Hi. Great gear swaps, thank you for posting regularly. 2 recommendations to make even better please: 1. Please flip the gear when the music is in the SAME sections. Flipping to the Bryston for example AT THE MOMENT THE SONG BREAKS DOWN does not let us evaluate it easily versus the Technics. Better to flip in the MIDDLE of choruses and verses and bridges to improve comparisons. 2. You’ve gotten better at showing closeups of the gear we’re listening to, but when you have wide shots, please KEEP THE GRAPHICS INDICATING THE ACTIVE GEAR ON. It would help those of us who are clicking across the video timeline for comparisons to know what we’re actually hearing during a wide shot. Thank you so much!

I haver the Technics SUG700mk2 ... the baby brother ... these amplifiers run absolutely dead silent, it's almost creepy how there is ZERO noise, just the notes coming from complete darkness.
This is yet another tough one ! From what I heard differences are minute and subtle. Technics probably has more air in the upper range and Pass/Bryston combo probably has more mass to the female voice ! But, as I said, the differences are not night and day and succumb to subjective hearing abilities and personal preferences ! Yet another excelllent video !!!
Hello AlphaAudio team, it could come down to my personal playback gear listening to this video but both setups are or seem to be equal in playback quality. The Technics is wonderful and an elegant one box solution. Thanks again, stay safe. Brian
@@nnnnnn3647 I disagree. But I only came to the above conclusion in the last track. Otherwise, I would have agreed with your summation, that the differences are so minute, that only Superman with his super hearing could probably notice the difference. One difference that you can't escape is the price. In the UK you're looking at £6,000 for the Technics and more than double that for the Pass Labs/Bryston pre/power. And for all the talk of pre/power superiority ... it didn't prove itself here … not for me! I'll take the Technics!
I would not have thought that the Top Technics integrated could perform like this. Equalling mostly but more air in the treble I thought. I like the Technics, but you know what they say, "don't put all your eggs in the same basket". I have all separates and was thinking about upgrading my Quad Artera Stereo to a Bryston power amp, but the sound of that Technics? very very tempting to go down that path. Incidentally, I have seen refurbished SU-R1000 on Ebay for £5400, £4000 off RRP with a years Panasonic warranty. Tempting. But, I'd have to ditch my lovely Quad Artera Stereo. I'd maybe P/Ex for the Bryston which was a hair's difference (but noticable) against the Technics, but now I've heard the capabilities of the SU-R1000, I'll not risk blowing another £4000 on a fabulously performing but very electronically complex Technics which relies on a load of electronics wizardry to achieve (which it does) an incredible performance. If I could afford to lose £9000 without worrying, which I can't, I'd buy a new Technics SU-R1000 with no hesitation, it was that good.
It is hard to tell via UA-cam which one is better, but i can hear Technics sounds different. Pass and Bryston sound very similar to my ear. I have tried to close eyes to try to objectively judge and Technics came out as a winner. Perhaps my ears are just used to Technics sound. But it sounds so much more detailed to me.
Too perfect of a video and mostly that scentilizing audio sound quality. Addictive if it were possible to hear it in person and try some of my music quality to possibly might hear my flaw in my recordings on my hard drive for fun. Melting away of the ears on my headphones.
+I own the sug700 its baby brother they look the same and many of the features on this one are on the sug700 at a fraction of the price it sounds sweet down side only 70 watts aside but has lots of headroom.
Another great video. Thank you. And you what do you think about of these amplifiers? Just an another question among all the amplifiers tested on the sopra 1 loudspeakers, which one gave the best result? Thank you.
I can't speak for other people. I like the Bryston 4b as an allrounder. But you may like another because you could like a more open sound. Then the Pass int25 could work...
Hmmm well swapping back and forth like this I can see how many could think the Technics sounds better. It's treble and upper midrange seems to be bumped a good margin presenting itself in quick fashion more airy and detailed. However sit down for a two or three hour listening session and something tells me I would want to rip my ears off and toss that thing out the window. I woundnt call a Bryston/Pass combo warm by any means but I felt long term I would probably be happier with the less lively yet more muscular sound of the Bryston. Also the female voice in the second song sounded far more realistic to my ears in the Bryston. Again with bumped treble your going to get a sense of speed and detail but her voice sounded more processed than natural to me on the technics. Just my thoughts.
@@nickelbut10 You're absolutely spot on in your analysis, and I say this having listened to the Technics in real life. Definitely sounded unnatural to me and with an hard edge on voices.
bryston has a little more slam and punch and attack, technics better bass definition of instrument-layering instruments, but which one has better soundstage and image difficult to say
Question: did you use the DAC of the Technics, or is it analogue in from the Metrum? I'd love to hear this Technics against a NAD M33. I'm amazed at how 'organic' the Technics sounds. It is a bit muffled in the bass of the Little fuge, but the mids are incredible. And the Technics wins for the VU-meters-in-a-fishtank look!

Thank you so much for this. Can you do more of comparison between SU-R1000 and others, please? Rock and Heavy Metal if possible... Is it possible to include a test on some big floorstanders as well?
Rock and Heavy Metal sounds best on a broken speaker. In fact a flawed amp once became the signature sound of a whole genre. So why would anybody want to test a high resolving and clear sounding machine like the technics with that kind of music ? Enjoy your rock on your grandma s radio. It will sound just as good if not better 😂
@@elderinmoi1571 That's not true. Having tried Metal on an IcePower amp vs a Purifi one made clear that the Ice was clearly inferior. It sounded painful with that amp, while the Purifi made it much more pleasant.

@@TheAlphaAudio Reclocker is a aditional path lemght and aditional connection points. I do not recommend it if not nesesary for example straight from Personal Computer.
