- This is the @IWIUS #Tavor X95 chambered in #556 NATO. And it is an absolute LEGEND.
If I could ever only keep just one firearm and sell all the rest - this is the one I would choose. And it would be an easy choice.
This rifle has a long and interesting lineage going all the way back to its great grandfather, the TAR-21. This was to replace the Galil which was a staple of the IDF - the Israeli Defense Force. Not long after came a variant of the TAR-21 for the civilian market - the SAR-21.
The platform was known for exceptional mobility, especially in CQB scenarios, as well as legendary reliability.
It was so popular that not very long after that, we saw the Tavor 7 emerge on the market. Similar to its brother, the TAR-21, but now chambered in the larger #308 Winchester round - the Tavor 7 packed a hell of a punch.
Continuing that lineage and tradition of excellent handling, great accuracy, hassle (and tool free) cleaning as well as excellent reliability was the X95 - chambered in 5.56 x 45 NATO.
Albeit expensive, it is an extremely easy platform to use and maintain, and continues the tradition of reliability the Tavor family has been recognized for all over the world.

I love mine (OD Green) and its my first choice for my semi auto in my collection.
Mine came in with the wrong firing pin spring and it was just getting FTF all the time.
Called the Canadian warranty contact and they sent me the right one.
Never had a hiccup.
Very nice. Yeah I was considering the OD green too but when I saw that FDE I just fell in love. Great to know the warranty is good - hope I will never need it :)

Greetings from the Southern Colonies! I saw a Tavor thumbnail so jumped right on! I was also tickled to see it's a recent video, considering the trouble you're having with the gov't.
I, too am really pleased with my X95. A few thoughts:
Since the thicker buttpad is simply a nod to US gun law, and you have the 18" barrel, there should be no problem replacing it with a thinner one, if someone needs a slightly shorter length of pull. The case deflector is next to useless if shooting from the left shoulder; I have to pull my face way back to avoid getting hit by brass. My chin was cut by ejected brass the first time I tried it. The safety is easily manipulated with the left hand--just nudge down with the base of the trigger finger to take off safe, then it's an easy reach with the trigger finger (which also gets the finger off the trigger).
The standard charging handle has a couple of neat features: The play when you first pull on it is a camming feature that unlocks the bolt and breaks the case loose in the chamber--this can help open when heavily fouled of a case wants to stick. There's also that small button that acts as a gently forward assist. Manticore Arms makes a folding charging handle, but it lacks these features; I tried one, but went back to the original.
My Tavor HATES steel; the one time I tried it, I had to hand-cycle each round.
QUESTION: Do you have a lot of brass bits in the action after firing? My Tavor does, much more than other 5.56 rifles.

To answer your question, I never really looked for bits of brass as I never had any need to. That is to say, I never heard of this until now, and never saw any kind of brass shavings coming from the chamber or otherwise the inside of the firearm, so there was never any cause for alarm from my end. But that's definitely something I am going to take a closer look into now that you've mentioned it.

Something to consider, If you do the safety check just before you start the video it will save time. I know people sometimes complain, but if you point the gun at the camera they also feel like you are pointing it at them, which is stupid. You can't fix stupid so there is no use catering to it. It's not a big deal or complaint though, good video thanks.

There are several specific reasons why I do the safety checks at the beginning of my videos:
- Because it's just good practice and what we've been taught to do every time we pick up a firearm.
- Because it's a good example to follow for firearms safety in general and might help others get into the same habit.
- Because doing so covers my ass in case anyone (someone stupid perhaps) claims that I am handling the firearm in an unsafe fashion.
- And lastly, because I do not wish to make assumptions or take chances on the safety of myself or anyone assisting in the production of my videos.

@@noybeeswax Not sure about that but honestly there are so many people online that type first and think later.
For the longest time, I wondered why most content creators don’t even bother answering comments and thought they were just being dicks.
But then I started another channel in 2014, and I can tell ya the stupid, entitled and holier than thou things people say made me recently realize that those content creators weren’t being dicks, they just started to ignore all that.
I still made an effort there, and here, to answer as much as I can to have a dialogue with folks, but man. People can be dicks, and entitled ones at that. And that makes you avoid those kinds of interactions because nothing you say will satisfy those kinds of people.
You should have just started with the action open. Having the bolt closed is inherently dangerous.
Nice video, thanks. I got one two. It is kinda ambidextrous, not 100%. If you want want to have it eject to the left (as I wanted), then left bolt is close to $300.

Fore-end grip just seems like something that will catch.
I’ve never had this issue, but the nice thing is you can always just use the stock solution if that’s better for you :) I find the vertical grip gives me a lot more stability, so, I like it :)
Had mine for 2 years 1000+ rounds haven’t cleaned her but she runs like a charm

@@BaconSlayer69 I'm afraid that's where our opinions differ. That one is poorly constructed and has serious reliability issues. I warned a buddy against it - he bought one, we went to the range and within 30 minutes he had no piston rod. The gun was a paperweight.
@@BaconSlayer69 Eh. I don't trust them anymore. I hate to say it but Canadian made guns by and large have had so many issues that I don't think I will be buying any more, period. The one saving grace was my own personal experience with BCL who took care of the issue rapidly, but there was still an issue, and many more people complained about the same thing. I'd rather just save myself the headache, pay a bit more, and get a rifle I know I can trust. To quote a guy I met at the range "if your gun is fucked, you are fucked." :P I see where he's coming from, cause he's an army vet, and he's 100% right.

Slight correction - when I say "sling" and point to the "sling mounts" or "QD adapter" that's what I mean :P Just spent some time with this at the range today and it never gets old. I think I go through ammo so much faster with my Tavor, because of how much I enjoy shooting it.

Thanks for watching :) Glad this was helpful. If you want the OEM, you could probably find it at most local gun shops. The problem is that they are VERY hard to find. I had to buy an off colour one just because I needed one but couldn't find FDE anywhere. Even then, I had to wait about 2 months for one to show up at my local shop. Thankfully with replaceable side grips this looks really nice on my FDE Tavor in black with FDE side panels. Hope this helps! I do also make my own grip but haven't tested if it works with the Tavor. Thanks! I went with G33 because the G43 wasn't available in FDE at my local shop :) Still a pretty good magnifier, I'm not sure there's that much more in the G43 anyway other than some refinements, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Had you had a chance to handle the Norinco T97 (Generation 3)? I am wondering how much better the Tavor X95 is overall in terms of product fit and finish.
Hey Anthony! Hope you’re well :)
Yes I have handled it both at the store and at the range (another shooter was having issues and I came over to try to help).
The Norinco does feel somewhat weighty and feels like it’s fairly well put together, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near the level and tolerances of the Tavor.
While I do appreciate that there are other bullpups on the market that are less expensive than the Tavor, I personally decided to go with mine because of how incredibly reliable it is. Not to mention it is battle proven. When one of the most elite forces in the world swears by generations of a given firearm, that tells you right there most of what you need to know. Anything else, at least in my opinion, is personal preference.
How's the eotech fit on your tavor? Did you need risers or a different mount? I've heard it sits too low on the tavor rail.
Fits great! The EXPS3 is actually not the issue, it seems to be some magnifiers. Thankfully the G33 comes with a riser you can install and it’s designed to be used perfectly with the EXPS3. No issues for me :)

That's a REALLY tough choice, both excellent firearms. I do plan to review the Bren at some point in the future. I feel like it's gotta be the Tavor though, to be honest.
Thank you great content. Quick couple questions if you don’t mind. Are you able to fit the EO tech and magnifier on the rails while maintaining use of the iron sights? Also, if yes, can you co witness with them there or do you have to use a riser? Thank you.
Thank you! So short answer is yes. The longer answer is, it depends. You’d have to move both the holographic sight and the magnifier quite a bit up the rail because of how the irons unfold. That said, if you were comfortable using them in that position, you absolutely could use your irons. As for cowrites, I wouldn’t recommend it, but without the magnifier you could probably do that too. That however would depend on how high you have the EOTECH mounted. They have QR and low profile mounts, and in that case it’s very possible. But I’m not sure how that would affect accuracy, and if I’m going to have an EOTECH on board, that is gonna be a lot more accurate for me personally than using irons.

I ordered my 'standard' X95 grip from the IWI store, but they may be out of stock, you might have to be patient. You can request an email notification if they're out so you can jump on one when they do stock the parts.

I think they're still available :) I'd sell you my cutlass grip in FDE, but I need the side panels from it and want to keep it just in case something happens to the pistol grip. If you're in the US it's a lot easier to get a hold of em, you can get them direct from IWI America.

Thank you brother :) You know, it's probably my most reliable rifle. The great news about this piece is that it's actually non-restricted. Wild huh? Besides the reliability (hundreds of rounds so far without a single failure), it's very ergonomic, easy to handle, and fairly easy to clean when compared to AR pattern rifles. I'd say it's almost as easy to maintain as a bolt action, which is saying a lot. If you can get a good price on it, I would definitely recommend it.

Absolutely pricey, I agree with you there.
But I don’t trust any rifle like I do this one - except maybe my Tikka.
This rifle has never let me down. It’s built incredibly well. It’s easy to clean. And it looks as expensive as it is :D
But it’s no secret that if I were to sell it, I’d be getting a hefty chunk of change to the tune of probably $5k.
Your barrel is longer than mine odd
Are you from the US? I believe the barrels in Canada must be 18.5" or above but from what I understand, most in the US are required to only be 16" to not be an NFA item (SBR).
@@canadianoperator Yep. In the US, Tavors are built with 16" barrel and thick buttpad (to comply with US law regarding overall length) as standard. 13" barrel assemblies are listed in the IWI store, but that would make a Tavor a Short Barreled Rifle, which is regulated under US law.
In fact, yours looks like the black 18" assembly was retrofitted to an FDE 16" rifle to meet Canadian laws.

Get a lighting bow trigger instead of the ridiculously expensive trigger pack.

@@canadianoperator Yes. I have this gun. You can change the trigger pack in the buttstock, its the the super sabra trigger pack and it costs like $700ish CAD which is just stupid expensive, or for like $200ish CAD you can change the actual trigger, its called the super sabra lightning bow trigger and its amazing. Both are made by Geissele
You can do both and its even better but for $200 the lightning bow is the way to go. It makes it a single stage trigger with a clean crisp break and a lot lighter pull and travel.
