    Perfect timing. My silver silk pla was starting to clog from moisture because my printer is in the same room where dry my clothes on an airer

    • @Darkwingdad
      @Darkwingdad  2 місяці тому

      Yep, silk is much more prone to moisture absorption but eventually everything needs drying at some point

    I bought this one as well, I'm loving it and have gone through my entire collection and dried them out and man are the results way better. Especially with PETG - I realllly was having a hard time with stringing and adhesion between layers - one thing I noticed though is that Creality is very conservative with the times and temps, checking the filament manufacturer prescribed settings they were always 5-20 degrees higher and 4+ hours longer than Creality recommended. For example - Bambu Lab recommends 55 degrees and 8 hours for all of their PLA varieties, and 65 at 8 hours for PETG. I also use the Space Pi to dry out desiccant beads using a donut shaped ring for bambu spools (I also used a basket made for the space pi but it seemed a waste of space being a half-circle shape) the best so far was 70 degrees for 4-8 hours depending on how saturated the beads are.

      Really appreciate the feedback & glad you are liking it! It’s funny you mention the drying times because I’m trying out sunlu s2 dryer & there length of dry time is longer but temp is lower. I typically go off of the chamber humidity% once it’s 30% or lower typically your good. The creality space pi got as low as 14%, very impressive!

    Also I really think its strange that people think 'there is no exhaust for moisture', when there absolutely is - on the Space Pi's back upper shell there's a small hole that on first glance can look like a manufacturing injection mold flash dot, but it's actually a very fine hole that goes all the way through to vent moisture - there are these models on printables that 'vent' this dryer - don't do it, i tried one to see if it worked better and all it did was make the room super hot and the tempurature fluctuated a lot more than it did with the shell compldetely closed.

      I had one person as about the exhaust, it’s a great design and piece. Thanks for the tip on the add on piece, not everything needs to be modified!
      Any plans to pick up the space pi dual?

    This was the video I needed to see. I just bought the double roll version for $85 and was not sure what the RH should be when wet versus dry. Thanks for that!

    Hi, does this have an intake and exhaust for the damp air, or does the lid need to be opened periodically to release the humidity during drying?

    • @Darkwingdad
      @Darkwingdad  2 місяці тому

      It does have exhaust to help move the moisture out. Located near the front of the dryer.

    I'm worried about two things: the reliability of the humidity sensor and the reliability of the screen. I've seen reports of the humidity sensor failing, and Im worried about the touch screen putting force on the lcd display enough to cause those wavy artifacts.Won't that shorten the lifespan of the display? also, has the Humidity sensor been working well 2 weeks later?

    • @Darkwingdad
      @Darkwingdad  Місяць тому

      Touch screens can definitely raise concern levels, so far it’s been ok. As far as the hydrometer goes I can a small one I put in that runs off a cr20 battery and it was almost dead on with crealitys

      @Darkwingdad Oh that really is cool! I ordered a Creality drybox 2.0 (that I plan to mod a bit), but... i might keep an eye on this one then. It looks promising.

    I wasn't willing to spend $100+ on a dual spool filament dryer, so I got a Sovol/Comgrow SH01 (I got the Comgrow branded one because that one came in black and the Sovol comes only in white). I like the Creality Space Pi because it goes past 50c. What I like about the SH01 is that they designed the hood latches to act as props to prop up the lid so you can vent the humidity/steam out when drying, something I noticed you didn't do when demoing the Space Pi. Does the Space Pi blow out the humid air with the fan? I know that with most of the driers that have a fan, they don't and they require you to keep the lid open during the drying cycle.

    • @Darkwingdad
      @Darkwingdad  Місяць тому

      Yea it has a fan & an exhaust so it’s removing humid air. The prop is very nice, it’d be cool if dryers and a locking hinge to position or hold it in place. That’d be an awesome addition. I’m doing a video for sunlu and I’m using Teflon tubing to prop it lol 😂

      @@Darkwingdad Tried to post the link but my comment got auto deleted. Try printing one of these from Thangs or Printables: "Filament dryer box wedge (Sovol SH01)". Maybe this will work as a hood/lid prop for the dryers that don't have something built in. I printed one for my SHO1 because it also has a PTFE tube clip so if I want to run filament out the gap in the lid while drying, I can.

    How's the primer test coming along?

  • @WernerKaffl
    @WernerKaffl Місяць тому

    Using a esun drier, I found dried filament to print generally cleaner as you stated. The esun though is much more basic, no humidity sensor in that one, so that alone is a big plus for the Space PI.
    I might get myself one soon.
    Regarding the video, no offence, but when you demonstrated the after-drying prints, pretty much all the problem areas were rather blurry and you moved the camera rather fast/erratically. Gave me a hard time to see the differences in prints. I don't doubt there are differences, but one can't really see them
    🙂
