I watched the entire documentary. As an Afghan with sufficient knowledge of the case, the producer did a very poor job, and there were many inconsistencies. For non-Afghan viewers, I just want to point out a few facts not mentioned in the documentary:
1. Abdul Qadir Fitrat was the head of the central bank of Afghanistan for four years (2007 - 2011), but during that period, his supervision of the Kabul Bank was so poor that, as a result of his negligence, the bank collapsed.
2. A number of Kabul Bank shareholders were dual Afghan-American citizens. However, when the Afghan government at the time requested them to be returned to Afghanistan for trial, the US government declined the request. This also included the head of the central bank (Abdul Qadir Fitrat).
3. The American authorities were never interested in the Kabul Bank case at all, but whenever President Karzai criticized them for killing civilians or bombing villages, they would raise the case in the media to pressure the president to keep his mouth shut because one of the shareholders was President’s brother.
4. The Americans used the Kabul Bank to transfer the salaries of hundreds of thousands of Afghan security forces, so do you really believe that the Americans were so naïve that they were channelling hundreds of millions of dollars every month through Kabul Bank, but they did not know what was going inside the bank? That they didn’t check the records of the bank, or did their vetting? That they didn’t know who the shareholders were and where the bank had invested the deposits.
Brother greetings, after I watched the documentary completely with calmness. There was some points I was Missing inside the story and urge answers from the questions raised by the brother of the Karazi. He was a board member and he said he never interrogated? How?.

@@horumarinoloshaada1848 What the brother of Karzai wants to imply is that a thorough investigation on the causes of the Kabul Bank collapse was never carried out and he, as a member of the board of directors, was never questioned. Yet, despite no questioning, he was singled out to pressure his brother, President Hamid Karzai.
What a poor attempt at trying to protect your kinsman from accountability. It is not a secret that karzai was a weak,corrupt and ineffective leader who bears responsibility for the problems plaguing the country.

I recall most of the Afghan banks were having similar activities as Kabul bank. From Ghazanfar bank to Aziz or Azizi bank (held by a true drug trafficker who then invested in many areas), all were the same.

Honestly, this documentary is lacking a lot of facts. Kabul bank was thriving and progressing immensely but the big banking criminals( national and international) players were not included in kabul bank or had power to control kabul bank therefore big banking giants would not let kabul bank to continue it’s activity and eventually the big national and international players decided to take control of kabul bank and kick owners mainly Khalil and Shirkhan out. It’s not as simple and straight forward as contributors are reporting in this documentary! Most certainly if sherkhan and Khalil were of pashtun tribe this catastrophe would have not taken place by the rivals and foreign bodies!

Every Afghan official is crooked, there isn't an honest Afghan official out there- whether they are involved in drugs and are good chums with drug kingpins (Bashir Noorzai and the Taliban) or money laundering and corruption as seen in the documentary above. Honesty isn't a thing in Afghanistan- even if they claim otherwise and I say that as an Afghan.

It's always amazing to me just how corrupt, broken, twisted, and tainted so many empty souls on Earth are. It's embarrassing. Especially when not even ONE HUMAN will escape your planet alive. Its not too sophisticated to understand. People are always tempted to live best as possible; some people can do it legally but others can only achieve their goals fraudulently.
Kabul bank was the only uprising institution during that time. We had a contract with them for on of the US funded program. The middle management were professional people and the service was great. To my understanding, the reason for collapse was the political interference and corruption of the warlords backed and supported by the western governments. The international community always played double standards against Afghanistan, they know but were still supporting the criminals, warlords, smugglers, former communist generals.

Even the bank shareholders' and investors' cases were biased and based on the investors' political influence and racial background, just like many other unwritten social standards and unwritten norms in the Afghanistan community. Farnood was responsible for some of the fraudulent management and trust, but not all of it. Everyone involved was and is responsible.
The only cause of Farnood's complete conviction of the bank's failure was the Pashtuns' intolerance of the fact that a Hazara was managing modern banking in Afghanistan, and this resulted in his douthful death in prison. In the meantime, 18 out of 19 other shareholders and loan receivers of the bank are living in luxury, largely in the EU and the USA.
This documentary is skipping this point. (Farnood is Hazara, Ferozi is Tajik and Karzai is Pashton)
