin' idiot. I paid like $25 and all I had to do was be _really fucking fast_ on the Carpark website." Jkjk. Man, am I glad I finally got it.
@@PadChennington i remember that line. and the dude in front of me who got the last copy of empire building. it did lead me to getting itllt and set me on the shroudie road tho, so secret blessings, i guess.

Camino 84 damn
We are :) Ryan once described the album to me as a semi-concept album, a "bright, beautiful party in the midst of all the dark shit"
Such gems can come from much torture.
Who would have ever thought this? It's incredible how much emotion and pain can be behind a seemingly happy album.
God I love Hit Vibes so much
My favourite vaporwave album
I’d ask for a Top ten vaporwave albums that should be repressed video, but this album would take all ten slots.
Good news, it's being repressed!
The thank you near the end made me feel like I finished a Mario game.
Subbing was my best UA-cam related decision in a long while.
Cheers!
This was so chillaxed to watch - love how the vinyl is just in a simple black sleeve, reminds me of old acid house records, always raises the curiosity as to what it sounds like
came back to this review after pre-ordering the repress!

There's currently an official repress going on. If you check Skylar's band-camp, you can find it.
Yep!!! Did ya end up grabbing one?
Pad Chennington Yeah!
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT U DID THIS!!!
THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!
Gratz Paddy Daddy, can't believe you're at 10k already.
1 MILLI OR BUST
Love the end quote!
"After another promotional, you go back to your home where it's just a normal atmosphere, and it's just you and your piano and you are your guitar and you soon just get down to doing the work."
Keep up the good work Pad
Managed to get a copy of the repress. Couldn’t be happier
Congratulations pad!!! You skyrocketed and reviewed one of my favorite records. Keep doing your stuff!
Definitely my favorite album from Saint Pepsi. I hope I can find a vinyl for own collection one of these days without breaking the bank.
It's being repressed!
Keep it up man, you opened up a whole new genre to me and a bunch of other people, thank you.
Yet another fantastic vinyl review. I don't even own any vinyls but I still have a great time watching your reviews. Very excited to see your next album review/analysis!
thank you Jose as always :)
HAPPY 10K thanks for the being my source for vaporwave reviews :)
I remember seeing the red vinyl on carparks website for sale. So sad I didn't pick it up :(
:/// supposedly saint Pepsi has a bunch extra in his closet or something lol
Hit Vibes was my first introduction to the vaporwave/future funk community. “Around” is one of my all time favorite tracks.
I love your use of imagery when reviewing your albums. It really adds something unique to each review. Keep up the great work! Congrats on 10,000 :D
Congrats on 10,000 subs, man! It felt like just yesterday your channel had just a few. Keep the work up!
I'm so glad that you've hit 10k!! I've been subbed for a while and you've remained one of my favorite people on UA-cam! Keep doing what you're doing!
God I need that record
love my hit vibes :) now I gotta find a way to get the red lol
@@PadChennington The red one looks more special haha but I'd love to have the black one as well
7-year anniversary today! This gem never gets old. Easily one of the best albums of the last decade.
Funny watching this after the repress went live. I managed to snag one of the 300 off Carpark and I can’t wait!
Congrat Pad ! Thank's for giving us such great content
much love, pad. congrats on scoring hit vibes, and congrats on 10k subs. you've earned it pal.
He clearly likes it

Congrats on the subs and getting such a coveted piece of music history!
You killed it, pad. Such an awesome video. Congrats on 10k and continue with the awesome job.
It bugs me that the label isn't perfectly centered...
One of the best Vaporwave albums (if not the best), hands down.

You can make a custom vinyl jacket for it on kunaki for $7
Excellent vid, big question though paddy, where do I buy a bust like ya got there next turn your turntable?
I wish there were more Future Funk albums.
CONGRATULATIONS
Skylar Spence is my favorite track
4:21 song is crystal clear by pega
the virtua.zip blue vinyl goes for around $100 so the fact that you got hit vibes at that price is just

omg yes
Oh my where did they have Hit Vibes for C$100? If I find out I missed out on that I'm drowning myself in maple syrup.
I'm not trying to pay $650 for a record
