For reference, the Manzanilla Solist from an actual Kavalan Store in Taiwan sells this one for 8,000 NTD which is roughly 266 USD.
So definitely not worth 500-700 dollars the US market is pushing but nothing to scoff at either. Kavalan shoots out great stuff and I can't wait to see what this rookie distillery can pump out in 30 to 40 years later, as they can already hold their own among the Old Hands of the whisky world

Hey thanks as always for tuning in and supporting 🙏. And thanks for the information on the selling prices, as I didn't know that. And yes they do put out good products, and the Solist line is pricey in the US.
More reviews are on the way, stay tuned. Cheers 🥃

Had a great experience at the Kavalan Bar in Taipei and bought a few Solist (Vinho/Oloroso) which were my favorites. Never took the leap into the Amontillado/PX/Moscatel/Manzanilla/Fino however, they just seemed to be overly expensive and a big gamble to me.
    Great review mate 👍

Thanks for tuning in and supporting as always, greatly appreciated 🙏. And yes Kavalan definitely has a diverse and expensive lineup, so it was awesome that you had the opportunity to go to their bar, and try different expressions.

Another great review. You said you would review this expression at some time! I agree with EVERYTHING you just said. I would pass on the + 5 C note price on any and all Kavalan top tier whiskies - I've had them all (I live in Taiwan so it is available and cheaper) and I love them all but I don't recommend paying that kind of money for ANY whiskey that you are going to open and enjoy. I did buy a Kavalan Manzanilla earlier this month to replace the one I finished several months ago (it was excellent and your tasting notes are spot on!). Sadly, or perhaps encouragingly, the mahogany box with velvet interior is no more. The presentation is now a faux wood box, similar in design to their Fino sherry box, however, the bottle-drop-out problem you mention is solved with a dark grey, thick foam box top acceptor for the bottle top as well as for the bottom. The red stripe on the side is now a paper sleeve that fits over the bottom of the box. Maybe this will help reduce the cost of this whisky? By the way, your Manzanilla bottle is exactly 5 years, 10 months, and about 14 days in cask. The Cask No. MA10071609A needs to be interpreted as MA = Manzanilla, 10 = 2010; 07 = July; 16 = the 16th day; 09A = the specific cask. The one I just bought is MA110321004A and bottled on 2022 01 13. So it is 10 years, 10 months, 8 days old. The number of bottles is 103 less than for your bottle due to angel's share. Cheers!

Hey brother thanks as always for tuning in and supporting 🙏. And thanks for the bottle number info, as that is some very useful fact, thanks. And you had all Kavalan Solist expressions, wow that's awesome right there👏 👏.
And didn't know you lived in Taiwan, very interesting. Was curious to know you they have good access to many different bourbons out there, like Blanton's Gold or Straight From Barrell for example?
Stay tuned, more reviews are on the way. Cheers 🥃

Haha I love the “Coming To America” reference. But yeah I’m probably not gonna get the manzanilla, I saw it for less than 400 in Chicago area ( I live in Chicago area). I do have the Solist Sherry cask and the Solist Vinho Barrique and they are both good. But I think I’m all set on getting the Manzanilla now. The bottles are beautiful though which I do appreciate.

Hey brother thanks as always for tuning in and supporting, appreciated 🙏. And $400 is definitely the best price I've seen on the Manzanilla. And yes, they are definitely expensive bottles, and non-age stated. I'm glad I satisfied my original curiosity on their Solist line, and i don't regret it but definitely wouldn't buy it again though lol".
