"Good Mourning" is actually a great movie title. It could be a drama about a family dealing with a loss or it could be a murder mystery that involves a morning news show.
@TECHNOBLADE IS BURNING IN H3LL does saying these things bring you joy? I don’t see the appeal, most people would probably see this and think you’re insane, or a sociopath. Are you? I think it'd be funnier if he got a text from a random number that just said "good mourning" and thought it was a threat and someone he knew was going to die. It'd still be stupid, but in a different way.
And that would’ve even made way more sense for a stoner comedy, playing off the whole paranoia aspect, ditching his technology so he can’t be tracked and traveling cross-country with his friends, the media thinking he was kidnapped and the police searching for him, (which he and his friends are unaware of without their phones, so now think it’s the government out to get them), just so many more opportunities for entertaining plot points

Pete spelled his name out so we would see it was spelled Berry like the fruit, and not Barry like the traditional name. Which I think is the best part of the whole movie. Berry is a great name when it's spelled like the fruit.
Whats funny is that ryan higa made a funnier, better produced and acted youtube video about the confusion between the spelling of the words 7 years before this came out and it still holds up to this day

Danny’s critiques are so right on. Thinking smoking weed is somehow badass or subversive when it’s literally a legal and government regulated aspect of most states. And the opening scene feels like such a simultaneous rip off of every 80s comedy with the 1st person omniscient narration and then every 90s/00s teen comedy with the weed centric lines. I really hate to say it, but there’s something weird and profoundly unfunny about a bunch of ppl in their 30s and 40s acting like teenagers.
it seems like MGK is basically ripping off old stoner movies. but all those old stoner movies were made in the 80s when you could get into serious shit for smoking weed. its not really that crazy nowadays.
@@emmakaisa27 yeah I got into trouble in my state for weed actually but it still doesn’t carry the same subversive energy it did back before any of us were even born.
I don’t know why you dislike this movie. When MGK whispered “it’s mournin time” and then mourned everywhere a tear streaked down my face [edit] this has gotten far too much traction, where’s the other five people who hate on morbius so they can band together as the party who will kill Morbius?
“machine gun Kelly was like my fans are probably young enough where both their grandparents are still alive so I should tell them what I means” what a PERFECT roast, Danny
Why- why did I just realize, after watching the whole video, that this was about machine gun kelly- Like I’ve heard the name- but I didn’t make the connection w his appearance or the acronym T-T Plus, I missed a couple Danny videos and was catching up so I assumed the reason he was so familiar w this mgk guy was bc he’d made another video about him or smth- lmfao rip me
When I saw the first scene, I thought this could be kind of interesting. I expected some kind of dark humour movie that tries to make jokes about how the mc tries to handle that his girlfriend committed suicide. I thought the "Good Mourning" meant that she hopes he gets through losing her. My first thoughts were that it was a risky idea but, if it was well done, it could have pretty strong emotional moments while still being a solid dark humour comedy. Then I remember it was a MGK movie.
Let's be honest, the only people that watched it were probably just his fans, and even as low of standards as they must have, still less than 3/4 of them liked it.
If I had a nickel for everytime danny reviewed a movie with a 0% rating that features Pete Davidson giving the least invested performance of his life I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
"good Mourning" would actually be a really good title for like a dark comedy about someone working through grief directed by Phoebe waller bridge or something
"Pete Davidson feels like he's not really invested in this movie," is a statement that could be made about Pete Davidson in any movie he's ever been in.
Fun fact: mgk said this movie was inspired by Megan fox literally dming him saying “good mourning” and him flipping out and over obsessing wondering if it was meant to be a bad thing or good thing. He literally said he almost lost his mind trying to figure it out 😂 can’t believe he made this movie
as someone in theatre, his use of props and costumes in his self tape, his apparent lack of slate in the self tape, and his not having been preparing for this huge audition prior to it, are KILLING ME (will there be more things before the video is done? probably)
Danny was 100% accurate with the "UM...THAT JUST HAPPENED" Millennial vibes.... The movie just screams *I'm nearly middle aged but desperately want the approval of teenagers because I peaked in high school*
@@xxfiza. it is to gen z. I guess. I hate millennial humor, "omg I hate adulting", I can't take it, it's not cute or quirky or funny... but yeah millennials aren't that old yet come on
TBF, millenials are considered to begin in the early 1980s, so some are around 40 by now. I'd call that middle-aged personally. That's ultimately just a nitpick though. You're still spot on analyzing the characters in this. It's pretty cringe.
That "water bottle" in the scene where the guy falls asleep in his cereal looks suspiciously like a bottle of what the kids call "lean" and his friend is having all the symptoms of an opioid overdose 🤔 That's why his friend is sick, Danny. His friend is suffering from crippling opioid addiction
Also can we talk about how MGK left that guy to literally die? Dude was drowning in his cereal milk, literally not breathing air cause he was unconscious. MGK just said "welp cya imma mourn ya good mourning lol bye"
From Cody Ko fainting into his bowl of cereal to being paralyzed in a hospital with his “girlfriend”, MGK’s reaction to everything in this movie really is just “Wow. That just happened.”
Machine Gun Kelly changed my life. I was a struggling alcoholic, and I thought I was the worst of the worst. But when I learned about MGK, I realized there was someone even worse than me, and I turned my life around. edit: why are so many of the replies saying how they thought I was serious lol
Dang I actually thought it was true! I know you're sarcastically making fun of MGK, but listening to music of artists who struggle with the same issues you have and worse can really touch you in reminding that you're not alone
MGK's music helped my sister who was on the wheelchair for 10 years, When she heard his dog shit music she immediately got up to close it, YOU ARE A LEGEND MGK
Wow. MGK is the most musical musician of our generation. He makes music that has sound, as well as words! In fact, his albums have songs! A true pilgrim of music.
This is a horror movie, no a documentary...it's completely based on his real life and that's so scary to me 😂 he said that Megan sent that text irl and because her phone died and she had no signal during her flight he thought she was breaking up with him and he literally went through this process calling all his friends and asking their opinion...he said he "spiralled" and lost himself and panicked and lost control thinking she had left him. Spiralled......because of a simple typo.....Like I said, this is a horror documentary.
Ok so I lost my grandmother on Saturday, and Danny's "happy grieving!" feels like the perfect response to the people who say "did you cry? you'll get better in no time". I just needed to hear it, thank you Danny!
MGK ruined Megan’s rise. I was rooting for her after she exposed how Hollywood executives treated her, even at such an early age. How they only typecasted her as the “hot girl” and how she wanted to show her talent by taking more serious roles. And then…she plays a hot girl in MGK’s movie. Gag.
i interviewed MGK one time for an internship i was doing and the publication i was interviewing him for was based in Cleveland, OH where he (and I) grew up and he got way too excited ab it and proceeded to try to bond over Cleveland for the entirety of the interview no matter what questions i asked him
@@kassiogomes8498 he was trying to get a job by stressing his similarities with the interviewer, a bit manipulative in a very unclever way. It sounds like he is bieng a suck up here.
My cousin and i actually saw this movie in the theatre. I wanted us to see it because it looked like it would be funny to laugh at. Only one theatre was playing it and it was a half hour drive to get there. We ended up being the only people in the screening and even the workers kept popping in to check if we were really watching it.
@@alenunya the movie is just enough of a disaster that you want to see where the story is going and just how absurd it will be. If i was alone, i wouldve walked out. We made it all the way through the movie and it was satisfying if only for the fact it was fun to rip on it the whole time. Its one of those " so bad its good" movies but still best to watch with a group. I had a friend try to watch it on his own and he quit halfway through.
I love how Danny and Drew have been releasing their videos at the same time and competing on the trending list like they're the two big blockbusters of the summer.
wait a second, why couldn't he have texted "Apple" what she meant by the text in the morning itself?? though I'm sure he was high in the morning and imagined the whole fiasco of a day before texting her what she meant. That would make 1000 times more sense than the actual movie.
It’d be wild if in one of those cliche movie where the main character does a big gesture to solve multiple conflicts, it somehow switches things. Like the climatic moment makes the director fall in love with them and the girlfriend give them a job. It’s not like it’s ever really logical the other way to beginning with.
I'm friends with a couple people on Facebook that unironically love MGK. One person even actually made a whole post talking about how "funny" this movie was and how "hot" MGK was. I never wanted to unfriend someone more.
@@lauratroy13 I'm pretty sure my friend is going to the same concert 🤣 he told me this movie is great, after seeing this video I'm really doubting that.
i don't know how people can love the current MGK, he seems so disconnected from reality it's disturbing lol at least before when his rap career started, he was all about supporting his daughter and just trying to make money, now it's just like he's trying to stay relevant by doing outlandish stuff. but his music would've kept him relevant if he didn't start being a weirdo
@@dae8665 i don't get it either. I honestly think my friends only listen to his music and follow him on ig and that's it. I learn stuff about him and Megan fox against my will that my friends don't even know
13:25 when you said "they're both paralyzed" I thought this is a joke. But then it cuts to them actually being fucking in full-body casts in a hospital. I'm literally crying lmao
Danny forgot to mention that there's an after credit scene that shows the entire movie was actually the ending to the TV show they mentioned earlier. Also, MGK is actually a British actor at the end lol
I get the feeling that this movie was going to end with her dying in the accident at the end. It would have been impactful (no pun intended) and way more of a dark comedy. I don't know if he had help writing it like this or what but I think at some point in pre-production (potentially with the input of others), he changed it to have them just be in a silly hospital gag situation instead. I think we need to see the Snyder cut.
MGK feels like a cockroach to me. No matter where I turn, he's always there, making some out there headline about how "edgy" he is or most likely just wants to be.
I love how Danny goes “this guy” and the guys in question are Mod Sun, Gata and Trippie Redd 💀 also the making of this movie was equally as wild, they didn’t even have a cast a week before filming so they asked everyone they knew to be in the movie as a favor. Also, the whole plot was based on a “Good Mourning” text MGK received from Megan irl before she went to Egypt for a week and left her phone behind. Riveting.
I think quite a few people got a small laugh out of it, it caught me off guard and I smiled. If you defend the movie or MGK because of it though, thats when you should feel shame
The plot to this film is probably the worst I’ve ever heard. Professional script writer: “Ok, for the premise of this film, we need something that we can bounce off of to create good jokes while also providing substantial conflict to keep the audience invested…” MGK: “The movie will be about a guy getting a text from his girlfriend, but instead of texting ‘good morning’, she sends ‘good MOURNING’, as in mourning someone’s death.” Script writer: “No, I mean a plot, for the entire film.” MGK: “That is the entire film.” Script writer: “…”
My sibling and I both came to the conclusion that MGK had his like 12 y/o daughter ghost write the script and she intentionally dumbed it down because she's more mature than her own dad
I randomly bought an MGK t-shirt because the design was really cool not realizing MGK wasn't just a brand or something but an actual weirdo so now I can't wear the shirt outside without feeling like people are gonna think I'm like his biggest fan or something 😭

Weed is still illegal in a lot of places though and you can still get in serious trouble for it
And it’s only state legal, not federally legal, so you can only own up to a certain amount and can only smoke in certain areas besides your home
