Whoa Nelley, 1984 and soon to be out the door. It never fails, just as I shut the computer off, you post a video and my phone notifies me. LOL. Don Ringler Chevrolet is still in business at 7777 S General Bruce Dr, Temple, TX 76502. As most know, I have an '84 Delta 88 Royale Brougham coupe with a 307 V8. These cars are a favorite of mine as they are solid, reliable, sharp looking and a good value. They run for a long time with basic upkeep.
We got the VIN, we win: 1G3 for US made Oldsmobile, A for manual seat belts, Y for Delta 88 Royale Brougham, 69 for four door sedan, Y for 5.0L (307 CID) V8 with four barrel, Oldsmobile produced (by then corporate), aka RPO code "LV2", aka "Can You Hear Me Runnin'?" 8 is a check digit, E for the 1984 model year, X for Fairfax, KS assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Fairfax plant closed in early 1987 and Fairfax II still operates. My car was also assembled there in June 1984.
We got the SPID, glad you did: AM6 for split front bench seat with center armrest, A01 for tinted glass, all windows, BS1 for acoustical insulation, B22 for inner door panel emblem, B34 and B35 for front and rear floor mats, carpeted and color coordinated, B85 for belt reveal molding, B93 for door edge guard molding, CD4 for delay wiper system, C01 for body ornamentation, C60 for air conditioning, D34 for mirror, inside sunshade, D90 for stripe front end and body, FAI for Fairfax, KS assembly, GU1 for 2.41 rear axle ratio, G89 for 7.50 ring gear, K19 for Air Injector Reactor system, K34 for cruise control, K81for 66 amp alternator, LV2 for 5.0L (307 CID) V8 with four barrel, MV9 for THM200 three speed automatic transmission without overdrive, MX1 for automatic transmission merchandising option, NA5 for Federal emission system, N81 for full size radial spare tire, NK8 is the fuel tank size, around 25 gallons, N33 for tilt wheel, N91 for simulated wire wheel covers with locks, N99 for heavy duty wheels, QJW is a tire code, TR9 for courtesy lamp group, UB8 for high horn note "C", UP8 for stereo radio provisions, U25 for rear compartment lamp, U26 for under hood lamp, U58 for AM-FM stereo radio, U64 for four speaker system, U75 for chrome power antenna, VD7 for rear aluminum bumper provisions, VK3 for front license plate bracket, V73 for US/Canada vehicle statement, WK2 for Delta 88 Royale Brougham, YR1 for custom front seat, YS1 for custom rear seat, YT1 for build-up doors and quarters, YT6 for special trim buildup, 77E for Dark Maple cloth interior trim, 77I for Dark Maple interior trim, 78L and 78U for Dark Autumn Maple lower and upper exterior paint, 78Q should be for Dark Maple moldings, among other codes.
Those taillights are getting harder to find so they are worth grabbing if they are in good enough shape with no cracks. They were only used on 1984-1985 Delta 88 models, except the 88 Royale LS which had all red taillights. That car was trying to really "upscale" the 88 into Olds 98 territory.
Whoa Nelley, 307 is going to Heaven. That's it, time to quit. Brougham is about to go home. "B" body is a bit shoddy. Going to be flat and that's that. Quadrajet was always a sure bet. "LV2" and it's over for you. MV9 is out of time. Going to be flat and soon to leave the chat. Paint code 78 used to be great. Please don't get squished because all of the "B" body faithful, many here, maybe Benny and his brother and for sure the Google Man are all going to be very, very, very, very, very pissed.

As we all know, the 307 Oldsmobile engine was a durable engine, just not a powerful one.
I appreciate the big rear wheel drive American vehicles.

@@garymckee63 Yup, the powerband of a lawn mower, but very reliable as were other Oldsmobile V8s of that era.

My friend used to drive an 83 Delta 88 Royale Brougham. This was in the mid 90s. Tan with a brown padded vinyl top and brown velour interior, wire wheels, power windows door locks and seat. It had a 307 and the overdrive automatic transmission in it. It was a really nice car and was in great shape. In 83 the tail lights were all red. In 84 they went to orange turn signals in the tail lights.

Except for the Oldsmobile 88 Royale LS. That had all red tail lights in 1984 and 1985.

I had an '82 2 door (same generation). It rode smooth as glass and was very comfortable, but man, that 307 under the hood sure was slow lol

A very good friend of mine brought a used 1980 Royale coupe back in the day. She just loved it. About a year later she got hit in the driver's rear quarter and when she got in out of the body shop her husband insisted she get rid of it.

First of all, I believe he lives in an apartment complex so there goes that, as they would be restrictive as to what's parked in the lot. Even if his commercial storage building where he has his projects looks like Sanford and Son, he'd still be a better neighbor than most people.
