When you replace the hot air unit with an electric, you need to plug the vent port on the carburetor, that's open inside the choke housing.

He has one wire to supply power. The rest are vacuum lines! One for the distributor, trans, breaks and that’s pretty much it. There is also one for positive crank but it’s unnecessary

The electric choke does not need power to turn on but it needs power to shut off.
