“Here’s my sea lamprey and he’s a big chonker, look at that smile :)” “Aww, here’s mine, he’s not big, and he’s a pest sometimes, but it’s fine :)” I am so sorry I will let myself out 🚪
Heres my theory for why Aristotle believed in Spontaneous Generation. He played too many video games. He probably tried to make a real mob spawner to farm bones, arrows etc
I searched up and the internet said there are no male eels , i believe they might reproduce by themselves , like how female Komodo dragons can lay eggs without a male. But i could be wrong 😑 i should research further
“Most Anguilla anguilla eels lack reproductive organs; however, scientists can bring them to sexual maturity by treating them with hormones. With hormone treatment, eels can be brought together in captivity to reproduce. In the wild, however, during the last phase of their complex life cycle, they do develop reproductive organs. This final stage is known as the silver stage, and during this stage, the eels’ stomach dissolves before their sexual organs develop. This means the eels die soon after reproducing, which has made the mystery of eel reproduction even more challenging to work out.”
Thank god your back. Please don’t ever stop making videos. My only one request is when showing bones of animals when doing speed run guesses, etc. Please show picture and/or video of animals/species mentioned would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and keep up the great work!
I’m not even a scientist or a researcher or anything by that means but for some reason I actually genuinely love watching these videos they are so interesting and something about ur personally/editing style keeps people engaged the whole video
This man knows his audience and how to appeal to it. He said personality and editing and audio and honestly, some of the shots in these videos are Nat Geo worthy like wow
Didn't people also believe that fire salamanders spontaneously appear from wood on fire (this information comes from an episode of Wild Kratts I watched as a kid, please don't take it as a fact)
Pliny was roman, he lived in the 1st century AD, and he did not live in the Middle Ages. In the Middle Ages, his work was studied a lot, but he was an ancient Roman.
I could see how Aristotle came up with spontaneous generation. As a child (around 8 at the latest), with no knowledge on said spontaneous generation, I didn't understand where flies came from and so I just assumed that they came out of the old food that was left out. Same with worms and other creatures. When I first heard about spontaneous generation it was baffling to me that I wasn't the only human being that thought that and the fact that it was a legitimate scientific theory confuses me even more considering the fact that that was my first observation.
9:14 found him! Nicely done 👏 But the real magic is how many Zoomers you just tricked into learning how freshwater eels reproduce...which is pretty cool and smart of you 😉
7:00 This is a test, right? Ok -- I'll call it: Plinius dE died quite famously during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 a.d. -- that is aproximatly 420 years before the middle ages begin and right halfway through antiquity! How could ANYONE not know that? (Remember: shoulders of giants -- intelligent people learn from their own mistakes, wise people learn from the mistakes of others ^^) Very entertaining video overall - and i love it when museum collections are actively used 👍
6:06 I'm kinda sure 2/3 of this "work" when observed. You'll find scorpions enjoying the cover (and maybe the heat under the fermenting basil), mice enjoying the wheat... not scientifically sound, but legally you'd have eye-witness testimony ;D
Love Your vids, informative yet funny and mind bending (I don't know what it means).. btw ya are good editor.. your vids feel flawless.. that's the whole point.. you are good, I appreciate 🙂
WAIT WAIT WAIT A SECOND MISTER! You didn’t explain how electric eels are Not actual eels part of the order Anguilliformes! They are instead a species of knife fish found in the Amazon ecosystem, they are false eels. I also would have liked to hear the story about Alexander Van Humboldt’s eel escapade!
Love your work, thank you for showing interesting things about animal that needs it!!! Could you please speak about spiders if you got some I'm really interested about learning things on animals that frighten me :)
Dude the way you talk and explain all this is really good and entertaining. Thank for taking your time to make them
Yes. This ^
I love the idea of two scientists on a date showing off their cute lil lamprey pets :D
Me too it sounds very wholesome :)

I love how with each video we're getting more of your personality shining through
Student: Sir I have a questi-
Aristotle: *HOLD ON I CAN'T FIND THIS EEL'S BALLS*
so what I'm getting from this video is that while we know a whole lot about European eels, we still don't know where exactly they do the hanky-panky
You mean ponky-jernky
You wouldn’t like it if the scientists knew where exactly you did the hanky-panky would you?

I am both fascinated and terrified of these jars of *wet.*
Please continue.
Do you ever accidentally drop a jar and have the specimens all spill on the floor?
Good question
I would panic if that happened
I like how you say “do you ever”, instead of “have you ever” . Lol
Great question, everytime he touches one, I was thinking the same what if.....
My mans out here collecting animals like its the fucking infinity stones 💀

People actualy belive in that. Even if it's not true

Congrats on 1 mil!!! 🥳 Dude your videos are awesome keep it up
First of all, you have a lot of eels, second , you are so good at explaining everything!(And you are VERY funny)
I love learning from UA-cam especially videos like your channel
You know it's real science when bro pulls out the crafting recipes for mice 📦⛏️
Sooo much personality for a obscure science channel. And great editing
Just stumbled over your channel. Great Scott, what fun! Thank you very much for this amazing videos! Now I have some catching-up to do.
Dude I’m learning so much and enjoying it 😭😭 this is frickin awesome I love your channel!!

Beautiful eels, fun facts. Can't mess with that. Kudos my boy!
I'm so glad you have over 1 mil now out of the blue 😂 your amazing
TIL I probably could have accomplished one of my middle school dreams: sneakily opening one of the creepy cool jars my 7th grade science teacher had
Found the Waldo in the video. It's at the part where you said there's a Waldo hidden somewhere in the video.
I'm so glad someone else is finally calling out Aristotle for the crazy shit he would come up with.
Eels basically have superpowers. Amazing.
6:14 waldo hehe
The Nakey Jakey style clip at 0:30 made my day hummy

Is there anywhere I can get more info about specific spontaneous generation recipes??? Such an interesting video 10/10 big fan
carol never wore her safety glasses.
now she doesn't have to.
this is just as fun as Bill Nye the Science Guy
Except, this guy isn’t an actor pretending to be a scientist, and actually knows what he’s talking about
It’s so funny while he just gives facts while pulling out a big eel
I keep thinking about Sam O'Nella saying "Can a ninja gets some eel diq?!"
imagine walking into a room and you hear a man yell gobldy goo
You have the coolest job
Big mistake drinking tea while watching this channel
Your videos are awesome.

I found you cause my girlfriend works at U of M hospital. Love your content man!
I'm watching this at 3 am
Everyone back then really thought they could put stuff in a crafting table to make life
I said "Ooh Girl, unboxing an electic eel!"
You reminded me of Bill Nye the science guy 😂 love the videos
One last question: Does that mean eels only grow productive organs when they need em?
Do/how often do ethanol liquids get exchanged?
Are there better liquids used now?
im very happy that you exist!
The theory you have explained was the theory of angiogenesis, the life from inanimate objects,is it correct?

But how do they reproduce?
Modern Science is barely 300 years old, Aristotle was an important thinker, not scientist.
Sigmund Freud searching for eel testicles bring back some good memories.
That was really good thanks😁👍👍
Hi! Question. Have you ever broken a glass of preserved animal?
i was too captivated to look for Wally

6:14 there's waldo at the bottom
But how did they found out about eel reproduction?
How are they preserved, are they killed ?
