Absolutely wrong villager Isabelle have a worse time with Lucas since he has more recovery mixups and a better reflector also better specials like pk freeze
@@mmmmgood7318 Villabelle can go under the whole stage as long as it has no walls, has a wall jump, slingshot to snuff out jumps, has I-frames with pocket and can use Nucas' projectiles against them. PK Freeze can be shielded or parried, rolled away from, jumped away from, reflected and obsorbed (not pocketed). Nucas, on the other hand, almost never is able to get under the entire stage, does not have a wall jump, has a very exploitable up special (all you have to do is recognize there's no other option but to use up-b, you'll rarely see an early one because of how unsafe we know it is), we have no moves to take jumps or force a recovery so long you are well spaced because Nucas has little to no range without side or neutral special. We have no landing options or mix-ups, other than laggy directional air-dodges, or easily shieldable and punishable PSY magnet. If you understand the matchup, Nucas < Villabelle.
@@Trinsid ness can't go under the stage but lucas can, pocketed projectiles can be absorbed and reflected(Ness can't reflect them due to its slower reflector), Lucas doesn't have a wall jump but he have a tether to mixup his recovery and his pk thunder travels more distance than ness so he can recover further (although is still exploitable xd), both can use b-reverse / wavebounce psi magnet mid-air to shift their momentum and mixup landings, although this brings more benefits to Lucas due to his better air mobility (Btw, his magnet is +0 on shield so is quite safe to shield pressure. Also he can do that with b-reverse / wavebounce pk fire as well) and Lucas can land with his fair that have low landing lag. Also we use pk freeze when the opponent is offstage so we can force a low recovery or a bad airdodge and punish with an aerial or pk freeze itself xd. I think, with equal matchup knowledge, Ness is in slight disadvantage and Lucas is even or slight disadvantage Sorry if my english looks broken, I didn't used a translator for this
@@fco92DS I agree with this, but I think the points I made reflect both characters. I agree that Lucas is better than Ness in this match up, but still, no amount of fancy tech can beat good spacing from a villager. Lucas can reflect faster than Ness but only slightly so - and a good Villabelle won't throw anything out worth reflecting or absorbing. Like in this video, all pockets were used as combo extenders or at a distance / time where it would be difficult to react. The one tool Lucas has over Ness that really make a difference is PK Fire, as Lucas can use it to zone and camp while Ness can only use it for traps and doesn't have nearly as good range. It's harder to camp and play the spacing game with Lucas because of that, Lucas should have an easier time getting Villabelle to approach than Ness. But still, Villabelle has the upper hand as long as their spacing is tight and they are punishing landings, for both characters, tomahawk grabs are almost useless because of how floaty they are and their slow grabs, so they can almost never grab in time. Their out of shield options have almost no range and are both very punishable. Their kits (besides Lucas PK Fire) have almost no range, unless you count PK Thunder which you really shouldn't ever be getting hit by as a top player.
It is about an even mu. I've about mastered Ness and use magnet dance at my peak, but Gackt made a crucial mistake. He kept burning his doublejump in neutral just for approaching but thats risky in general. That and the only main option he used even if very good was double jump fair, but he can double jump magnet dance instead for timing/spacing to get in and use other moves. Plus when villager relies on his fair, Ness can just call the wiff-punish bluff and run in that way. Overall I think he got on tilt but the villager was more in the zone, as the ness player messed up a crucial grab opportunity he was able to react to.
i dont think its remotely close to even lol. pocket merks ness so hard it almost makes me sad. also, gackt (1) is the current undisputed best ness player in the world and (2) he and kept are both top players from the same region (japan). pretty sure gackt knows everything you said, and might even have a good reason for doing what he did, even if you thought they were mistakes.
@@firewall5189 sometimes all it takes is a small change of strategy to turn a matchup around. There are mixups that make it risky for villager to go for that gimp. But everyone has a different style so.
