- Today, I wanted to take a different approach by presenting these videos. This one will be about the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, from Rescue Team (PMD1), Explorers of Sky (PMD2), Gates to Infinity (PMD3), and Super Mystery Dungeon (PMD4). Each entry holds a special place in my heart as all of them have moments that made me happy, rotting for the characters, or making me cry like a bitch. I want to talk about them all, and this is what the video is all about!

The story of a human turning into Pokémon... Is that what inspired your Pokémon Story series?
Yup. PMD was the main inspiration for it.
The Pokémon Explorers games were definitely the peak of the PMD series. My god, that games story and characters were just next level. Not mention the post game content it had. As a young kid, I was absolutely blown away when there was more content to wrap up other character arcs such as Dusknoir and introduce new characters and their stories to explore. It’s such a shame that Nintendo have gone away from Pokémon spin off titles nowadays because I also really loved the Pokémon Ranger games as well. Guardian Signs was absolutely great and it’s such a shame that Nintendo/Game Freak decided to can that series. It seems to me modern Nintendo/Game Freak have just decided to allow the Pokémon spin off series to rest, which is a damn shame.
Shame it is. I think it could be possible to bring back pokemon rangers in some form, since some switch games allow touch screen controls.
In my opinion, PMD Gates to Infinity is a great game, but it’s just in the shadow of its predecessor, which is just so insanely good that it set the expectations high.
16:03 To me, it's the Explorers games that have this issue, while Super has a smaller main cast, giving each of them enough time to receive focus.
Super is my favorite game in this spin-off series by a long shot. I could go on a lengthy lecture of why that is, but I'll keep it short and sweet by just saying that I like the story, the characters, the recruitment system, and especially the callbacks and the partner.
Super mystery dungeon shaped my love for oshawott, my take on storys, and me as a person.

Some of my favorite games of all time are the Pokémon explorer games. I have so many good memories playing them when I was a kid and even now occasionally play them. I enjoyed the Pokémon Ranger games too. I remember the plot twist and the ending of the explorers of time games made me freaking ball my eyes out when I was a kid 😂

Gates to Infinity was my first mystery dungeon game and from then on I’ve always loved these games my favorite is Super mystery dungeon I know I haven’t played them all but the reason why I love these games is because one they have fun gameplay and great and memorable music but the main reason is the stories I think they are honestly refreshing games because they have such heartwarming stories that make me cry and they have great messages and they make me smile. It makes you feel a roller coaster of emotions and the fan base seems pretty cool.
I own Blue Rescue Team, Explorers Of Sky, Gates To Infinity, and Super Mystery Dungeon.
My team name is MoonRescue because that was my original team name when I got Blue Rescue Team on DS back in the day.
I play them on my 3DS along with the DS/3DS main line Pokemon games.
PMD Red Rescue Team was my first ever Pokemon game for the Game Boy. I was at first disappointed it wasn't regular Pokemon game when I got it gifted, but I fell so in love... Only for that love to turn into a life long love story with PMD Time and later PMD Sky I bought and went through again and again as well. I replayed Time recently and I dearly love it till this day. And finally I also got into Super Mystery Dungeon completely blind. Honestly the first half of the main story took my heart by storm. The whole plot line before you leave the village is just peak wholesomeness, curiousness, adventurous feelings. I then sadly was very disappointed in how the second part of the story wanted too much and shifted the focus away from your characters so brutally. Not like it was bad, but the strongest part that gave me my love for PMD was always it's character work as the focus within these amazing stories. Still I loved the main story overall and went into the post game hoping for the best. The whole Mew Plotline seemed to have so much potential, same with your partner plot, but ahhh, it was so rushed. How much I wish they took so much more time with unfolding the characters and story of this game...
Having just replayed Gates (finished the main story earlier today) I honestly think it’s stronger than people give it credit for. Stronger than Super imo, at least. But then again, I kind of hate Super
All good on the opinions. I still think gates has its redeeming qualities.

Ive just bought pmd super my first ever pmd game.
i love the pmd games honestly the stories they have are so well written in my opinon super mystery dungon is one of the few only game sthat acually gave me a WTF moment becose of the plot twist and the endings ahhhhhh dont get me started on the endings
pmd gates was acually the first game i played! i loved the story and everything tho i do prefer sky and super i find gates to infinity is still a very good game i loved the paredise mechanic and most of the games have nice post game but sky and super had the best post games
Fair opinions all around. I’ll always have a sweet spot for sky, but the other 3 entries are just as good as explorers.
I dont know if im the only one who thinks this, but these days the Pokemon series, especially mainline, isnt doing anything for me (in fact, i think im starting to hate it), but PMD DX really bring me a lot of hope to this franchise, even though its a remake, as i remember i didnt enjoyed any Pokemon game after Explorers of Sky in 2009? (I think).
Im not opposed with a remake of Sky, though i would prefer a new game that takes ideas of that game plus a beautiful pixel art style. DX artstyle was probably peak of the 3d games imo but still i didnt feel it was as crisp as the originals or Emerald, plus the clunky animation that this base models had from the beginning is a bit off.
Im also glad i found the community to be WAY less toxic than the mainline, seriously, im impress.
tbh the reviews of explorers of sky are just foul like you got people hating the game for some reason and whoever reviewed the game just got some serious beef and when i played the game , i saw the reviews and it really made me feel guilty about it and i uninstall it and a few months later i got explorers of darkness and i found out that the partner only pokemon from eos replaced shinx and riolu for some reason . I got the game for 15$ cart only and i kinda liked it .I was not expecting an existing savefile since it would be a bit too awkward and the game was in french so i had to delete the savefile and set it to english i was supposed to get the game along with a final fantasy ds game and the guy who was selling tested it and it was faulty and it ended up just getting pmd explorers of darkness. After that , i got a copy of kirby triple deluxe for about 7 bucks . Also i guess the devs felt sorry about gates to infinity and two years later , they ended up releasing super mystery dungeon , which has the roster up to 20 pokemon 1 less than eos .
Love these games so much😳 Sky is my fave but I also really love blue rescue team. Gates is ok, the plot is good in the end but its boring and gameplay is not fun. Never played Super so idk about it.

I still thing the first entry is stronger than the last two ones and people give too much credit to super while it's plot is kinda meh, has pacing issues and an antagonists that it's just the same concept as the previous entry.
