The Eibos Polyphemus has a separate "humidity hold" mode that by default keeps the chamber at 20% RH. Unfortunately it doesn't switch to that mode after a drying cycle. You have to tap the power button after drying is complete. But it'll stay in "humidity hold" mode until you turn it off.

I wish too... I think we just need two more steps for make 3D printing better... Ai - which will decide in real time how to print (adaptive) fast and beautiful projects + slicer which will fix any curves or another issues. Then self drying - for example Bambulab new GEN printers should consider AMS 2.0 which will dying filament in real time. I personally have an vision (I'm not designer or scientist) about invent something like reservoir between filament and hot end. Something like flow tap heating pipe. So you will have 20-30cm pipe between AMS and Hot end - which will preheat filament and dry it out before it goes to hot end. So you can use filament straight away with any moisture condition. It may extend printing time as it will do in real time but I think effects will be beautiful! Ah maybe the 3rd invention which I saw already is adaptive hot end - it will be cool to have it.

Another great video! I was watching this a week or so ago, and was struggling with a spool of Hatchbox Transparent Black PLA that was so brittle it would snap if you looked at it funny. I ordered the 2 spool version of this off Amazon , and today that same spool of filament is happily churning out prints on my Ender 3 V3 SE after about 12 hours in the drier. Amazing what a gram or two of water can do to your PLA.

Hi Bryan, I enjoyed the video but in the future I was wondering if you could look into a way to quantitatively compare filament driers as "it does dry filament" is less helpful to a buyer than "it driers filament better than this one and worse than this one" sort of thing. Thanks again!

I just brought it. What I don't like is the screen - is responding very badly. As you see when you press you actually touch the screen which is changing colour (under pressure of your finger). I just have concern it's bit fragile and after year or two I will be unable to set up anything. I understand the price is low and they done some kind of "design" but I think good step for next model will be add Bluetooth option and simple phone app.

Thanks for the video, nicely done. I have two of the space Pi dual units, they have desiccant packs in them, there's a grate you remove and it's locked under the grate. I haven't seen the single in person so I can't say if it has this feature or not, but it seems weird that it wouldn't, perhaps they noticed the mistake and added it in the dual.

I’ve just purchased this one and also the 2.0 version. My thoughts on it are.
    Space:
    - larger unit
    - pre set temperatures for easy selection
    - filament port at front not suitable for example k1 unless facing other way
    2.0
    - Smaller
    - seal on the unit seems more tight
    - knob control easy to use
    - manual entry of temperatures having to revert back to paper for temperature to set

    • @Dudley246
      @Dudley246 4 місяці тому

Upon further comparison the 2.0 shows the pla humidity reading at 16%, when placed into the space pi and run it shows as 26%.
When running pla in both and swapping after a 4 hour window the numbers just don’t add up.
I don’t think I could say which one is correct at this point

If you can sell a device that costs 10$ to produce for 50$ to customers, thats all the incentive they need to make and sell these products. It's not about doing the best they can to dry your filament. Considering how long they were selling sub par printers to customers, where even small low cost improvements would have made a much better product, this seems to be just following the old strategy to bring a minimal viable product to marke. They will slowly sell incrementally improved versions of this, to hopefully even sell more product to the same customers again...

The "mistake" in your opinion might not be the real mistake, 1-2 grams of water expelled from the filament over 12 hours period of time, and you think there's need for a venting fan? Particles' Brownian motion will cause the humidity to equalize.

My other dry box that has a better seal can keep moisture as low as the hygrometer can go, so I'm wondering if you've noticed if it works decently as a drybox when it's not heating (keeps moisture out)?

Would have loved for someone to actually put a calibrated temperature and humidity probe in there to verify theyr sensors and make sure that the heater does not overheat the air at any point. Depending on where the sensor and heating elements are placed and how they implemented the regulation loop there might be some awful design choices hiding in that fancy looking gadget.

Creality on their website states it uses an air circulating PTC heater which sets it apart from most Pi pad filament heaters. So why is it not named the Space PTC? It’s literally named after a product that they themselves mention is not inside the product and apparently is inferior to the PTC heating element. This is the dumbest product name I’ve ever seen if what their website says is true. I was going to buy it but because of that either blatant lie either in the name itself of the description itself about what’s inside not in fact being PTC I chose a Fixdry dryer. No confusion or lies about what it’s called or what’s inside.
