never identify solely as your labels because you will be restrained by them. You can work out, you can program, you can cycle and like fashion etc, you don't have to be a walking sitcom stereotype of "le IT kid".
I think being creative is definitely a need for a lot of people, and it’s interesting to see how some fulfil that, and how others don’t have that need at all. For me, programming and music are my creative outlets too, plus a bit of writing and storytelling. I was also kind of the quiet kid lol, so I relate to this a lot
I kinda agree with you on the building computers part, building a computer is just following instructions - you put the parts together in a certain order and you get the desired outcome if you do it right. The more interesting part for me atleast is doing stuff with them. I can hack together a shitbox but it's more fun to do absolutely dumb stuff with it that's never gonna be useful to anyone just because it made me chuckle a bit when i got the idea
I can get that, I think some people just like experimenting with customizing/modifying things more than others. I'm kinda the opposite, even my room looks near the exact same as when I moved in.
A sad thing is that when someone is into something or the like society may make you feel like there's some sort of unwritten social responsibility to commit to the stereotype in their head so you're seen more as part of a group of people like you than just a weirdo. But it's liberating when you realise how ridiculous and unnatural is that
I really relate to this video, I'm sad to hear others had to deal with being boxed in but it's so freeing to learn how to, well, set yourself free. I put myself in a box and made myself work towards one goal from an extremely young age and when I realized that I needed to expand it hurt like hell, but it's like ripping off the band-aid to find that the pain was caused by the adhesive since the wound's already healed up. Anyway weird analogy but good on you! You've only got one life so explore things that give you joy!
i grew up with the same type of outlook. but my one fixation was that i always saw people around me with talent working on really impressive projects. programming was sort of monolithic and impenetrable to me until i started doing it as a job and realized it was more (and in many ways less) than i originally envisioned. i hate computers now. chocolate matter
Honestly same,i just want to do cool stuff even if I'm the only person that's sees it,I don't care what medium I use to express it so long it makes me happy.I guess that explains why i do so many seemingly unrelated things.
It's just way more fulfilling to me when you can't call yourself just a programming person, an artist person, a music person. There are parts of all of those I touch that yet I'll go on to just not care whatsoever for others. Do I care about netcode? No, I find it incoherent to work with, but some people will do miracles with that kind of thing (specially in emulation scenes), good for them. Specially in the digital art scene there is this expectation to be kind of selling yourself and making some kind of brand I just don't care for. I just care to make nice things, at most I might say "hey you can commission me" somewhere but this kind of obsession I see seems harmful to the soul. I may mainly be seeking to create games, but I don't really do a lot of what the prototypical indie game developer does and that's ok. Being a real one is looking past those expectations. Very great video.
im currently in high school and i couldnt agree with this video more the things that i make, i make them purely for my interest and my amusement like i wouldnt have picked up 3d software or editing or even programming if it wasnt for cod/cs montages and the fact that hey i can make cool things that i want with this isnt that nice. i dont like labling myself as a programmer or a 3d artist of any sort because i dont know and have no use learning more than i need to for what i do like i will probably never need to learn human anatomy to model and sculpt characters because i dont have a need for it, on another note being the quiet kid has always been nice i never have to deal with anyone and its generally peaceful which i love
A bit of a similar story. I got send to a physics/math school, so I would always feel that I "should" love that stuff, but I don't really feel it in math anymore, and physics stops being enjoyable the further you delve into it.
yeah same. i work at an msp right now mostly because it's good pay and my coworkers make me laugh. they will sit around and discuss the most minute details and it's hard to explain but it's like mostly frivolous stuff that doesn't matter at all.
You put things in an interesting way and I do relate to it. It's interesting to think how my CS background stemmed from being reserved as an infant. Although I genuinely do enjoy CS, its quite a good point how quiet kids are basically assumed to be smart.
i can definitely relate with my interests, especially in terms of art because i dont see myself as much of a "real" artist despite the fact that i do it so regularly, i do and make what i want with art because i find it fun to create with and im okay with not being the best at it, i can be content with my skill, or lack there of, as long as im able to create something that i personally am satisfied with and not exactly what i think other people will find satisfying
Yeah man, we're the type of people that never had anyone quite like us. When i see people's friends, they usually have the same interests, or act the same way, it's like they fit into a category, or a "box" i guess . I never fit into a box, i'd try to when i was younger but i got very tired of it, a lot of my interests are kinda like the way you are, i'm into some things but don't really care to go as hard or study everything there is to know. I feel like i can never truly relate to someone because with every thing there's a "i like this but-" or "i'm like this but-", while most people don't seem to have that problem. Must be nice to never worry about people not undertanding you. Anyways, sorry for rambling, and thanks for the video.
Wind waker, twilight princess, metal gear, time splitters, paper mario, tales of, sonic adventure 1 and 2, mario party, kirby air ride, need for speed, tony hawk games, double dash,
theres no art to making computers. there is no canvas for a pcie slot or a ram stick. but software and its tools you get give you such options. you get to dictate your software while the manufacturers dictate the hardware which you buy. stuffs like buying a box of crayola to draw on a canvas meant for oil. no fun. software is where all the creativity goes in my world.
don't worry, next video is me going "HEY GUYS TODAY IM GONNA TALK ABOUT OSDEV =^D" while subways surfers and gta driving courses play in the background
the quiet kid to osaker pipeline is real
"I just like to make bullshit that's not really useful" we all say in unison
Especially if that bullshit is funny

I thought this was a tutorial on how to box myself in and become a coder for appearance, that was a silly thought in retrospect

what do you think about hardware design compared to software?
I was never the quiet kid, but i respect yall, my best friends have the same traits, you fucking nerds.
Also: love you bro❤
Bro's voice thinks he is penguinz0
Do you have a discord server?
no
same
So you got into programming for the money? How utterly disappointing.
Your voice and story-telling is way too monotone for my ADHD ahh
don't worry, next video is me going "HEY GUYS TODAY IM GONNA TALK ABOUT OSDEV =^D" while subways surfers and gta driving courses play in the background
