Thank you for the wonderful review! I'm having a new roof installed starting the 22nd of May this year 2023. And my roofer uses Iko. You've made me much more confident about this choice, and I thank you great review! I'm going with Iko
HDZ is thin. Yes wide nail zone. However many blow offs in my area. I get 950-1200$ a square for OC Duration. I price it 30-50$ more than GAF HDZ. With 25 colors in stock and SURE nail I make so much more profit and install 95% OC. Installed 25,000 square in 4 years NO ISSUES.
I think the sealant on the HDZ is the best on the market, better than Landmark Pro imo. Although as an installer I prefer the aesthetic look of the Landmark Pros out of any shingle, we primarily install HDZs and they are extremely easy to work with, especially on steep roofs like 16/12, 20/12.
Infinite wind warranty..300 mph wind...ok let's see how that works out. IKO makes one of the best shingles on the market. A 70m facility just built. They are way ahead of HDZ in my opinion.
My opinion has shifted more in favor if the Dynasty since making this video. We install it almost exclusively. The wider nail zone on the HDZ cuts down installer error but I agree the common bond area is more important.
Just so you know your pull test is useless. The reason the shingles plow off is because the roofer is driving the nails in to deep, (to much pressure/gun not adjusted right) Or they roofed the house to late in the season, the shingles have no heat to lay flat and seal down the seal tabs.

How did it go with your Iko roof installation? Also, did you go with Dynasty or Cambridge AR shingles?

We love IKO too. We have been installing it a LOT recently! Thanks for the comment!
I'll stick with GAF.
Does a wider nail zone matter if the common bond area is smaller than IKO’s 1 1/4 inch strip, which is completely reinforced?

@Big Time Roofing LLC so would you recommend iko dynasty over gaf? Which one is better for winds and cold climate? Thanks
