      Hi Matt,
      So glad to hear my videos have proven helpful to you. Quadrajet carburetors are amazing and work very well when tuned properly, so take your time, make sure all passages and tubes are super clean, replace whatever is necessary, and your Vette will run great, and you may even see some fuel economy as a bonus. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and I'll try to answer what I can: diy76vette@gmail.com

    I have an original quadrajet in my 1980 L48.. Is this the same carb as in your videos? These are the best step by step videos I've ever seen 👍 especially for a carb novice like myself... Much appreciated sir.

      Hi Sonny,
      and thank you for the kind words.
      Glad to hear the videos have proven helpful.
      1980 Qjets were basically identical but they added the Computer Command Control on a lot of vehicles for better main metering. The secondaries, however, were the same.
      So if yours has an E4M carb, then it would have an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system plus the electronic throttle position sensor which eliminated the need for a vacuum power piston and the Adjustable Part Throttle APT system.
      I’ve never rebuilt one of them but I think the guys at quadrajetpower.com/ have one or two videos on those. Best of luck!

    I just did a rebuild on my Rochester Quadrajet and I thought everything was perfect. Car starts but after 15 seconds it stalls (same results after three tries). It's getting gas, spark, compression. What's your thoughts?

    • @76vette
      @76vette  Рік тому

      Impossible to tell without looking at it, but it sounds like fuel starvation.
      Is the fuel filter installed correctly? How about the gaskets? Does it keep running if you give it gas? Have a pro look at it to determine exactly what’s causing the issue. Good luck! 😊👍🏻

    • @76vette
      @76vette  Рік тому

      @@inell6 The little valve in the fuel filter is to help keep fuel in the carb. The needle clip is really unnecessary (I install it sometimes, and sometimes I’ve left it out) fuel pressure will force fuel past the needle and into the bowl.

    How come you didnt place the metal hanger onto the needle that goes at the end of the float? Looks like you want the needle to stay in the brass sleeve. Is that so the gas doesnt go back out of the carb when sitting for a few weeks

      Yes! I made it out of s small piece of flat aluminum stock, polished it, and installed it.

      @@76vette my problem is when I'm at part throttle my car sounds like it has a monster cam in it. But at idle does great at WOT does great just when pulling in 1st gear in my driveway whop whop whop like a helicopter Chopin trees looking for trees lol 😆. Never had a quad do this before. Never ever. At screw maybe. It doesn't smoke nothing just sounds like it's cammed to death. I have it turned from seat out 3 turns. Idk 🤷‍♂️ I'm stumped

    • @jasonbeason4780

      @@76vette yep the part throttle is 3 turns out. Starts the ruff idle when pulling the driveway at a higher rpm. I have a 288 480 cam In a 350 with flat top pistons and factory 882 heads. 2200 stall for a 700r4. I have the plug for the apt knocked out tapped and a treaded plug in there. Carburetor has had a modification kit I installed from quadrajet power. They put this kit after I told them my engine built sheet specs. Just when I get to around the stall converter lock up rpm is when the car acts like its missing. Car doesn't jerk or nothing it just doesn't make since. The blop blop like a huge cam is in it. At lidle sounds great. But this cam says it starts power ant 2 to 5 thousand rpm. I really don't know. Waiting on a part idle wrench so maybe it needs a fine tune. If I got to shut the chocked butterfly it starts flooding. That's the only time it smokes. Starts up very snappy. Like no hesitation on the fire up.

    • @76vette
      @76vette  Рік тому

      Very strange because AFAIK, none of carburetor screws go into areas where gasoline passes through, so it’s impossible for them to wick gas out. My guess is that it is leaking from somewhere else and most likely the result of a warped air horn.
      Good luck. I hope you can get it repaired properly. 😊👍🏻
