      Totally agree with your assessment of properly relaxed hair. Straightening the hair bone straight ruins the strength and elasticity. That's not "relaxing" it thats "stressing" it and it will break.

    Preach, diva! People forget that we Black folks have a curl pattern why the hair reverts back after a month or so. Also, work is still needed even as relaxed, because, the work never stops. Something that messed many of us up back in the day, is that Beauticians would leave the relaxers on way too long, and the hair would be sooooo straight with major chemical burns, and we lost our hair.😔😔😔 Ladies learn from the past, and dont leave a chemical on your head for 30 minutes. It is a chemical! Listen to this sister, and dont worry about being BONE STRAIGHT, and the comment is from a relaxed sista with waist length hair. Love the content!!!!😇😇😇😇

    I want to switch over to relaxer because I would like to wear my real hair a lot more than I do these braids. I workout daily so braids are convenient but I want to do a braid out or just simply wear a bun post workout and I can’t because my real hair is puffy afterwards. It’s beautiful but it’s a lot to maintain, being natural that is. I’m tapped tf out y’all damn. I would like to wear sew in without my natural hair puffing back out after workout or being hot outside. Help me out y’all!

    Girl, I am so grateful today that my hair is on my head still. I had my hair relaxed Friday and first off she did not want to use a hair protectant on the strands then she wanted to start applying at the back of my nape. This is a woman who has been doing this for over 30 years! Then I asked for a rinse and she wanted to do it after the deep condition which may or may not be right but in all my years of doing it is the opposite order. Then she forgot to trim the ends so I dusted it when I came home. Lucky for me I bring my own products and I have my PH balancer/conditioner that I insist she use and do multiple neutralizing shampoos and I also do an Olaplex 3 treatment the day of relaxing. It is a fight every time to get her to use a wide enough comb or even to separate the hair, which she does not do even when applying relaxer. I really need another stylist but most in my area do not allow you to bring your own products and after seeing a derm and a trichologist for hair and scalp issues for years I have a carefully selected group of products. I basically have had to learn as much as possible just to keep her from screwing up my hair. I wish I was your friend, sister, daughter lol considering adoption?

    • @TheCelmap
      @TheCelmap 3 роки тому +8

      Girl I can relate so much on the times when I was relaxed. I have had to learn to apply I own relaxer after an application desaster at salon, My hair was bra strap and manage to damage it on a single relaxer as well as leaving my scalp sore for entire year. I had to cut my hair to a bob ( luckily I enjoy the cut cause it was so beautiful) and regrow my hair again. I did promise to myself never go back to a salon, While I was grown my hair in braids I was watching tones of videos about self relaxing hair for 6 months and then I took the corauge to relax my hair by myself after I year and never look back. It was not perfect at first but I was getting better and better by the time. I I've learnt to do everything by myself since relaxer, flat iron and protective style. I did recover my previous length and went far by reaching waist length in 2018. Then I decide to transitioning and my natural now so, my hair is already bra strap. Good luck on your journey and take of your beautiful hair.

She did however, shampoo three times, conditioned twice, used an applicator to apply oil and blow dried her hair while wet. AND YES ALL HER HAIR FELL OUT OVER TIME!! any good flat iron recommendations?
    i’ve been thinking about going back to relaxers after being natural again for about 5 years. I got a relaxer during my childhood twice and big chopped twice due to damage lol. but it was because i was a kid+young teenager so i really didn’t know much about caring hair or building a routine. but now i’m 23 and developed a relationship with my natural hair actually learning how my hair thrives butttt I’m thinking about going back to relaxers. I’ve been thinking about what to do for almost 2 years. I’m really thinking through this before making a final decision. My natural 4b hair has a good length but i have super thick hair so the struggles has been realllll 😭. I just want a different look now. Switch up some things plus being an adult time literally goes by quickly like nothing. I don’t have the patience or time always to be fighting with my natural hair lol. I’m just afraid it might get damaged again for whatever reason 🥺😭

    What if we are natural and want to wear our hair straight (flat ironed or heat “trained”)? that would be a good topic if you would have any advise 🤷🏾‍♀️ I would love to hear them. I was thinking maybe treating it similar to relaxed hair..?

    Hey girl, I normally use the Affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor on relaxer days. What's the difference between that one and this Fiberguard treatment?

    • @AprilSunnyBeauty
      @AprilSunnyBeauty  2 роки тому +1

      Hey girl hey! Great question. Just from what I know...There is not too much of a difference. They are both use to help repair the fibers of the hair. The difference is in the ingredients. The fortifying treatment highlights the micro-molecular proteins. It has fruit extract like apples and lemons as well as humectants to repair hair and the 5 in 1 highlights the keratin, ceremide III, Argan oil, Pequi Oil and Buriti Oil stuff like that. But they are both step 3 in the affirm system with a great pH of 4.5. Hopefully this was helpful!

    April, I need help. How do I relax my hair only around 85%? I self relax and use a no lye. Is there anything I can add (and if so, how much) to my relaxer to slow down the process? I need to do it this way because I am kind of slow when it comes to applying my relaxer?

      I'm so sorry to hear you're going though that. You may be having an allergic reaction to the relaxer or it could be Folliculitis but I'm not a doctor. The best thing you can do at this point is to see a doctor for help. Hopefully you get relief soon.

    • @AprilSunnyBeauty

      Sitting under a dryer with the air on warm or a little cool is fine because it's not direct heat. Actually my aunt does it when I'm at the salon. It's the closest to air drying your going to get at the salon!
