Good review on a really nice mount. I personally don't see the ipolar setup on this mount as a negative since i would have a computer for imagining . Keep the reviews coming.

Nice sharing about your experience with C8 atop the CEM40. I aware you also have C9.25 and C11 from another video, wonder if you have tried C11 with CEM40. On paper, it has enough capacity.

Here in China market, only 1.75 inch tripod or the heavy duty tri-pier are available with CEM40. Seems like US market still offer 1.5 inch tripod somehow.

Hi Mike, nice channel you have, great info. Let me ask you, would you have a little time to help a first timer connect this CEM40 mount? I am pulling me hair out and long story but Ioptron isn’t being very helpful. If you could spare anytime, that would be incredible. Thanks so much, Chad

When I look at the CEM40 it states it comes with a tripod with 1.75 inch legs. Where did you see another number? Can you give me a link that shows the 2-inch tripod legs?

Great video intro! Thought the movie Alien was about to start!!
Of course I also enjoyed the informative video.
I'm very interested in this mount, so I'm glad I came across your video.
So, you're a believer that, even with iOptron, for imaging one should use the '50% reliance factor' on the realistic load capacity. So, for clarification, if you would, you see this mount supporting my 9.25" Edge, camera & Hyperstar as a problem.......that even just the Edge 8" is a push?! Did I understand you correctly?
Or, were you (also?) emphasizing that the issue was more the inadequate tripod size?
You touched on the 2", but do you think [cost aside], that the tri-pier would resolve your concern?
I know this vid is a couple of months old, but hopefull, since you've handled this mount and saw it all first hand, you can help me out here. Please let me know at your earliest opportunity.
    Very much appreciated,

Thank you for checking the Video Out Al. I would say the mount head could work with en Edge 9.25 but only with a solid tripod like the TriPier. The mount that I had received to test had a 1.5inch tripod which I dont recommend using with an SCT. I didnt feel it was solid enough. But if you can get a 2inch or run it with the TriPier then it should work just fine.

Mike, so thanks for taking the time and for doing it so quickly!
      That’s great news!!
Now, I have club members trying to convince me that the 120 is the way to go (cost aside 🙄). Especially, since I have an observatory and setup/tear-down is a non-issue.
Have you had an opp to check their big boy out yet?
It looks stunning in the videos....but, it’s like the ‘last mount’ I’d buy....with its tracking and payload capability.
If you can share, please do!

@@almercado1650 Well I will say Im all about buying the best mount 1 time and being done with it. That would probably be the last mount you will buy. I havent had the chance to work with it. But I think Ioptron makes really good stuff. So Im sure it is amazing! - Let me know if and when you get it. Maybe you can share on the channel your experience! :)

Did you find out what chipset is needed to connect the hand controller to computer via USB to rs232?

    • @asteroidhunters6628

Hello Brandon... This is now listed Ioptron website. It uses the FTDI chipset. I had bought a similar one of these cables on amazon with that chipset but it didnt work. I recommend the one from Ioptron.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll order one and hopefully have it all figured out...Also I have my GPS hooked up and it’s indicated (or at least I believe it to be) on and all set up but every time I try and get my coordinates from my mount it will not pull them up and reads an error message “Failed to get latitude and longitude from mount!” Any tips or suggestions ?

@@brandondicorpo1995 Thats odd. Does the GPS light up when you plug it into the mount? Also is your mount communicating with your PC? I will say Ioptron has great customer service. You can call them at 1-866-399-4587. You'll want to make sure you have the latest firmware and software for the CEM40 from there site.

Asteroid Hunters Yes oddly enough the GPS lights up when I turn it on, but no I do not have any control of the mount through the computer. I have no problems with opening and using all the functions in Ipolar but when I try and pull my latitude and longitude it won’t for some reason. I emailed their support team so hoping to hear back soon!
As far as the firmware I did not update anything for I figured everything came updated. I simply followed your videos to get everything to where I am but the only problem I am having is pulling the coordinates of the gps and obviously mount control (but that I will soon fix with IOptrons USB to RS232 Converter) and again thank you for your time and support !
