This was the exact video I was looking for 👏 Thank you! I’m so tired about how these tech UA-camrs almost solely obsess over video editing performance, and leave 3D performance tests to poorly executed benchmarks they don’t understand. Especially when it comes to the new M3 lineup, which is so clearly targeted towards creative professionals working with 3D software.

❤ Fantastic overview, thank you. I wish there was more focus across yt on the ai/game/3d trifecta you've identified as they seem to be what the M3 max line is built for, and not just audio/video/photo content, where the M3 base/pro are going to be pretty great. It was super informative to hear how image and code generation workflows feel with the M3 series.

The only reason for me to get a M series machine, is the possibility to run larger LLM s. For now the top consumer card tops at 24GB vram, M3 can be configured with up to 128gb ram.

M3 with 128gb ram will cost more than 5000 USD.
For that price, you can go beyond a consumer card and get a professional card from NVidia. Tons of ram, and tons of CUDA cores. Plus the Windows software ecosystem. And the best games.

Thanks for the concise, good analysis, and to the point. Honestly so much more informative than those 'professional' tech reviewers. I would appreciate you just maybe write the numbers down on the screen (or maybe even an excel sheet link), I have to like pause the video to process it.

Just to clarify… you say top spec… but… that’s a different amount of ram for M3 Pro and Max configs. Also, 14 or 16 inch. So, basic question… how much ram in each machine for these tests? Best tests on UA-cam yet again. Thank you.

Well done on the video. Refreshing to see a more technical side of the newer macs and 3D performance.
We begun working with Blender in 2022 with M1 MBP with maxed processor and ram. Performance was dismal. We held out for the Mac Studio, saw the benchmarks and then went for a threadripper 5975wx with 2x 4090. Similar price or a little higher than a M1 studio but literally over 10x perhaps even 15x or 20x the render output.
It’s good to see Apple improving but the $ to frame speed ratio is atrocious compared to Nvidia.
Wonderful for many other creative tasks though 😁
    Well done 👍

Much appreciated! On Blender: going to be really interesting see how performance evolves when the M3's hardware ray tracing matures. As you've no doubt seen 4.0 reduced Nvidia's performance across the board by around 10% so one has to wonder: if they claw some of that back will Mac users benefit too?
Still, as much as I love my Max you better believe I finally ordered a 4090 :)

I have a i9 13gen + rtx 4070 laptop. It seems fine except the battery is abysmal..like only 3 hours. Do you recon a M3 pro or max will be better for these workflow compare to this laptop?

Is the m3 pro MacBook Pro base model good enough for normal usage and video editing?

So even on my M1 Pro Resolve and Final Cut were generally flawless for 4K work The only sore sport was Resolve's Film Grain node basically halved timeline playback speed, so I was *super* pleased to see this was no longer the case on the M3 Pro I tested (the higher-end 18-Core GPU model).

@@matthewgrdinic1238 how about storage. Is it worth to pay extra like upgrade from 1TB to 2TB or just buy an external?

Hmm so between a Top M3 Pro and Base M3 Max, the difference in time savings is 4 seconds but for a difference in cost of anywhere from $450 CAD to about a $1,000. I suppose then an M3 Pro chip is perfect if Stable Diffusion is not necessarily the only use case for the machine - am I correct to think this? I'm just trying to purchase the correct spec MBP for my use case, which includes Stable Diffusion, school work, running my Shopify store, and some video editing
