I agree with you! I was there in september 2023. We waited in line for 5 hours… 5! What a waste of time - And the crabomelet have not much taste… I do not understand the hype 🤦🏼♂️
Thank you! Hah that’s exactly my point here. But, thank god, I at least managed to wait for the food a little less than 3 hours) Still too much though.
@@Monkey_Oliver_812 i should have clarified, spending 5hrs in line for food is never worth it, unless if you were dead broke, starving, and they were giving away food
I was there on their doorstep few days back and the lady waitress was really rude…. She treated us as if we had come there to eat for free….. Thai hospitality at its best….
Thanks for sharing your experience🙏 I don’t think it is about the “Thai” hospitality. It’s more about the place itself. They sure understand that no matter what they do and how they treat customers, queues won’t get shorter as long as Netflix and Michelin guide exist😅
As a thai.....my family eating sometime chez Jae Fai... More than 20 years ago...! Especially my mom...she love there.😢 But... In my opinion..... it's nothing spacial😢 it's expensive & pricey ( ok.. quality was good) Since ....she is famous and get Michelin star...we never go again.... Now today....many many restaurants offer same things...same quality ..but...much more cheaper 😅 And again as a thai...😅 We can Cooking at home much more delicious & better...😂😂😂
Thanks for your comment🙏! Yes, you are 100% right. There is much better and more tasty Thai food than Jay Fai. And Thai home cooking I never tried, hopefully one day)
locals know it is a tourist trap. the local thailand big c supermarket chain can't give away her brand mama noodles. they stacks lots of it in the special price area 2 for 1 still not selling.
Thank you for sharing🙏 That interesting, because even though there isn’t a lot of locals coming, I know that some foreigners come here more than once. When I was queuing there, I met a guy who told me it’s his third time coming to Jay Fai. I was genuinely surprised. And by the way. Are the noodles any good? I see a lot around 7eleven stores, but never bought one. Is it worth trying?
@@Monkey_Oliver_812 i never tried her brand of instant noodles since they cost a lot more than other thai instant noodles. the made in japan and korea instant noodles are worth the extra cost as they do taste better. during covid jay fai was empty, not even rich locals (many in bangkok) went there. for less than jay fai's 30 usd crab ometet in a hot room with car emissions coming in at a busy traffic light you can eat at a hotel airconditioned buffet and not wait long in a queue.
That’s actually interesting. Keeping in mind that it is mostly mentioned as street food - it feels much worse inside than any street food cart or roadside market. Even though you can sit down. I just realized it. Don’t even have to compare it to some hotel lobby😂
Thank you for sharing your honest experience. I am a local, but I have never tried Jay Fai's food (which I discovered on Netflix, ironically). So it is no longer a place worth to wait and eat, but rather a photo opportunity for tourists. If you are in the Bangkok area, I recommend my favorite Thipsamai pad thai (if you haven't tried yet 😍). I hope you have an excellent day!
I find Jay Fai is mainly for tourist. Try Nong Rim Klong or Hear Hai which located near you and don’t have to wait hours. And tell us know what you think compare to Jay Fai. 😊
Thanks for sharing. I have been to Thailand many times and was intrigued to go here but now you have shared I definitely won't bother going. There are many other hard-working Thai chefs and amazing family-run restaurants that represent much better value than this. Seek and you will find !!
Thank you for your comment! If you check the comments on this post there are some recommendations on places that have similar menus. Even the crab omelet. And aren't overpriced and overcrowded:)
Hey Monkey thanks for sharing it makes my decision easier!!! I won’t wait any longer than 1 hour to eat anywhere in the world for anything. Might be worth dropping by to get some pics and videos. 😂
Thank you! Monkey Oliver at your service XD Check the comment from @kmfa3842 There are some places, that have most of the dishes that Jay Fai has, but at 30 percent of the price and probably without any queues. I haven't tried them, but I definitely will in next couple of days. But pictures on Google look promising.
just try once time and run brother haha in my city bangkok have a lot place for eat like this 1400 bath for all haha hope u enjoy a lot in my country ^^
So true. That’s exactly what I’m trying to say with this video. But I don’t think people believe it after seeing a Michelin star and watching a Netflix episode. Netflix makes you want it so bad 555😂 Thank you!🙏 Enjoying it a lot!
You have to get there early to avoid cues. It's costly compared to the normal street eatery. It's a basic set up... no air conditioning and run down. Overall, it's a good experience and for an Instagram/FB post.
Thank you for sharing your opinion🙏 Problem is that getting early means getting there couple hours before the opening hours. And to be honest, I don’t think that food there is worth coming so early. It there would’ve been an option to reserve a table (even with prepayment) it would sound much more reasonable🤗
That's what the Thai people say about her restaurant. The place is famous, but not that the food are that extraordinary. It's just that they use premium ingredients and selling at such high prices that put the place on the headlines (both negatively and positively). I remember it was mostly criticisms at first (for being overpriced), so the rich Thai people started eating there to show off their richness or whatever, and that made the foreigners start mistaking it as a yummy restaurant.
I don’t think that rich Thai people eating here are the reason. All my friends think this place is a must-visit because of Netflix. But they definitely get a lot of famous Thai people there. They even can get a table on time without waiting in line for half of day.
It's actually 1600 thb now haha. Asked 3 different couples how the food was, all of them shrugged and said "well, it was for the experience.." their disappointed looks said it all. Thankfully we skipped the wait and had a great meal next door...
Well… I would say people who fell for really good marketing and branding. At least those coming there first time. For ones willingly repeating the experience - I got questions😂
Don't have to be polite. Just say it. It's a TOURIST TRAP!
Thank you for the comment. You are right.

How about spending 5 hours on self-education? That seems worth it 😎
@@Monkey_Oliver_812 i should have clarified, spending 5hrs in line for food is never worth it, unless if you were dead broke, starving, and they were giving away food
Hah. That seems more realistic XD

Heck NO, I waited 3+ hours and will not be doing that again. No Thais eating there, ONLY tourists.
Thanks for your comment!
Yep. Waiting time is terrible. 100%. Just a tourist trap.

Come on. Way overrated.
Thank you for your comment! I agree. Hundred percent. More PR-stunt than a restaurant

Thank you so much for the comment!🙏 And thank you for your suggestion, I will try Thipsamai later. As I understand there’s one at the Paragon mall.
Why is it such a long queue? Have I missed something on Netflix?
Watch Netflix series ‘Street food Asia’ episode 1:)
And thank you for the comment🙏
Good video with realistic point of view.
Thank you 🙏

Thank you🙏 That’s the best comment yet! I looked at the menu online and now I genuinely want to go there. Thanks for the recommendation
Great example of waiting list marketing. Respect that you have made it. I would have been going home.
Thank you for the comment. Hah I waited all that time so other people don’t have to😂

This is the dumbest thing ever
Thank you🙏 Waiting in line for three hour for overpriced sure isn’t the best idea55
Very nice just what I was looking for before I decide to go.
Thank you for your comment! I’m glad my video helped🙏
Not worth it all.. taste suck
Thank you for your comment. I can’t say taste is too bad, just too basic

Her hustle is strong. No way any omelette is worth 1400 THB.

Jay tai restaurant is a place where you can find idiots that would pay 35USD for a piece of crab omelette
Well… I would say people who fell for really good marketing and branding. At least those coming there first time. For ones willingly repeating the experience - I got questions😂
Just like most places that become popular from tv shows or celebrity eaters, they are almost always overrated.
Probably Netflix makes anything it touches worse. Or just sets our expectations too high.
❤❤
Thank you🙏
