One thing I learned as an American when I moved to London in 2020 is to leave my jewelry at the house 😂. Unless I’m going to somewhere secure in a rural countryside my jewelry STAYS AT THE HOUSE! It’s in our culture as Americans where every man who cares about his appearance should at least have a gold chain, real diamond earrings, or a nice watch. It’s not just urban culture either, you can find plenty of regular middle class guys in a button down shirt, slacks, and sneakers with no chains but have a $20k Rolex on just walking around in public casually. I think as Americans the reason we feel so safe to implement jewelry into our culture stems down to having guns in public concealed. Your chances of getting robbed for your jewelry is just soooooo low because with guns it’s created a cultural deterrent to approach somebody when you know your gambling with your life if you do. Where as since I’ve been in the UK I’ve realized English people don’t have it embedded in their minds to choose wisely before approaching someone due to the fact that there’s a severely lower chance they’ll be able to defend themselves if you try to rob them or jump them. I agree not to share weakness 100%, they use that against you as soon as it's over (unless they're like the 1% that aren't crazy and evil) from my own experience I had a GF in high school that I stayed with till I was in my early 20's. We broke up and she started smashing my older friends and stuff to try and get to me. I didn't care, and found a younger, far more attractive girl myself. She turned the majority of my old scene against me, and now I have serious mental issues, and can't trust anyone. she used all of my fears against me, and fed this info to people so they could use it against me in psychological warfare. I'm a wreck now and ended up on the H to try and cope with all the trauma they caused me NEVER tell them your fears because they can, and likely will use that against you when things go sour, and 99% of the time things will go sour. It might be cool for a while after a break up, but they won't like you moving on, and this is when the claws come out.
