Thank you soo much for this reaction. You two beautiful men understood the real meaning of this movie. I enjoyed watching your reaction and seeing the emotions you had during this fantastic movie.
The Samurai have no fear of death. As a matter of fact, a Samurai was judged not on how skilled they were, but how willing they were to die for their master.
Maybe "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" (2000)? A great movie and visually stunning
I’m so happy to have found your channel! Your reactions and empathy to diverse cultures and beliefs is both inspiring and heartwarming. Blessings on you both!
Fantastic reaction. Dances with Wolves would be another excellent choice for them.
in a next film you can introduce them to Native American Indians.
The Last of the Mohicans (1992) is a good introduction, or Dances with Wolves (1990)
I agree, Last of the Mohicans is a beautifully compelling piece of cinematic art.
This reaction makes me wish I could see them react to The 13th Warrior, starring Antonio Banderas. It's a film based on an extremely fictionalized version of the travels of the famed 10th century Islamic poet Ahmad ibn Fadlan into the realm of the Vikings/Norse/Scandinavia. A fun, largely under-appreciate movie from the late 90's.
The 13th Warrior is one of my favorite movies, I would love to see their reaction to it. The book it is based on, Eaters of the Dead by Michael Crichton, is a great read that has a fascinating story behind it.
Great movie, would be perfect for this channel
I call that movie Vikings vs. Neanderthals, and I love it. ;)
13th warrior loosely based on Beowulf story and imo is the best movie to do it. I love how much the protagonist is not the greatest warrior but some one thrust into circumstances but rises to the occasion earning the respect of his companions. He learns to respect them and their traditions as well.
Varangian Rus, not the Vikings per se.
These two guys are great!
As the historical 300 v thousands of persian empire battle was mentioned in this movie, can we see them watch the movie about this battle??
It's called -300.
Great movie, great action and battle scenes and based on a true story. Please
300 is based on the Frank Miller graphic novel
While a great movie and still worth watching it should be noted (to them) that the movie is losely based on a comic and that that comic is losely based on the true story.
@@Tconl I knew this. Frank also did Sin City. Both comic and movie!
This is amazing movie, wich was a start of my love to Japanese culture. I'm not very keen on Hollywood historical movies, but this one is a masterpiece and very special for me, even it has a lot of historical mistakes, which were made for more dramatic vision. I think they should watch Ghibli animation movies
As with Gladiator, the story itself is fictional, but it does have some historical validity. The end of the Tokogawa Shogunate with the success of the Meiji revolution really did see swords outlawed, and Samurai lose their traditional place in society. And there really was a rebellion (called the Satsuma Rebellion) of disaffected samurai. Although their ambitions were less about "freedom from tyranny" and more "we want to be the ones in charge again!"
The rebellion effectively ended the samurai class in Japan, because they were soundly defeated by the modern Imperial army (although it's inaccurate that the samurai were using bows and swords. Samurai had been using muskets for centuries at that point). They had both firearms and even artillery, but they just couldn't compete with a modern army in terms of supplies, numbers and logistics.
The Satsumas had about 12'000 men. The Imperial army had over 70'000.
Yea agreed! I saw the documentary the Samurai were actually the bad guys who wanted to keep the Caste systems keeping themselves in power and others as peasants. But it was the Japanese government that wanted to level the playing field and be like western nations where everyone is on the same learning curve. They tried so hard to be Western and hang with the cool white boys that they even aided the Allies in world war 1 with military forces. But they got shafted at the Treaty of Versailles that all the allies came out ahead except them. Imagine if they got treated right they wouldn't of been part of the Axis the 2nd time around but then again they were going to Invade China sooner or later so maybe its in their cards to always have been the "Bad guy" in that war.
0:00 Please show them 300 (2006) war movie with Gerard Butler. Omen (1976) classic horror movie with Gregory Peck. Psycho (1960) classic thriller mystery with Anthony Perkins. Gandhi (1982) classic biographical drama based in india with Ben Kingsley.
Such a great movie with such an equal reaction, if they hadnt yet, maybe another legendary war movie would be 300 that tells the fight of 300 spartans against a million enemies, with great filming.
this is becoming one of my favorite channels to watch
I love how on 13:33, they say they love the Japan culture and how they emphasize health and cleanliness. You should show them a video on how Japanese culture today still do that in school teachings and at home
yes, the Children in Japan come to school on Saturday , they clean all the Floors of the classrooms , they clean the Gym & restrooms. they take the Gym mats and put them in the sun and beat them with a stick.
this wouldn't fly in the USA.
yet the Japanese eat pork and other things not halal to certain Muslim groups. plus sushi when introduced or other raw items they would find disgusting in concept
As Katsumoto died, he realized he was free of the ego's need to judge and then realized every petal is perfect in it's own way and he was able to find beauty in everything and everyone!
You are projecting your presumptions, I doubt the writer intended that his view would change at all, rather that he simply expressed an (incorrect but historically realistic) opinion he had long held to try to help the other man's perspective before he died.
@@friartalk6060 Really? I'm torn between the two. I don't think he was trying to appease Algrin in this moment. I think he finally realized that his quest to find perfection was a futile one.
In his final moments he realised that there is no 'imperfect petal'...everything in life is precious. His final wisdom before death seems to ease his suffering. One of the many subtle things that elevate this movie.
😂
"You believe a man can change hist destiny?"
"I think a man does what he can, until his destiny is revealed to him."
I believe these are words that any person from any faith can believe.
Great reaction! I hope they see more historical or mythical historical movies, like The Patriot (2000), Last of the Mohicans (1992), Troy (2004), The Untouchables (1987) and Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves (1991).
Or: The Last King of Scotland (2006), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), or Spartacus (1960)
Don't forget Taegukgi!
@@mohdnizamabdulrahman741 Yes! It's underrated. Very few have watched it or even heard of it, but it's one of the best war movies out there
⭐⭐⭐Please!! I would love to see them react to the movie series of Mission Impossible, and eventually Top Gun, all starring Tom Cruise.
Naveed and Monsoor are the best movie reactors on youtube. ❤
I agree but I want.. top gun or edge of tomorrow
Oh...they need to see some other Tom Cruise movies now. Top Gun, Mission Impossible, A Few Good Men...etc.
At the end there was only one place to go and that was back to that beautiful Japanese woman, they mentioned the story of the 300 Spartans now that's a movie they should react to.
Loved this movie and remember having to write about it in my English class. I was shocked when I learned almost none of my classmates saw this wonderful movie and almost everyone of them loved it after watching it.
The Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow would be a great companion piece to this movie. I think they would really enjoy it 👍🏽
All You Need Is Kill
Definitely.. or start with both top guns
This was a great movie review, please show them " War of the Worlds" and Mission impossible " with Tom Cruise. 😊
Also, I believe they would enjoy watching" DRIVING MS DAISY " staring Morgan Freeman because it's an emotional
feel good movie!!!!! 😊
It's time for some comedy movies with popcorn guys!!! ☺️
When I saw the title of the movie, in my mind I was screaming, "EEEEEEEEEEEEE!" in excitement. 🤩 A *great* movie. And the guys came to understand the samurai as the captain did. The movie itself reminds me of several famous samurai movies from Japan; the director made a great tribute to them. If you can find them dubbed, there are a special three you should show them: The Seven Samurai, plus Yojimbo and its sequel, Sanjuro. All three star one of the greatest Japanese actors ever, Toshiro Mifune. He plays a supporting role in the 7 Samurai, then stars in the other two. An amazing man.
I loved their reactions! They understood that the soldiers after the first training weren't ready, but a little bit of history might be interesting. The samurai as a class weren't the official aristocrats, but the high-up ones were effectively the rulers of Japan for several centuries. The top-ranked was called the Shogun, and though theoretically serving the Emperor, that was a poite fiction. The shogun was the military commander in chief, and as such, controlled all the power. The Emperor was, indeed, a puppet. That's why the Emperor didn't assert himself much until the end. There was a great change going on in the politics of the times, and the samurai were being thrown out of power. But the court officials and the new modern military pretty much took over the role of the samurai. The Emperor did get more power, but he still wasn't that much of a direct ruler. He was a divinity, and insulated from much of the real maneuvering. This one was determined to bring Japan into to modern times, though.
Anyway, much of the army would have been recruited - or conscripted - from the peasantry. While peasants did get used as soldiers in samurai wars, they were still common people. Samurai could basically do as they wished with them. A peasant who disobeyed samurai could be killed, no questions asked. So the soldiers, only partly trained, and mostly not used to do anything against a samurai's will, would have pretty much been terrified about having to face samurai in battle. A samurai's whole reason to exist was to fight and die for his lord. They trained their whole lives, as the two little boys were doing. Fighting fellow peasant solders was one thing. Soldiers against samurai was quite another.
Tom Cruise has many powerful movies. Looking forward for you to enjoy them.
Now they must see 300 of course. A cinematic interpretation of the battle of Thermopolis
Loved this one! Great movie, great reaction! They would enjoy Dances with Wolves too I think.
YEP, "Dances with Wolves" would really be fun for them.
These guys have to see more Tom cruise movies! Show them top gun next!
The beauty of Tom Cruise indeed. 😊
Hope they get to watch his other movies: War of the Worlds, Edge of Tomorrow, Mission Impossible, etc.
I think the sci-fi action of the first 2 will be very much enjoyed by them. ❤
I recall watching this in cinemas when it was first released!
They seem to be interested in samurai and Japanese culture. I recommend them watching Seven Samurai.
I think you both would love the movie Dances With Wolves, it's an absolutely incredible movie.
the real life last samurai was frenchman called Jules Brunet who served the Tokugawa shogunate during the Boshin War
the men in the black were NINJA and they hated the Samauri. the ninja's were like ghost and feared more than the samauri even though the samauri were the first worriers
You must do Mission Impossible and Bourne movies
Of course it was filmed in New Zealand where they filmed the Lord of the Rings!
i think the next movie that u should show them is "300" as they say in 32:01 or the movie "47 ronin"
Last of the Mohicans is the natural step from this movie now
Also filmed in beautiful New Zealand. Home of Lord of the rings.
Amazing reaction, it was a pleasure watching it!
Great movie and introduction to some of Japan's culture and history as well as Tom Cruise, important name for cinephiles to know.
I recommend you guys show them Grave of the Fireflies, which was made by the Japanese and one of the most profound and emotional movies made about the tragedy of war. It'll be a unique experience for them seeing both an eastern film and a 2D animated film. The movie is known for being one of the most depressing movies of all time but there's a powerful message and as cinephiles I think they'll get a lot out of it.
Yes please. I've seen both anime version and live action and I loved both.
They are all perfect.
Naveed's intuition astounds me.
Another timeless & excellent movie choice. Plus a great differentiated reaction by those two gentlemen.
I liked how they showed their emotions as well.
when ya like crazy tom maybe its time for "war of the worlds"
for me, one of the best films with him
Tom Cruise is one of the best actors and movie stars America has ever had. He has proven himself time and time again with every role and yes,he is also beautiful!😊That's all that should matter, his personal beliefs and life shouldn't matter so much to people. I grew up with him in the 80s and I have a lot of respect for him as an actor.
I love Tom Cruise movies. He is such an amazing actor.
I’d love our guys to react to Tom Cruise in Few Good Men.
As for Asia/ Japan related movies, Empire of the sun, the Last Emperor, and Grave of the fireflies please.
"Bro, Tom Cruise is so handsome....he's stylish"
This isn't my favorite movie, but I gotta hand it to em.
Wow im impressed by these 2. they understand without knowing the japanese culture. ill be definitely be watching this channel more
edit: lets get them to watch 300
A good story teaches. In fact, the Japanese celebrate a 'Tom Cruise Day' because many are grateful that this movie reminded their young generation about the 'Bushido' traditions of the past.
@@philproffitt8363 I read something recently about the respect that Tom Cruise receives in Japan.
If a samurai's head is cut from his body, he should still be able to perform one move with certainty. The code of Bushido is fascinating.
There is a old movie that has a similar concept to this movie that I think would be a great movie to react to, but it is with Native Americans...the movie is " A Man Called Horse "...you might be the first to react because I don't think anyone else has reacted to it yet👍
Or Soldier Blue.
The must see Tom Cruise in Top Gun And Top Gun Maverick and the 2 300 movies
I saw this movie years ago, but it was so good to watch it again, and to see your reactions. Thank you for sharing.
Now that they have been introduced to Tom Cruise they should watch the Top Gun movies
Please watch 'Hacksaw Ridge'. I believe you will like it.
Watch "Far and away " another great Tom Cruise movie
The 300 Spartans are mentioned in this movie. Might be a good movie for them to watch next.
11:33 that is called Sepuku or ritual self killing. It was believed that it was honorable to endure a painful death in defeat if you did it willingly and to prove you were pure. If you were well liked, a friend would assist you by beheading you and sparring you the long and painful death.
My favourite warriors of all time, if I could go back to any time frame in the past it would indeed be this
Tom Cruise really looks good in each movie
Excellent work my new friends.
Maybe you know that this movie was inspired from a true story. But maybe a thing you don't know about is that the last samurai weren't american... But french. Et oui 😊🇫🇷
The last samurai refers to Matsumoto in the movie not Tom cruise character.
Good movie choice. Perhaps another Tom Cruise movie ... Top Gun Maverick. Or a mission impossible series.
Loved the reaction. You have done 2 of my 3 favorite movies about the past. The next should be Braveheart to finish the trifecta!
This is my first time watching your channel and I am glad I did. You both understand and appreciate the beauty of honor and respect for other cultures and humanity. You are both wise. I am a subscriber now. May God continue to bless you!
You two are wonderful, adorable!
A fantastic choice and it was enjoyable to watch them become immersed in these cultures.
Another great reaction. They should check out a movie that talks about Moses and his life called The Prince of Egypt.
I agree. I've been wanting them to react to the Prince of Egypt, a movie that portrays a period of time of great importance to several faiths.
Have them watch The Matrix
Give them a good comedy next time.
More Tom Cruise movies! 🙂
This was a great movie to watch
What a fantastic reaction! You guys were 100% emotionally invested into the story and it made for some truly enjoyable, thoughtful, and genuine commentary!! You’re also very compassionate, respectful, and well articulated with your comments. 2 good souls here on this channel! 🙂👍🏼🙌🏼
Oh man, only just scratching the surface with Tom Cruise here haha. As they have been liking war films, maybe they would enjoy Cruise’s performance in Born on the Fourth of July 🍿
Definitely!
The Seppuku or Suicide Ritual its a permanence of a failed honor or failure of the objectives, values or principles of you as a person, in terms of the precepts of Bushido or samurai Faith. You cut your own belly to experiment the most highly pain, and someone close to you, someone who respect you, cut-off your head to cease the pain and suffer.
it is also to prevent being captured.
Great reaction! It is very interesting to see your joint reaction to the film Real Steel. This is a cool movie 👍🔥
What is your name?...Tom Cruise 😂😂😂
Lol
while based on history important details are going to be altered for various reasons some legit some not. its why someone should consider it entertainment and a motivator to learn. the Meiji Restoration was a fascinating period in Japanese history in how they managed to modernize but also go toe to toe with the West without becoming a colony or protectorate unlike many other regions of the world.
Indeed, the Meiji Restoration was driven by some Samurai clans, namely the Satsuma.
Among other aspects it was also a political power struggle between the young Tenno (the emperor) and the Shogunate.
Between reformers and those who wanted to maintain a feudal society.
With the Samurai running around openly armed with their swords and ready to kill everyone who they thought to be insulting towards them.
Of course there are many differences, but the samurai had to learn to become officials and civil servants or even early industrialists (like the Satsuma).
Just like the knights in European Medieval times more and more became ministeriales.
That guy on the left got one thing wrong...War isn't a competition...it doesn't have to be fair and equal...War is the law of nature, the strong will aniquilate the weak by all means necessary. After the combat you can show respect to your enemy's courage and warrior spirit...but only after the combat ends. That's how it is.
How about...Collateral, Dead Man's Shoes, Platoon, Dawn of the Dead, Total Recall, Christine, Napoleon Dynamite, The Warriors, Mad Max and Blade Runner.
1492 christophe colomb de ridley Scott aurait mérité plus d'intérêt.
You know whats funny about this, I know its my second comment. But I like watching war stuff so I been watching the Ukraine Russia war. To prove how dedicated they are to the way of the warrior still. I was watching a small interview on UA-cam of 3 older Japanese men that joined the Russians. When they were asked why did they not join the Ukrainians now they are branded as Traitors to Japan they responded "It is because we cannot go back which makes this decision a final decision. When they asked why they joined they said because they simply want a warriors death" Thats pretty dedicated to Bushido to me.
CinePhiles - Japanese Samurai armor is made of Tiles & Lacquer .
the Faceplate is made of Lacquer wood and sometimes IRON plate, Metal reinforced Wood.
every Samurai armor is Unique and made Specially for the Generals .
These events are in the years 1876 onward. The US soldiers would likely have fought in the US civil war (1861-1864).
0:55 - *American, english, scottish and japanese actors. Tom Cruise - American
Timothy Spall - English
Billy Connolly - Scottish
So, my point is simple, just because someone is a native speaker of english, doesn'tmake them american, or english, for that matter. And the same goes for aussies, kiwis, and the irish. 😉👍
Hardly, both are definitely not equal now. Algren is improving is all.
"Competitions should be equal."
Well... This is war, not a sport. In sport all you risk is not getting a trophy. In war you risk your very life. Why try to make it a fair fight for enemy combatants?
This was filmed in New Zealand with Mount Taranaki standing in for 'Mount Fuji
I wonder if they would enjoy seeing a movie about the Battle of Thermopylae next-- the movie 300, with Gerard Butler!
I beg you sir, that you present these gentlemen with the great 1940 film "The Thief of Bagdad". It is incredibly entertaining, and is possibly the most visually beautiful film ever made.
The last battle scenes reminds of playing Age of Empires
Now that they've heard the story of 300 from Tom Cruise, let them watch Zack Snyder's 300 then.
I have a suggestion. Try the movie: Casino Royale (2006).
Please react to The 300. Its based on the story mentioned here about the 300 men against the Persian army. Greece/Sparta. Very good film.
The movie 300 is a (very stylized! It's based on a comic book version of the story) version about the battle of Thermopylae they were talking about. It's very much an action movie and not so much a historical movie, but it is based on a historical event. And some of the witty comebacks are actually supposed to have been said at the actual event. Like at one point, the enemy with thousands of warriors says they will fire so many arrows they will block the sun. One of the 300 replies, "Then we will fight in the shade."
You guys should watch Hero with Jet Li. It is another moving story of redemption.
Actually this movies was filmed in New Zealand lol. As a Kiwi i felt duty-bound to point that out. But I'm sure the landscapes of Japan and NZ are quite similar
I wonder how these guys would like the movie 300 by Zack Snyder?
The movie setting is based on Satsuma Rebellion. During this time, Japan was on verge on modernization and the last of the samurai, thinking their services were no longer needed and their traditional ways would be forgotten, decides to rebel.
Great reaction, guys. I think we should do away with modern weapons and go back to the sword. Seems it would be much harder to take a man's life if you had to look him in the eye when you did it, maybe slow down some of the needless murder. But, I digress.
Thanks for the reaction and blessings on you both.✌️❤️
