I went to Michigan a month ago but had a spare day and went looking at that same total wine. Good spot and got an Old Ezra 7 and probably one of my favorite bottles of the year
I'm back in the Detroit area every 2 months. The liquor prices are extremely overpriced. I can drive down I-75 towards Cincinnati and go across the river into Kentucky and cut 60.00 to 80.00 dollars off those prices you're showing for the high end Bourbons.
A lot of store in the Detroit Metro area don’t mark the price of their allocated bottles. I feel the same way, just put the price on the bottle even if it’s way over state min.
My wife is from Detroit. We’re going up there next month. Looking forward to bringing home some McKenna 10, ECBP and Larceny BP at a reasonable price. For some reason those are outrageously expensive and rare down in Houston. Unless you get lucky and find it in a total wine which lasts like 30 minutes tops… you’ll pay through the nose for those bottles at a mom and pop.
Any idea approximately when the barrel selection would happen? I'm in FL but I might consider driving for something as cool as that..but obviously timing would matter. Love your videos...just started watching a month ago and went back a ways...the videos have a clear trajectory of getting better all the time.
I’m from the area and visit once per year. Just knew you would find nothing but overpriced stuff at the hood liquor stores. There is one place in the North End neighborhood that sells Eagle Rare for $50, but everything else is 2-3x MSRP. $269 Blanton’s all over the metro area, lol.
Love me some A&B Store picks! They do a secret Santa at the holidays where they hide big time allocated bottles from the year that they have collected and gives average joes like ma a chance to stop in and find something special. A&B where "Every day is a good Day"!!
the prices dont get displayed on allocated products cause brands like sazerac have market reps that go into to stores to pitch products and special deals as well as display items etc. if they see you sell above a certain percentage over msrp, you are blacklisted from getting allocated products from them ever again. While not technically legal, being that the products are allocated its very easy for nothing to ever be available for that store ever again. if you ever see allocated products with no price, dont bother asking. They will gouge you.
I'm from mid michigan, Detroit area stores have more good stuff than we have, stores in the suburbs have a good selection but Pricey 👍😉🥃 Cheers

Yeah, same here in KY
You were in Michigan. You showed a couple of Michigan made whiskeys. You should have talked more about them, maybe visited one of the distilleries.
Great hunting video 👍

Thanks! The Indiegogo campaigns will end in 18 days. Then we probably wait 3 weeks to get a spot for selection. Then a month after we get the bottles
