    Thanks for explaining what cake flour is because I try to look for it in grocery stores and they usually don't sell it. Will be trying this out!
    Just an FYI for those who have access to Asian grocery stores, you can get the glutinous rice flour for much cheaper like $1-2/bag.

      That is not how cake flour is made. That’s a lie! Cake flour is made with soft wheat, not by replacing it with cornstarch. That is why cake flour has less protein and is recommended for baking cake vs. all purpose flour. It is also processed finer and bleached.

    • @sourbubble
      @sourbubble 3 роки тому

      @@maiaflatebo I wonder if it's a good substitute for cake flour. I usually find I don't want to spend more on cake flour.

    • @maiaflatebo
      @maiaflatebo 3 роки тому +8

      @@sourbubble if you plan to make a cake that calls for cake flour; it is absolutely not a good substitute. After 12 plus years of being a baker and cake decorator, you can definitely tell the difference between using cake flour vs. AP flour with cornstarch added. It does not yield the same texture.

    • @heehoopeenut2579
      @heehoopeenut2579 2 роки тому +1

      @@maiaflatebo also as a baker i can attest to that. there’s no true perfect sub for cake flour but if i recipe calls for only a bit of cake flour the ap/cornstarch mix is better than nothing - just dont expect to get the best results

    I haven’t had one in over 5 years when I lived in japan. I’d always go to family mart to get some. Even before moving, I made sure I had one last one 😭

      Hmm, I have not tried substituting the silken tofu, so I can't say much without testing it out myself.

    Can these be done in an air fry ? Also, if you wanted to add taro to this when and how would you do it?

    • @SimplyHomeCooked
      @SimplyHomeCooked  2 роки тому

      Hi Kimberly, I have never tried baking this yet so I am not too sure. Also, I can't say how much taro can be used without testing it out first. I would hate to guess and have the recipe fail.

    Hi.. thanks for sharing. Your 1 cup is equivalent to how many gram or ml?

    • @limweekeng5440
      @limweekeng5440 3 роки тому

      Your 1 cup is it = to 8 oz?

    • @SimplyHomeCooked
      @SimplyHomeCooked  3 роки тому

      Hi :) A cup is a US standard of measurement. It is not a drinking cup. The cup is volume and not weight. So depending on what you are measuring it will be different weights for the same 1 cup volume. Hope that helps clarify.

    Hello, i just found this video and i was wondering if i could exclude the tofu part

    • @SimplyHomeCooked
      @SimplyHomeCooked  Рік тому +1

      Hi, I have not tested this recipe without the tofu, but I know that there are a handful of recipes that don't use tofu. You might need to mess around with the flour-to-water ratio if you omit the tofu.

    Hi! Is it possible to use homemade silken tofu? (Soy bean milk + lemon juice) thank you !

    • @SimplyHomeCooked
      @SimplyHomeCooked  2 роки тому

      I have never tried making my own tofu, but that sounds like an awesome idea! Unfortunately, I'm not too sure what the results will be so I cannot say much on how this will affect the taste or texture of the donuts.
