  • The Gospel of Thomas is part of the Nag Hammadi library discovered in Egypt in 1945, a collection of non-canonical post-resurrection secret teachings allegedly made by Jesus considered by the Church as a heretical Gnostic text. Scholars speculate that the works were buried in response to a letter from Bishop Athanasius declaring a strict canon of Christian scripture.

Gnosis literally means "knowledge", in the context of a spiritual knowledge, or divine insight, emerging directly from the inside, such as an inner voice, a gut feeling, or conscience; not dependent on any priests, or external influence.

Best quotes from Thomas: "To learn my teachings, I must first teach you how to learn." "When you care for what is on the outside, what is inside cares for you." "When you doubt your powers, you give power to your doubts." "Until you master your rage, your rage will become your master."

@UserName Whatever. Not sure about the outside and inside, but agree about the rage. Nothing is so important for rage and hate to be and it is that which must be stamped out, conquered by love of self and others.. Nice name BTW🧡👍🏻

@@StrawberrySoul77 yes, because your agreement is what is required here... (i say sarcastically)
beyond that, I would say you should try living a little before making the sorts of proclamations you make
you talk like someone who has lived a typical sheltered life
or perhaps you are just very young
doesn't matter either way because you actually tip your hand as to the true reason you commented with that 'conquered by love of self' bit and here I am going to copy and paste from a comment a couple spots up: "Blinded by self-importance.......the visionaries of society haven't the vision of a blind musician nor the perception of a church mouse"
Now go back and try and understand what is meant by caring for what is on the outside. The fact that you don't understand it, admitted so, and then proceeded to post what you posted is why you have me in your face.

rest easy, your grandmother is with you just as God is with you. smiling, and in a happy place. Someday you'll see her again and embrace her as you once have done in the living. And there will be others there to greet you, and those before you will come eventually.

This basically eliminates the ‘Christian guilt’ used by the church to compel you to comply. I’m grateful that I watched this. SO many of us disregard this intrinsic knowledge of oneness with God and allow ourselves to feel desperate and alone. It’s a beautiful thing to know I’m basically sitting in the pocket of God. I’m NEVER alone, I’m just a very small piece of the Divine.
No wonder they left this out of the Bible, it contradicts the ‘follow the rules or else’ philosophy. It’s easier to make you follow the rules if you’re afraid.
    Peace to everyone!
    Be blessed 🙏❤️

As many a follower of Robert Sepehr's work, I have loved learning about the wide range of topics he delves into. He constantly challenges our previously held ideas and beliefs about what we have been taught about our collective human history. Personally, I find the Gospel of Thomas to be the most powerful and profound video that he has released to date. The threads of teachings by Jesus, Buddha and Krishna transcend time and space, intricately weaving together a rich tapestry of knowledge and wisdom that all of humanity can inherit and benefit from. Thank you, Robert.

    Ooo what a lovely surprise!
    My favourite!
This lost Gospel completely changed my life!
When I was 19 I had a few hours to kill and ended up in a library and found the Gospel of Thomas.
I had come to a cross road in my life and had to detach from the "church"
And reprogram my mind from doctrine so as to be able to accept the true teachings of Jesus.
I am so glad I found the quote.
" Only when you are true to yourself, only then will you become known to God."
It set me free on a wonderful journey into "knowing wisdom" rather than reading it.

TooLegit ToQuit Not really. It’s a different way of understanding life. Have you read any of the Talmud and it’s endless petty rules and focus on perversions? Once you read that you will understand Jesus revulsion of their laws which permit tremendous sin against most of humanity and especially children. Without that understanding you will not comprehend the necessity of obtaining morality and especially truth in a gnostic manner. Laws of man ultimately permit great evil. Get back to me after you’ve studied it.
Nobody can pay for your sins. It’s impossible. Redemption comes from within and is sparked by the awareness of the creator. Just living in a way that reflects the beauty and truth of unselfish love of our creator and love and nourishment of what he has given us is the true path. Following Jesus is more than worshipping him.

The very last verse of the Gospel of John says: "There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written." It's not that books were removed, it's simply that there were so many texts in existence that in order to compile "the Bible" as it is known now the Greeks had to make some choices. The Old Testament was already decided centuries beforehand, and the canonical New Testament books were chosen as such: They had to be traced back to one of the disciples of Jesus, they had to be written in Greek, and of course they made some arbitrary choices too. The Shepard of Hermas and the Diatesseron are some examples of ones that got left out probably because of the disciple issue, but you can still read them. The Gospel of Thomas seems to have been associated with followers of James (see saying #12), and it probably got left out because it was popular among Manicheans.

Any writings that illustrate the 'human nature' of Jesus is condemned by the Church. His quite human love of his favorite disciple whom "he loved more than the others" and Leonardo painted in the Last Supper...Mary Magdalene. Jesus never said he was the 'Son of God'. That is strictly Church doctrine. He did say numerous times he was the 'son of man' however. And where was Jesus between the ages of 13 and 30? No accounting of him for those 17 'missing' years. He was not known as "The Great Traveler" for no reason. He learned his 'revolutionary ideas' from his sojourn to the East and India where he became known as 'The Great Traveler' only to communicate 'universal love' to everyone which made him some powerful enemies back in the Levant when he returned and met 'The Baptist'.

That’s the time when the 12 year old Jesus was in the temple courts of Jerusalem amazing his teachers with his knowledge of the Scriptures. You can read about it in Luke 2:41-52. The account ends in an interesting way. God tells us that the boy Jesus did not remain in Jerusalem in the temple. Instead he was obedient to his earthly parents and went back with them to his hometown of Nazareth. There in Nazareth, from age 12 to 30, “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

As far as we know, the apostle Thomas never wrote a Gospel. The writing to which you refer is spurious and was composed by a member of a gnostic sect, probably in the late second century, which explains why it’s not in the Bible. It was discovered, along with many other writings, in 1946 near the village of Nag Hammadi in Egypt. Our version comes to us in Coptic, but there seems to have been a Greek original behind it.
The so-called Gospel of Thomas really isn’t a Gospel at all, but a collection of 114 sayings or logia attributed to Jesus. Approximately one-fourth of these sayings are the same as those found in the canonical Gospels. Of the remainder, some are very similar to those in our Gospels, but have been adapted for gnostic purposes. Others are completely gnostic in origin and form.
While the Gospel of Thomas purports to have been written by the apostle, there’s nothing to support this, and there’s a great deal that argues against it. To mention only one example (and this example applies to gnostic writings in general), the milieu is all wrong. The peculiar sayings attributed to Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas are, for the most part, light-years away from the kind of thing a Jewish rabbi would have said in the Palestine of A.D. 30. Contrast this with the very Jewish flavor of Jesus’ words found in the canonical Gospels.
For this reason alone, we’re forced to conclude that the Gospel of Thomas doesn’t compare with the canonical Gospels when it comes to telling us what Jesus really taught.

Children who have been sexually abused by said preachers within all Christian denominations. Then those same preachers were FORGIVEN and allowed to continue working within the religious community. " Contrast this with the very Jewish flavor of Jesus’ words found in the canonical Gospels " well I wonder why they sound so much a like when the canonical gospels were being regulated by the mainstream Christianity at that time. I would say the early church fathers missed the mark on what Jesus's vision for humanity and how one ought to live their life should be. This is what led to many of the reformations and schisms later on.

At 63 now and raised in the Catholic Church by nuns, Marists and for a painfully brief time, Jesuits, I have had two amazing revelations in the past twenty years. The first was studying the teachings of Mary Magdalene. Christ gave Mary Magdalene a teaching that he did not give the other apostles. After Christ died, Mary told the other Apostles that Christ had revealed a message to her that He had not revealed to the others. They didn't believe her, but finally Peter told them to listen to her.
She said Christs message to her was not about Original sin or salvation or redemption or resurrection. She said His message to her was, 'teach others how to TEACH Enlightenment'. This is very much in line with the Gospel of Thomas. The modern day Churches have all strayed from the true teachings of Christ. All major religions have diminished the role of women as equals in teaching the Word of God. Therefore all major religions have been living a lie for centuries upon centuries.
The second revelation was just a few years ago. It had to do with God's Covenant to man. The First Covenant was the Ten Commandments. A strict code of behavior. More likely a set of guidelines that Moses was inspired to record to facilitate moving a large group of people through the desert peacefully without them killing each other. The Second Covenant was much more basic and much more universally relevant. It was not a strict code of 'thou shalt not'. It was simply the message of LOVE. The WORD is LOVE! The Living Christ is still very much among us.
    Great job, Robert. Thank you.

THIS is my kind of Jesus. I've been saying for years he is more like a Buddha to me. We are ALL Jesus Christ. The kingdom of heaven is within EVERYONE.

This is the closest to the truth about the original message I've heard to date. Bless you and your work, Robert. You are a mind opener😊💚

You are incredible, I love seeing how all religions converge into one. Only if people are as smart and knowledgeable as you, we wouldn’t have so much conflict in the world.
    Thank you !!

I regret Nietzsche didn't live long enough to experience and comment on this find. His beautiful guesstimate of the real character of Jesus in 'The Antichrist' resonates with this Gospel.

I bet this guy considers the day he read the gospel of Thomas to be the most significant greatest moment of his entire life, he seemed pretty excited about it.
